Stockpromoter: JapaulGold AGM Today 📌
Today, August 21, marks the JapaulGold AGM. Investors will be watching closely for updates on the company’s plans, performance and outlook.
The key question for traders: Will the AGM bring fresh confidence and trigger renewed buying interest in the stock?
Today’s price action and volume should be watched closely. AGM outcome + market reaction = the real signal. Nothing to move in the market stop unnecessary posturing as if you are speaking from a position of knowledge or fundamentals... From start to finish japaulgold is a speculative stock |

HesInMe: Not saying they're balling, but you might be conflating insurance brokers, who are independent and live off of commissions, with insurance carrier agents. Most (all?) of the listed companies are carriers. No graduate staff of any firm should be vagrantized in that manner |

There's a strange happening on the ngx that I noticed... Performance is not translating into shareholders involvement or appreciation. It seems the ngx is fundamentally opaque and what influences stock prices are beyond normal fundamentals or normal investor activities.... |

essentialone: Lasaco Assurance Plc survived. Next is for them to now show workings and prove that those who trusted them enough to pour in Billions of Naira to rescue them at the last minute, were actually Investors and not just speculative Gamblers. If you lived in Lagos and saw the insurance brokers in their pain... You wouldn't invest a farthing in any insurance company... How much is that sterling bank owing? |

essentialone: The human cost of the NAICOM recapitalisation exercise. While NAICOM set the rules, we should blame *boardroom indecision* for what happens next.
*1,500+ INSURANCE JOBS LOST*
7 legacy insurers failed to recapitalise in time, and are now winding down. That’s pushed *over 1,500 core staff* into the labour market.
*BREAKDOWN OF AFFECTED STAFF* 1. *African Alliance Insurance Plc*: ∼550 employees. 2. *Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC)*: ∼350 employees 3. *Staco Insurance Plc*: ∼150 - 240 employees 4. *Universal Insurance Plc*: ∼135 - 163 employees 5. *Goldlink Insurance Plc*: ∼105 - 150 employees 6. *NICON Insurance Plc*: ∼50 - 100+ employees 7. *Royal Exchange Prudential Life Plc*: ∼20 - 50 specialist employees.
Thousands of *tied agents, brokers, and service providers* are affected too.
*WHO IS TO BE BLAMED* 1. *Boardroom inertia*: Delayed capital injection, failed M&A talks, poor capital allocation. 2. *Missed the window*: Didn’t inject equity or restructure early enough during the recapitalisation period 3. *Loss of premium income*: NCRIB directed brokers to stop doing business with non-compliant firms. That cut off cashflow, so boards couldn’t even pay salaries.
*REGULATOR'S SIDE* NAICOM’s position is that "weeding out weak operators is essential for a healthy financial system" and policyholder protection. The new NIIRA 2025 capital thresholds were meant to make insurers stronger.
48 insurers + 2 reinsurers met the July 31, 2026 deadline and raised ~N720B. The 7 above didn’t.
*THE BIGGER PICTURE* This is the painful part of financial sector cleanup. - *Short term*: Job losses, stranded policyholders, and claims uncertainty - *Long term*: A stronger, better capitalized insurance sector that can actually pay claims and absorb risk.
For Universal Insurance specifically, this matches the licence revoked Aug 14, receiver appointed, and now we see ∼135-163 staff affected there.
It’s a reminder that regulatory deadlines are real, and board decisions have direct consequences for workers. LASASCO no dey dia? Megawealth01 |

You need to be less emotional on Oando.
As for the shade on being able to read AFS, i take it in good faith because i have never denied that i went to night school.
FYI this moniker also is in the Oando boat albeit since several years back and already written off from my books.

ghm: Thank you.
In addition, I may not know the economics of inflation, but my experience has shown that it is not as bad as we usually paint it. I see it as : we receive both good and evil, and we choose to emphasise the evil without mentioning the good.
For example, I have equipment leased to a company. Before 2019–2023, I was paid N1 million monthly, and after paying the operator and maintenance, I was left with N400,000 profit. In 2023, after the "reforms," my expenses jumped to N900,000, and I was left with N100,000 profit. In 2024, we asked for an increase due to the circumstances – inflation, exchange rate unification, subsidy removal, etc. – and N2 million was approved. My expenses jumped to N1.2 million again, and I was left with N800,000 profit, which has continued till 2026.
Now, most people will say my expenses jumped from N400,000 to N1.2 million – but they will never say my income increased from N1 million to N2 million.
The increases in salaries, allowances, prices of goods and services we offer, dividends, rents, etc., are a result of what we are complaining about bitterly – yet we hardly mention them, but cry foul over our increased expenses.
How do we explain that? Or am I missing a perspective? In a battle of narratives you can't win. Let it go. |

Investment › Five Quiet Signs Your Financial Life Is Falling Apart by londonerr(op): 7:48am On Aug 12 |
1. Toxic Social Circles Surrounding yourself with directionless, consumer-minded peers conditions you to adopt their unfocused habits and limited future. 2. Destructive Financial Habits Spending habitually alongside poor money managers prevents you from saving capital and building long-term financial security. 3. Lack of Purpose Associating with people who lack goals blinds you to your own potential and hinders personal growth. 4. Survival-Only Mindset Focusing exclusively on paying bills traps you in a cycle of mediocrity without planning for future progress. 5. Absence of Vision Failing to set decade-long goals drains your potential, ensuring your financial decay rather than lasting wealth generation. |
