Eddodoh:That's quite impressive. Once you've been able to acquire a certain depth of proven experience from your volunteering/part time roles you should be ready to climb up the HR ladder with confidence by applying for permanent HR roles . |
sisisioge:How good is your CV? Have you test driven your CV yet? What kind of job are you looking for? |
Wealthyone:Thanks. I couldn't attend the conference. I just also completed an additional MBA in HRM recently, it's important to add some substance to your HR experience in terms of qualifications. |
Sensational reporting. The state government just recently demolished the popular hang-out opposite the Flour Mills junction. The story doesn't reflect the reality on ground. Most Cameroonians in Calabar are from the English speaking part which have borders with the state along Mfum in Ikom down to Ikang/ Nyanje in Akpabuyo/Oban axis. Because the Cameroonians intermarry and have close ties with Cross River it's normally hard to tell if the girls are Cameroonian or not because they speak the same local Ejagham dialect as in Etung, Ikom and Akamkpa (Oban axis) and have the same surnames and cultural ties. Rather the ones with French accent can be clearly distinguished. Hmmm, the Niger Republic commercial sex workers storyline must be a figment of imagination of the writer, except he's including those few foreign beggers in his script. |
The news isn't plausible. The CBN doesn't set fixed deposit rates. The current NIBOR tenor rates doesn't reflect this change either. |
LondonCool:This was my introductory response on the first page here 8 years ago in 2007. |
It depends on the experience of the HR masters degree holder. |
fierceella:fierceella, Without referring you to Google, CIPM is the professional body for HR in Nigeria while CIPD is the professional body for HR in the UK. If you are in Nigeria you would need to have a licence from the CIPM to practice as an HR professional. This is usually assessed via examination. CIPD qualifications are also recognised and accepted in Nigeria as professional equivalents; they can be obtained by studying for HR degrees in the UK at CIPD accredited University courses. |
belzieee:belzieee You are in a Catch 22 situation. You can't get HR experience without a job, and you can't get an HR job without work experience. The only way to break that cycle is to volunteer for a little while. Ask yourself what value can I add to an organisation? What HR skills can I demonstrate? Work on yourself (i.e. soft skills) read up on contemporary HR issues, attend HR seminars/workshops (if possible), join your local CIPMN branch and network there with other members. There are so many companies in PH, send out letters to their HR departments indicating that you would like to volunteer for them for a short period. You need to create your own luck. I used to get a diary and copy down all the addresses of Banks and Embassy's and send my cv's to them many years ago. |
shegz4law:shegz4law, Volunteering is the pragmatic option for you to take in order to cross over to the HR sector for practical experience. However, there is still a body of theoretical HR knowledge that you need to acquire in order to demonstrate proficiency as an HR practitioner. This means you either need to enroll with the CIPMN as a student or go for a Masters degree in HRM (and apply for some exemptions from the CIPMN). Your knowledge of Employment Law/Labour Law ( if at all you did the elective module) can come in very handy in the area of Employee Relations at the workplace. The problem is that you need to work your way up the HR career ladder from a foundation entry point or brag your way through at a higher level. Local churches or charities are good places to volunteer. You can offer to update their HR policies or Staff Handbooks for starters, or offer to overhaul their HR staff record filing system. We all started our HR careers from filing HR records. |
EgunMogaji:EgunMogaji, Thanks for your kind words of encouragement. We shall surely execute our projects, no retreat. |

In the beginning...

KolaShangOne:Actually the cost of a trip to Dubai and a new iPhone 6s Plus (128gb) are the same. |
johnson232:According to Structural or Civil Engineering 101 it is recommended to underpin the foundation with a beam (pre-cast concrete) all around after the 4th or 5th layer . The issue or criteria for inserting beams isn't the waterlogged land but the height of the foundation. When you are filing in a 6,7,8 coaches of foundation with soil for the DPC , there is a tendency for the wall load to push outwards. The whole stretch of wall can even fall down after a couple of years. It's expensive, but it's better to be safe than to be sorry. I had a sloping land and wasn't going to take any risk with 7-9 coaches of foundation. |
I have started to stack up blocks for the next phase. 500 down, 4,800 more to go. I'm buying in instalments in order to have more control over the quality and quantity purchased.
|
EgunMogaji:To be frank, they are a bit commonplace there. I try to avoid them as their request list are often similar; iPhone 6s Plus, iPad Air 2 or the latest Samsung. |
I would say that Trevo only becomes a scam when the Trevo Coach is only interested in accumulating down lines for themselves in order to acquire bonus rewards without actually taking time to help their down lines to build teams for themselves. That way, everybody wins. It should be a WIN/WIN situation. The main thing is that the Trevo product sells itself. Without the product, Trevo can not sell itself. When you help to distribute the product you get rewarded. It's a nice stream of income. For more details contact me on info@trevo-health.com |
Trevo is now being sold in the UK. For more details on where or how to buy or join Trevo in the UK, contact me on +447963434642 or info@trevo-health.com |
LondonCool:I've confirmed the price to be N190 for good quality vibrated 9 inchblocks, the price includes delivery to site and stacking. |
omooba969:That's cool. First of all get all your blocks ready that's required for that phase of work ( either bought or moulded on site). Afterwards, you can tell how much funds you have left to pay for setting out, excavation and block work. Would you be putting in columns and pillars in your foundation ? ( that's if you are having a penthouse and/ or parapet). They take extra funds. Also, if your foundation is going to be more than 4 coaches, you would need to introduce beams all round the foundation. That also takes extra funds. |
EgunMogaji:This doesn't include the cost of the land. I bought 100 X 150 for N2.7m and then added a 50 X 50 plot for N350,000. For your present building stage your current financial outlay has accomplished a lot. |
oliverjiad:Thanks. The shipping line should be Grimaldi. I do not intend to load any goods in the bus. However, it would be good to know the cost of both with and without the extra load. |
Tadeus:Do you have experienced guys that know how to drive a double decker bus from Cotonou to Lagos? The max speed limit is 50 mile per hour on the road. |
sheffyUTD:I have sent the picture to you via Whatsapp |
omooba969:@omooba969 According to my spreadsheet I spent N3,037,000.00 to DPC level . I went N249,500 over budget. The German flooring cost me N497,000. Moulding blocks cost me N610,000. Reinforcement/Blockwork cost N755,000. Chippings ,Extra Rods, Laterite sand, cost around N630,000. Building project expenses (including labour, materials, shed, water supplies) around N740,000. Due to the large slopping topography most parts of the foundation took 8-9 coaches (it was like building an undergound bunker). I also changed my design midway to include a Penthouse, so I had to increase the reinforcement expenditure (rods, beams, pillars, cement, etc) My quote from DPC to Decking /lintel level has now reduced from N2731750 to N2463250 (saving me around N268,500), thanks to the eagle-eyed contribution from those on the this thread that helped me to scrutinse the previous quote I listed here. |
Where is the car located ? |
sheffyUTD:I have sent the picture to your email address. The bus can carry around 50-60 passengers (both upstairs and downstairs) Regards Londoncool |
otedola1:Hi, I have sent you the picture of the buses via Whatsapp. Thanks |
Tadeus:Yes, from Cotonou to Lagos |
kopell:That is very pathetic! |
