I'm not getting the outrage. Still not getting it. I know folks are having PTSD flash backs to the start of last season but deep breaths people. Deep breaths! Hopefully, Zidane doesn't try to be stubborn and makes appropriate strategic, technical, and personnel changes. -Lord |
ClintonNzedimma:Maybe you're not understanding my point. My issue, and I suspect it's the same with most Ronaldo fans and neutrals, is that after you guys have propped up Messi to be this larger-than-life figure that can do everything; you guys are now backtracking after the serial disappointments in continental Europe of late and South America throughout his senior career, that people are expecting too much from him. No one stipulated those expectations but his stans. At the start, Ronaldo was the unlucky one. After the 2004 Euros loss and the end of their golden era; it was assumed he wouldn't ever win a NT trophy for a country that never had one. Messi was the one who had favor, came from a traditional football powerhouse that almost always had an exciting roster even in off-years & have a winning culture. It was expected, not theorized, that an international trophy was par for the course. Eight or so international tourneys and four finals later with one of the most lethal attacks in Argentine history, no NT trophy and we're just supposed to overlook it because the player in question is Messi. And this isn't an isolated instance. Barcelona hasn't fared better in the UCL after Xavi and Iniesta left either; because a certain talisman who his fans place on the GOAT list can't act/play like a GOAT contender when the occasion calls for it. The incensing part is how hardcore Messi stans then resort to downplaying others' efforts and propping inanities like an MVP award or goals scored against Malaga to cover up his failings like they do not understand the gravity of being a GOAT contender. How far up your a$$ do you have to be to say that Messi is better than CR7, Pele, or Maradona when he can't inspire a forward line comprising himself, Higuain, Di Maria, Aguero, and Lavezzi (and later Dybala) all proven winners and at their prime to an international trophy over several competitions. Dude is a fraud. If another GOAT contender also had to lead a similar attacking lineup and didn't win one trophy, I'd call him a fraud too. -Lord |
ClintonNzedimma:So you're trying to tell me that in 2010, you Messi fans predicted Messi would not have won a national team trophy at the age of 33? Or you don't know the meaning of underdeliver? Go use a dictionary. Come back when you have a concrete point to make. -Lord |
Mcleo007:Yet Messi has been made to disappear in 3 consecutive UCL tourneys while Ronaldo has won 3 UCLs and 2 NL trophies in the last 5 years. Nobody talks about stopping CR7 because he is the best positional player to ever play the game and needs just one opening to decide a tie. Even when he isn't with the ball, he drags players away, which is what allowed Guedes to have the opening to score the UEFA NL winner. Playing against CR7 is accepting you are a goal down. Try again, you've just crapped your pants! -Lord |
ClintonNzedimma:Fair enough. During Messi's turn, you guys sh*t on CR7 and other greats nonstop. Now it's not his turn, don't act surprised that he's having a taste of the medicine you guys concocted, refined, and manufactured in Camp Nou. -Lord |
Kimbeast:They are still trophyless! Nearly cannot kill a bird. -Lord |
Kimbeast:That's because you are part of the Indomie generation. In 2004 when Messi was still in La Masia, a certain prodigy lit up the Euros 2004 tournament. 5 Balon D'Ors and 2 NT later, dude in comfortably perching in the GOAT list; while your MCM is on the verge of his 3rd international retirement. Since you've decided to be unfortunate in life, you better run back to whatever hole you crawled from. -Lord |
ClintonNzedimma:The issue is that some of the folks in your camp are still stuck in the past like Knicks fans. Once upon a time, a cheap shot against Ronaldo when he still had just the one CL from his Manchester days was that he mostly only performed against small teams. After the 3-Peat, that's no longer the case. Once upon a time, at Messi's peak the running bet was how soon he'd be able to eclipse Maradona; and since CR7 had just one Balon D'Or then and it didn't seem like the Messi-Iniesta-Xavi trident would slow anytime soon; Messi stans quickly elevated their MCM to GOAT status; conveniently disregarding CR7's outerworldly performances. Today after the 4-in-5 CL wins, Balon D'Or rack ups, NT glory, and age-agnostic performances, anyone who doesn't place CR7 in a top 3/5 GOAT list is either uninformed or mischievous. Many Messi fans have their heads still stuck in 2010-2012. They'd rather our current timeline loops continuously over that three year period only. Today you have most people even Messi fans saying they'd rather have CR7 take a last minute spot kick or have him in their team. In 2011, many of the same folks didn't think he was worthy enough to step into the Barca first 11 despite being a Balon D'Or winner. 