i av enjoyed all the post u guys sent in but the fact remains that bill gates is not a super programmer but a super business man. Now i am looking at it form both sides: through the programming and business aspect. My main aim is not to bring bill gates down (HE IS ONE OF MY ROLE MODELS). I want to build an application-software company that would put nigeria on the software technology map and match microsoft applications. You nid to read the recent speech by the Head of Microsoft West Africa during their recent search for more partners; "Microsoft wants to be the only competition in West Africa". Now thats annoying to me, and i wont let it happen. My team; Ephod Software Systems would stand and fight this good war and we have started. Fil free to hop in. Our Company Focus is simply irresitible.

Yo! Av quietly watched the replys on this post for the time being and to say i av laughed a lot just to see peoples reactions when MICROSOFT is mentioned. Seriously i see no difference between Bill Gates amd LORD Voldemort, just look at how he almost took Netscape Communications out(Read Netscape Time by Jim Clark & Om Edwards.) He is also quoted to have said "if i can push a button and blow up the internet i woud do it with joy", just because he dosen't av control ova the intenet like he has with desktops. I hope he neva finds the button. So what do you call that monopoly or friendship. Note : No hard beefs towards Uncle Bill

Yo! Guys am really sorry, hope i dnt have a stigma on me for not showing up at important times. Its due to UNILAG, crash courses and hell course works. Also lecturers in my departments have to decided to make LAG a living hell for me cos they saw a software i made on a friends lapi and became jealous that what took them 10-15 years to learn, is taking me 3months(beefers ). Might drop out if it persists.(okay enuf of the pathetic yans.) Brief be about the yans and notes of the meeting, promise to make the next meeting.

Stanoz, long time since i joined the software industry but i'm pround to tell you that not only did i get the compiler, i now use the most recent JDK (JDK 6 Update 4), i also am now proficent in VB.Net, ASP.NEt, Win32,XML,Oracle,C++,Visual j# all thanks to you guys. I have also made about 4 cool programs that ease the way i use my PC. Now thats progress. Just want to say thanks and hope i can someday work with you like a partner. later.

Yo! kobo i checked my mail but didnt see any tasks from anyone. About the VS 2008 beta, i dont have any way to get it. The only option i tried which is downloading is relatively so and breaks like hell. I have VS 2005 would that be okay? I dont know much stuff about SQL server but on fire with oracle. I am counting on someone to guide me through with the SQL server. Though i have got the .NETFRAMEWORK 3.5 redistribute package.

i made a web site for some dudes using asp.net which involves buying and selling. the problem now is that they want a provision for the customers to have/print a receipt for every purchase they make. I thought of declaring variables on the form where the customers enter their details and pass each sting variable to the strings they enter in the textboxes such as name, phone no e.t.c ; i am now thinking of using those variables on the main receipt page. i need a mechanism code for transfering variables btw webpages. I am thinking using txtfiles resident on the server machine. Help me Out !!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Nairalanders, i have a little problem. I want to be able to save my apps' changes to the hard disk, so that the user ccan continue with the app the way he close(I mean, not all changes would be saved)

i'v tried the

but nothing significant happens.

Also i would like to know how to save string values to textfiles and to be able to retrive the values from this file.
such as a password.

Nice spirit, good will and beautiful concept. I would love to work with you on the project for FREE even if it entails just sitting and watching you guys do it. Its just one of the little ways i think i can say thank you to you for all the help you have rendered to me since i joined NAIRALAND. I am proficient on VB 2005, Java, Html, Asp.net, visual J# and a little of oracle, win32, and XML. I also have a good judgement on GUI's. The project is similar to one i am currently working on only that mine is not school or education based but i guess it is still the type of data work am working on. Presently the my school (UNILAG) would benefit greatly, cause i am a witness to all the stress we go through any time you arer looking for your file, it just of recent that they went online with data. Talk of the MS office suite i think its high time Microsoft stops dominating the industry. We can also add to the project a complex text editor and a spreadsheet(both having an XML based extension, making data from the project easily transferrable into the text editor and spreadsheet, this might save them a whole lot of stress) that does all the Ms Office does and more, hereby creating awareness of Nigerian Developers. On later aspects of the projects we could put auto saving recovery processes that run every 35mins or so. I hope i could fit into the team.

I am a one of the youngest programmers in nigeria and i av just made one program using the .net framework. I can assure you that more of my other programs are in construction and the whole world would soon hear about me. Peace.

Yo! I just designed a software and i want to make the GUI for it splendid, i'm thinkin of vista style with a little teenage creativity of gold on black. Yeah i av designed a couple of dumb games wit c++ and vb. The main is for you to allow your creativity to flow. Know how the game should be; not too hard and not too easy. If you are really talking of large complex games like the ones ea games do then you must be ready to leave your comfort zone i.e be ready to find the right person for the game so as to get the body frames for the frames you are going to render for the game if it is going to be a 3D game. The camera positions should also be judged very well. I guess you av seen all this new animation movies by pixar and co. Building games run on the same principle of frame rendering and camera positioning. also the game should av a very good concept and story line. Nice background music also influece the users of the game. Also making a nice 3D game requires teamwork and good graphics. This is all i can give for now. Send you some more info 2morrow. ciao.
