Your governor, Hope Uzodinma since 2020 does not seem to know that there are places called Okigwe and Orlu - the once two fast developing cities in Imo state before his tenure; except the two federal roads leading to Okigwe and Orlu that his government reconstructed.
He uses the federal allocations of Okigwe and Orlu areas to demolish what former governors built in Owerri to rebuild them.
You have the same sense of development in a state like Hope Uzodinma - develop state capital, stop modern development in any other place in a state.

Owerri is a city that stole the federal allocations of rest of Imo state to develop Old Owerri; New Owerri and other upcoming new city suburbs in Owerri; while Okigwe and Orlu that were nearly of same level of urban development with Owerri in 1976, are drying out.
Greed of Owerri people in forcing the location of all government institutions in Imo state for Owerri, and the TOXIC governors from Okigwe and Orlu zones since 2007 till today, led to Imo state having only Owerris as developing in the state .

Security of lives and property in a given territory is the number one prerequisite for development in the territory. A large portion of Imo West zone has been battered, deserted, govt services in the area relocated to the state capital by Uzodinma, and the area returned to near civil war era under Uzodinma administration. You don't give the damn because you have no business, like Uzodinma, with that area of Imo West zone; no sense of understanding, like Hope Uzodinma, that economic development of a state can never be measured by the economic buoyancy in one small portion of the state - Owerri federal constituency - in the case of Imo state.

Owerri has FMC, it wants teaching hospital, it has Imo Specilialist Hospital. Nothing of govt exists outside Owerri and survives in Imo state. Any attempt to establish a state project outside Owerri must be killed. Even a campus of College of Education established outside Owerri with millions of Naira by Mbakwe administration was closed down. Mbakwe left, and Owerri lied to a new military governor that no campus of AICE outside Owerri was going to be viable.
In fact, greed of Owerri people and useless governors fcucked up the rest of Imo state outside Owerri.

A university teaching hospital is a research and training centre not necessary to be sited in big city. FMC or State General hospital is sited in big city.

Kuje should have been better. After all, with our increasingly unitary system of government, offence committed in Lagos or Calabar can get the offender hauled all the way to Abuja for trial and imprisonment. The most vocal and self acclaimed sophisticated group in Nigeria watch the dysfunctional unitary government system consume every group in Nigeria. No alarm raised.