1. Many Messi fans don't want to accept that neutrals have grown accustomed to seeing CR7 overperform in the last 5 years, while Messi has in the same time simply not lived up to the lofty ideals extoled by his proponents. 2. Many Messi fans don't want to accept that neutrals have grown used to seeing Messi dribbling and scoring in a Barca shirt. It looked nice and novel in 2010. Now it's same old, same old. Yes you can dribble, cutbacks seem to always find you, you can score 50 goals; but against elite competition in Europe or at the NT level; are you able to by grinta take the team past the finish line? 3. Many Messi fans don't want to accept that Messi isn't competing with legends, he is contending with other GOAT candidates. When your competition is CR7, Maradona, Pele, Cryuff, and Zidane; dribbling a mid-level table player worth 1/50th of your going price doesn't move the needle however eye-catching it appears to be. It's the legacy; the performances that make people go who else but him in situations where others fold and crumble under pressure. Messi was "apparently" supposed to make Maradona look ordinary. And now he can't win a COPA. A f*cking Copa America, while playing for Argentina. Are you guys trying to say if you put either of CR7, Maradona, Pele, Cryuff, or Zidane in each of the four Argentine final team Messi has played in, they'd not win even one of the finals whether by hook or by crook? Or that Messi who goes missing in the knockout stages with Argentina of all countries would somehow excel in the Portugal team CR7 has won with or the Dutch team Cryuff had exploits with? You guys need to look in the f*cking mirror and realize you guys oversold on Messi and he underdelivered! All the other GOAT candidates worked hard at their craft, paid their dues, and ascended to GOAT status by sheer will and immense resolve. No one ever looked at a 19-yr old Zidane, CR7, Cryuff, or Maradona and went off with the idea that they'd be the yardstick for others to compare. Even Pele after his exploits in his first WC win wasn't touted because no one at the time expected or believed he could achieve what he eventually did. Yet later on he defined what it meant to be a Great. But a 19-yr old Messi was signed and delivered as the one to eclipse all the other greats. Now that he's not being able to match the unholy targets you guys set for him yourselves, you expect those of who are fans of other greats and neutrals to give him a break? WHY? Shebi he can do everything? Let him playmake, pre-assist, assist, and score his way to a basic COPA America win. Don't tell us now that he's playing with a poor support cast. If he's supposed to be better than Maradona or CR7 he should be able to win with that poor support cast which curiously have an attack that has won everything there is to win in club football. How he intends to do it, we don't GAF! Just do it! If Messi can't inspire Higuain or Aguero to a COPA Final win, I don't see how he'll be able to inspire an Eder or Guedes to a Euros win. That's why we have been asking him to leave Catalonia. Because we know yes, he'd score goals, he'd dribble; but when the stakes are raised Oga will go missing and blame everyone even the pitch. And then even the small cover of Barcelona's system he's hiding under will blow out wide open with a stench like a blooming Rafflesia arnoldii flower. -Lord |
TLona1:Enough to support Portugal to their first international trophy! -Lord |
Miremoses1:He is quality but we'll see how well he's used. The season can't start soon enough. -Lord |
TLona1:...And then failed to win the trophy! Keep making my points for me. -Lord |
Miremoses1:Where is Hazard likely to play in said formation? -Lord |
tesppidd: tesppidd: tesppidd:Dude I'm allergic to your immeasurable level of stup*dity. If stup*dity had a standard scale, they'd have to make a custom scale for you. I'm as serious as cancer. There is no way I can even pretend to take you serious after that statement. If you don't have shame, me, I have shame. I cannot dance on the street with a mad person and then start trying to convince people that the mad person has moves. That'd be the equivalent of still trying to respond to you. Even whatever you worship will not forgive me for continuing to debate you after he has in his infinite kindness revealed to me that you're irredeemably senseless. I have 70 or so years to live, replying you is the worst possible way to use that scarce time. Like damn! I finally see an instance of stup*dity that'd make an amoeba (without a functioning neurological system) blush. In fact, you're a critical risk to the mental health of anyone around you. -Lord |
TLona1:Yes and Ronaldo had the most goals and assists in the team for the 2016 Euros and booked the team a place in the final of the Nations League with a superb hattrick. That's how he led Portugal to the Euro and Nations League glory; by not just what he did on the pitch but also what he did off it. -Lord |
