*13 Stocks you should Avoid Completely*

1. Austin Laz Plc
2. CMFC Plc
3. Fortis Global Insurance Plc
4. FTN Cocoa Plc
5. Infinity Trust Mortgage Bank Plc
6. Legend Internet Plc
7. Morison Plc
8. Premier Paint Plc
9. Prestige Assurance Plc
10. Sunu Assurance Plc
11. Thomas Wyatt Plc
12. Union Dicon Plc
13. UPDC Plc.

*Why you should avoid these 13 stocks completely*.

*1. Illiquidity + Dead stocks*
Most of these barely trade. Days can pass with 0 volume.
Examples: *Austin Laz, FTN Cocoa, Thomas Wyatt, Union Dicon, UPDC*
Problem: You can buy, but good luck selling when you need cash. Price can be stuck for years.

*2. Distressed / Suspended / Restructuring*
*Fortis Global Insurance, Prestige Assurance, Sunu Assurance* - Insurance sector has had NAICOM recapitalization issues. Some are under regulatory watch.
*Infinity Trust Mortgage Bank* - Mortgage banks have struggled with funding + NPLs.

*3. Fundamentals issues*
*CMFC, Morison, Premier Paint, Legend Internet* - Years of losses, negative equity, or business models that haven’t scaled.
*Legend Internet* - Listed via IPO with hype, but revenue/profitability hasn’t matched valuation.

*4. Corporate governance red flags*
Some of these have had auditor resignations, delayed financials, or shareholder disputes over the years.

*3 questions to ask before buying ANY stock, especially these*:

1. *Can I sell in 3 days if I need to?* - If no, it’s not an investment, it’s a donation.
2. *Does the company make profit and pay dividends?* - Not just "potential"
3. *Would I be okay if this goes to zero?* - Because illiquid small-caps can.

It's interesting when NGX reports 3. Trillion naira loss in two days.... Whereas all fugaz recovered.... Except for a pull back persistent in FIRSTHOLDCO.... Dangote cement also rebounded.

The NGX's loss feels exaggerated because retail portfolios don't match the exchange's actual weighting. The All-Share Index (ASI) and total market capitalization are heavily skewed toward a handful of ultra large cap stocks, specifically BUA Cement, Airtel Africa, MTN Nigeria, and BUA Foods.

With all the red screams one would have thought access will be trading at 19 naira per unit, zenith at 65 Naira.... UBA @ 23 naira.... LASASCO @0.50 per unit...

Where's prayer city?
MFM Prayer City is located at **Kilometer 12, Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, Magboro / Ibafo, Ogun State, Nigeria**.

Key points for locating it:

* It sits right along the main **Lagos–Ibadan Expressway**.
* It is situated just past the Berger/Magboro area when driving out of Lagos toward Ibadan.

What are those things, other than petrochemical products usually extracted from crude oil. Other refineries in the world also have a petrochemical parts too, and their valuation doesn't come close to 60 billion USD
Ok..... What do you think the fair valuation should be... relative to similar firms? I see India.....are they doing kpo fire?

Your defense of this company is impressive, if you don't mind, would you also address why this refinery is so over valued at 47 billion USD. After all, this is just a refinery, not a 21st century revolutionary concept. This question is would you advise your client to invest in a refinery that its future growth (price appreciation is already priced into the IPO
It is not just a refinery....there are other things bundled into it if I recollect

Your resulting percentage didn't take the Refinery market cap into the total market cap so the 52% isn't right.
Still the component of Dangote ecosystem is unhealthy to the NGX

When a single conglomerate dominates a stock market, a few of its massive companies hold most of the exchange's total financial weight.

Because headline market index numbers focus heavily on these mega-corporations, a slight price change in just one of their stocks can make the entire national market look like it is booming or crashing, even when hundreds of other businesses aren't moving at all.

Worse, whenever this conglomerate plans a massive new public offer or business expansion, major investment funds often panic-sell their shares in normal, well-run companies just to hoard cash for the big deal, temporarily draining money and trading volume from the rest of the market.

