A lot of fans are fine with a top 2 finish and a UCL SF this season.

Plus, it's not like Zidane isn't trying. This match is proof. Dude threw a tactical banana starting a game with four full-on attackers even though we have bogus defensive issues. Why? He was going FTW.

My problem with Zidane is that we shouldn't be playing virtually every opposition in the league like they're a traditional European heavyweight. We should be able to win games comfortably and score for fun using an established system, like Man City or Liverpool. The chasm in quality between RM and the bottom half is as deep as the Mariana Trench.

Why play Villareal like they're ATM. We drew this game solely due to individual brilliance. All game long, it was cross and inshallah.

Is that enough to ask him to pack his bags? Not quite. System coaches are few and in between. If he goes, who'd come in?

Our defense is the reason Barcelona dominates the league.

Outscoring opponents works great in a cup tourney like the UCL. For the league, it is ineffective.

We can't fire on all cylinders in every game. So when we're only able to scrape one or days when the ball wouldn't go in, we should be able to grind out a result. That's what Champions do.

Unfortunately, our defensive issues does not look solvable atm. It seems like a black hole.

ZZ had the lineup right. But in the end, knowing our defense, with only a goal up going into the final minutes; it was always a toss up if we'd take all 3 or drop 2 points. Which is a shame really as for a second there it seemed like we were finally getting into rhythm.

Zizzou is not known for his tactics. He is an excellent man manager, can read the game well on a good day, and can setup teams to better match the opposition. Add that to his credentials as a GOAT manager and having the best players in their prime; with a lil bit of Black Magic; and voila there are 3 CL trophies in the cabinet.

When the players aren't performing at their usual level; everything falls apart spectacularly, because there's no tactics to gloss over deficiencies. There's just Casemiro and the heroics of whoever is between the sticks.

We played this game like we did against Bayern Munich in 2018. If our players can't find it in them to play a game like they're in the UCL knockout stages with all to play for, we play like a Championship team. We only have two gears, it works or it doesn't work. There's no in-between.