tesppidd:Please, you guys should come carry this mental patient! That completely buffoonic statement in bold is my cue to realize you were dropped too many times on your head as a child for you to ever be able to reason like a homo sapien. You're definitely a special kind of stup*d. Like your stup*dity has to hurt physically. I mean I've refrained from taking personal shots so far, but I owe it to the universe to at the very least try to remind you of how catastrophically low your IQ is; because I can swear I'm not the first person to tell you same. Just look at the nonsense you're spouting on a public forum. -Lord |
tesppidd:Try again. You've failed again for the umpteenth time to make sense. If you think an MVP award is more important than a goal or trophy, I don't know why you guys were complaining about Higuain. I'm perfectly fine with Messi winning MVPs and Ronaldo winning trophies. I know the one Messi prefers, but let me pretend you and him are on the same that MVP awards are better than trophies. Maybe that was why he was blaming the pitch! -Lord |
tesppidd:I asked you a question: Answer it. How many trophies has Messi won without goals? Goals are not simply a portion of performance; they're the end-point and reason for a performance. As for the question about excellence, CR7 did his part for the team to win the tourney; he had the most goals for his team in both tournaments he won. That is his job; and he damn well excelled at it. You can continue propping up whatever means more to you, even if it's pre-assists, dude ain't complaining about his two trophies. -Lord |
TLona1:So Messi would not exchange his three MVPs for one international trophy? Ronaldo played his part, scored in the knockout stages, provided leadership both on and off the pitch; and had two crowning achievements. There's not a single bone in his body that'd exchange both trophies for an MVP award in every competition. -Lord |
tesppidd:So how many trophies has Messi won without goals again? You no fit get sense for this life again, wallahi! -Lord |
nihilistjnr:Don't mind them. Dude scores knockout goals only in 2007 and 2016; almost 10 years apart; and the linguistically-challenged cule wants to share "accolades", despite playing in more competitions, with a shorter tournament, with a traditional heavyweight team. Messi scores a knockout goal enroute to two of the four finals he's been in playing for ARGENTINA. CR7 scores in knockout goals enroute to all three finals he's been in playing for PORTUGAL. And these same people have no shame. When I call him a system player, one would be foaming in the mouth. -Lord |
tesppidd:It's lame to you because you have no concrete response. You're asking me to be impressed that the best player in the joint-best team on the continent who has the most caps as an attacker has the highest goal tally? How old do you think I am? If Ronaldo was German or French and he hadn't won a trophy, he'd still get called out; because he would be playing in a traditional heavyweight national team. Teams that expect to win every competition they participate in. That's Argentina; whether you like to hear it or not. Now you expect a reasonable person to accept that a person who scored 50 goals in a season that wrapped up like one month ago, somehow only scored a penalty in this COPA; and said person is not a system player? A player who apparently can do everything in a barca shirt, but couldn't score a goal or assist one in four finals in a national team that's the joint-best in his native continent? That is the very definition of a system player. -Lord |
tesppidd:I blot out text that don't make an ounce of sense. tesppidd:Like this one. You know you're in a bend when you have nothing else concrete to say but to rehash failed arguments and start trifling about my nick. My sign off is literally five letters and a punctuation; that should be the least of your concerns. You should be more concerned about trying to use your brain, because you've consistently failed to do so so far. -Lord |
tesppidd:Yes. Precisely how many goals did Messi score in this COPA fresh out of a 50 goal Barcelona season? How many goals did he score in the knockout stages of that 2014 FIFA WC you guys like to trumpet? This is an Argentina team that Aguero and Higuain have 0.4+ average; and you're making it seem like he's playing for Ecuador. Only Brazil equals Argentina's standing in South America; so how is it surprising that their best player has a 0.5 average playing against competition they're unarguably better than. And how does that stop him from being a system player who only has exploits in his club playing a specific system. If he has made exploits in his NT, he'd have had at least one trophy. You guys need to stop smoking expired crack. Messi is a system player! -Lord |