This gives one corporate empire an unhealthy amount of power over national market trends, meaning smart investors have to ignore the noisy headline news and focus instead on solid, dividend-paying companies like top-tier banks that generate real cash regardless of market games.

My own concern about the Dangote Refinery listing on NGX

Assuming full subscription at the IPO price (ignoring any price appreciation or depreciation), Dangote Refinery will account for approximately 40% of the entire NGX market capitalisation. when it is finally listed.

A 40% weighting transforms the NGX from a diversified exchange into what is effectively a "Dangote Refinery Exchange." This creates an unprecedented situation where the performance of a single company defines the financial health of the nation's entire stock market.

That level of concentration is extremely vulnerable – and risky for every investor.

What are your thoughts on this and what do you suggest we should do as investors in preparation for this?
My concern exactly. The Dangote ecosystem will be too domineering for the NGX

Almost always, overhyped IPO or IPO generally do pop (appreciate) at listing, but liquidity sweep (grabs) and exit liquidity are also real. Please, for now, do not invest your emergency funds, savings or an amount you can't afford to lose in any IPO or overhyped IPO at listing.

As way back as 100 years ago, oil producing countries operate their own refineries. That Nigeria doesn't have an operational refinery doesn't make a 2026 private refinery a revolutionary concept

May God continue to help us. Amen
According to the Dangote Petroleum Refinery IPO prospectus:

1. Minimum Holding Periods
First Bonus Tier: Continuous hold for 12 months from the date of allotment.

Second Bonus Tier: Continuous hold for an additional 12 months (total of 24 months from allotment).

2. Reward Structure
12 Months: Eligible retail investors receive 1 bonus share for free.

24 Months: Eligible retail investors receive 1 additional bonus share for free (capping the total incentive at 2 bonus shares per eligible retail investor).

We cannot. Unless goverment does massive taxation of every working Nigerian .

Nigeria is a poor nation like most of you say. Also if you read my post you would see that apart form Saudi and Kuwait, subsidies are very difficult for the nation's listed to fund.

Any government bringing back subsidy, yes including Tinubu paying NNPC 20 trillion naira as energy security things , is forcing debt on top of head.
You are wrong. The claim by the current leadership is false. I can't plant yam in my farm then be costing it at international prices. That's no accounting... that's more of abracadabra

I see limited cash chasing numerous sound investment today. The beauty of the market is when you have a seller and a buyer. But, when you have more sellers than buyers, the price will crash. While, if you have more buyers than sellers the price will rise.

Hint: Just check out the offer and bid table today before you make any investment decision. I am not telling what you don't know already. This is simply Economics 101. This may be your opportunity to pick those stocks that have been in your radar at a good price.

In this business cash is king and also a position. Don't underestimate what your cash can do for you today.

Dangote should understand that energy security is more than availability, but must include affordability.... Oga Dangote, your products should reflect that Nigeria is an oil producing country...such as Russia, Venezuela, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait etc

Furthermore these hypes makes the IPO scary

Ellah dey learn work be that.
Several stocks on the Nigerian Exchange trade at valuation multiples significantly higher than standard market averages.

Low-liquidity offerings like Eunisell Interlinked (P/E ~124x) and Tantalizers (P/E ~190x) maintain elevated multiples primarily driven by tight float dynamics.
Unprofitable or low-margin operations including Premier Paints and Union Dicon Salt display inflated metrics due to negative or minimal net earnings relative to share prices.

Micro-caps such as Morison Industries (P/E >2,000x), Northern Nigeria Flour Mills (P/E >500x), and SCOA Nigeria feature market valuations well above historical book assets.

High-profile market constituents like Transcorp Hotels (P/E ~388x), Geregu Power (P/E ~217x), and Dangote Sugar Refinery (P/E >400x) trade at substantial premiums reflecting forward growth expectations.

Interpret my post in the appropriate language.
