rocketphysicist: Unfortunately, most of this jobs aren't advertised. They are usually insiders connection, cos I've never seen an advert for NASDRA or the satellite station.
Yeah, I get that feeling too. That's why I pointed out in my earlier post to build good professional network, because most jobs are gotten through referrals.
CareerRe: Physicists Students & Graduates...discussion Thread by Lord9con(m): 5:07pm On Aug 18, 2014
rocketphysicist: How many of these firms actually employ physicists in Nigeria?
I know in the oil and Gas sector, there's a field called petrophysics, there is also Geophysics. Physics grads. Can also work as field Engineers because basically you all be trained when you're employed.

In the area of Satellite communications, I know Physicists are involved. So you have organisations like NigcomSat.

For Space Exploration we have our own Space Agency, NASDRA. where physics grads. Can also fit in

Hospitals across the country also employ physics grads. as professionals in the area of Medical physics.

In the power sector physics grads. can also be employed as field engineers but you may need to undergo training.

I believe they are even more that I may not know of but what I feel you guys need to do, is to make that extra effort in understanding how physics plays a role in various industries and from there you would appreciate the course and have a clear choice of the career path you intend to follow.

NigellusHosan: As a graduate of physics what are the pros n cons..
What industries and opportunities are readily open to us.
Enlighten us a little
Sorry for my late reply. Was a bit occupied.
To answer your question, First of all I don't think there is any disadvantage studying physics. Because the training and exposure one receives gives you that limitless opportunity to participate in whatever area that interests you. some places where you could find physics graduates working include; Oil and Gas, Telecomm. Aviation, Medical Physics, Power Sector.e.t.c One thing I'll advice everyone out there is to work very hard in school, get good grades and Develop your professional network because it would go a long way in helping you.

Its so funny how some people are trying so hard to refute other people's claim to have gotten text messages, anyway its all down to our dubious environment and the deep mistrust we have for one another.

Some people clearly don't use their brains, what's wrong with a system that clearly encourages interest free business. If western Nations that are highly secular are practising this type of banking, what's the worst that could happen? Moreover the countries that practice this Banking system even had a better experience during the Global financial Meltdown (2008). My fellow Nigerians, if we are to take our rightful place among Nations, we just have to do our away with this prejudice towards one another, be it religion or Ethnicity. We have to tolerate one another and RESPECT people's differences. Cheers!!!!

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Nigerian Airforce Direct Short Service Course (DSSC) 2013 by Lord9con(m): 7:47am On Oct 26, 2013
This exam will probably be the most easiest exam I've ever written and quite ironically the easiest to fail as well. Looking back now I can confidently say the odds were against us, but the illusion that the questions were easy was quite difficult to over look. My reasons:
(1) Writing an exam under very stressful condition; remember we had to stand for hours under the scorching sun.
(2) The number of the applicants across the federation and as well our respective centres.
(3) The system they used ie (blue biro thing, one chance shading)
(4) The lack of order during the exam.....and finally
(5) The NIGERIAN FACTOR
But anyway most of this analysis may as well just mean nothing really, considering what we Nigerians go through on a daily basis and how we still triumph. Good luck Everyone

@ify4king
Thanks, I actually thought they said we should find the perimeters. Ma bad
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Nigerian Airforce Direct Short Service Course (DSSC) 2013 by Lord9con(m): 3:04pm On Oct 22, 2013
@ ifyking

4(x+2)= 4x + 8.......(1)
3(2x)= 6x..........(2)

Let (1)=(2); since the two perimeters are equal

4x+8=6x
8=2x
X=4

Since x is 4, we sub the value of x into (1) and (2). Becos the question said find the perimeter of the triangle and square.

Therefore the perimeter of the square is 4(4)+8=24
Perimeter of triangle 3(2x4)=24

Am a non-indigen, I got a white card and was selected for the interview, my friend whose an indigen got a blue card and also got invited for the interview. Basically it depends on the person who assessed you that day. Also I guess each table had a different colour for pass or fail