Mcleo007:Since they left he has choked in 3 successive UCLs and you say he is the same consistent player. The only thing he's been consistent at, is showing he is a fraud. And to your Maldini question, Maldini is not on the GOAT list; Messi is. You're comparing apples to oranges. The job of the defender is to stop goals from getting in; so even if they do their job; they can still go out through penalties. The job of an attacker is to score or facilitate a goal, so even if you concede, you outscore and win. Seeing how much you guys extol Messi, anyone who didn't know better would think he could waltz into the pitch, pick the ball from the half-way line and dribble into the net in every game. The question is why hasn't he done so even once in four finals. And Ramos is a more rounded defender than Maldini. I'd rather have Ramos in my team than Maldini. -Lord |
tesppidd:Because in the land of the blind, a one-eyed man is king! Dude is the third most capped player playing as an attacker. If he scored any less we'd be calling him a disappointment not a system player, after all Crespo has a better average. Dude should score a goal or one of his famed hattricks, or the dribble a whole field to score in a match that'd win him a NT trophy. Maradona is a bigger Argentine player than Messi to Argentines for that exact reason. Messi is a system player. Choke on it if you want. That's not the only thing you like to choke on! -Lord |
tesppidd:Dude wake up; it isn't 2012 anymore. Stop rehashing sh*t that have no place in 2019. Your MCM for heaven's sake was blaming the pitch for his poor performance in a glorified AFCON. That's comical and shameful. -Lord |
tesppidd:What has his "superb playing" won him in the Argentine NT? You Messi fans like to pretend you don't understand English. System player does not mean he can't kick the ball. It means he needs a specific system to make exploits. That's why he can score 50 goals in a Barca shirt, but one penalty in an Argentine shirt. It's a very simple sturv! That's why we call him a fraud or scammer. Because anyone who watches him only in a Barca shirt would not realize that 97+% of the footballing world do not play that system. He only thrives in that system, and goes missing when he steps out of that system. That's the definition of fraud. 9 coaches; not a single trophy; playing in a heavyweight footballing nation; and shame no dey catch you? -Lord |
tesppidd:Oga when that footballer is Messi, then a legendary midfield can push a great high up the all time list. Ronaldo also played with two of those pairs you mentioned and no one discounts their efforts. Let's not pretend like if Messi played in the Spanish NT, he wouldn't have broken WC records? Without Xavi and Iniesta, Messi's peak would not have been that illustrious. As we've seen since they left and when Messi plays internationally. Messi is a system player. The only system player in the top 5 or even 10 GOAT list. -Lord |
adisaaowala:CR7 fans who want to rip Messi and his stans ad infinitum have my blessing. If you think otherwise, you must not have been online from 2010 to 2012 when Messi fans went full-on psycho on CR7 and his fans. Like then Messi was on track to win like 2 COPA, 1 WC, 1 Confederations cup at least with Barca looking like they could dominate forever. To see all that fizzle into a mirage and see CR7 against all odds equal the Balon D'Or gap and eclipse him on International trophies is a sight to behold. Especially with Messi fans now humble, making excuses for their MCM, and forcibly acknowledging that Messi can't have it all. I see this as a who laughs last, laughs the best kinda situation. KARMA for all the st*pid sh*t Messi stans have said in years past. PS: As for the just-concluded CONMEBOL competition, it's a disgrace; and Messi has the right to react however he likes. He just needs to be cool with the repercussions. Buffon said similar. If same sh*t had happened to CR7, I know we his fans would have doxxed the ref of the Brazil match and some would have sent death threats. Our blood dey hot. The problem is that Messi fans are in a fix, because they're usually the ones who are the behavioral police talking about how Messi is humble, how anyone complaining is a sore loser, and all the other amateurish BS. Neymar said same thing about refereeing, got 3 match CL ban and no Messi fan was saying then that Neymar had a point. But now that Messi has said same, we all are supposed to suspend the "good behavior" yardstick they've trumpeted for over a decade, and make an exception. Just like how they said it wasn't proper for Cristiano to call himself the best ever; then Messi poses with a goat and there goes the humility tag suspension again. -Lord |
Here for Mertens. Go get that WC and Balon D'Or. -Lord |
Regardless of whatever happens in this match, the first sentence Amaju should tell Rohr is "You're fired." -Lord |
Cules what's the new excuse? Because e don pass pity, na shame remain for Messi. See the fraud wen una b dey prop up for Balon D'Or? -Lord |
