Thanks for this. Below are the figures exactly as stated on the application and supporting documents:

Monthly income: ₦400,000
Monthly expenses (as declared): approximately ₦60,000 (covering groceries, transport, utilities, and household needs). supported by her bank statement
Total trip cost declared: £890
Personal contribution: £490
Son’s contribution (mine): £400
At the time of application, her closing bank balance was ₦3,483,619.56, with an opening balance of ₦2,447,798.86 and regular monthly salary credits shown on the statement (3-month bank statement provided). These figures were explained in a separate financial explanation letter submitted with the application
For me, I provided my Barclays 1-month statement, thats is the most you can provide from the Barclays statement document with a balance of approx 6k pounds and three months' payslip with an average take-home of approx £4k
Happy to clarify further if helpful, as I don't want to get entangled in a rejection loop.
From what I can see, her personal contribution toward the trip may be higher than 2.5 times her disposable income when calculated using the OANDA exchange rate that visa officers typically rely on. You might want to consider slightly reducing her stated contribution in the application and increasing your own contribution, if possible.
Overall, the rest of the financial details look quite good. Going forward, it would simply be helpful to continue keeping the bank account in good order for any future application.

Note my mother inlaw visited and returned to nigeria as at when due.
Please provide the financial details that were entered on the application form, as this will help to clarify the situation. So far, only her income and total savings have been mentioned. If you could also answer the following questions, it would allow others to give more informed input:

What amount was stated on the form as her monthly expenses? This is needed to calculate her disposable income.

What amount was stated as the total cost of the trip? This will help determine whether the expenses exceed 2.5 times her disposable income.

Please i lost my wife during my first application in 2018, now I'm married to another wife and we also did court marriage, do i need to proof it? Because my late wife name was in my last application, and now i want to use my current wife's name.... please advise me... because I want to do it myself this time and get it right.
You should have her death certificate, submit it with your application and include the incident in your cover note

This is how the application form was fill on employment status.
But this is contradictory. Why did she say she has not worked in any of the above organization? or was there a list of jobs on the form for this particular question?
If she has no previous work experience aside the ones listed, she should have filled not applicable there .
Aside this, there are other discrepancies with the financial statement as regards the income and expenses that was filled on the form. You need to work on that

You may have to possibly contact NVC for next steps.

Good evening my people. I used to be a very active member of this thread 10 years ago . Was active until COVID time but lost access to my original account. Infact, I was one of the most active here then. We used to have this person from the consulate that helped with Q&A. We used to have a thread that was strictly for immigrants visa shenanigan. I don’t know if the thread still exist. I did my spouse immigrant visa 2011.

I have a small DILEMMA and need some help . I have kinda lost touch on the current policies AND updates as it pertains to immigrant visa . A lot have changed the past few years.

In 2016, my parents came to US on visiting visa. My dad was retired and my mom headmistress. My mom stayed for 1 month then and went back to Nigeria cos she couldn’t leave her school for too long. My dad stayed back and I ended up filing for AOS for him to immigrant visa. He got his green card and then got his citizenship in 2023.

After my mom came back to naija, I filed for immigrant visa for her as I’m a citizen and It was at the NVC stage in Lagos in 2019 when I stopped processing it . All I needed is to renew and update her case every year since then so the case can be active. I write or call nvc to keep the case active. I never submitted docs needed at Lagos to schedule for interview because of some personal issues . Marriage is hard oo. Story for another day . But I didn’t want her to come then. My dad was doing whatever I would have needed help with.

The thing now is, I want to go ahead and submit all the supporting documents needed in Lagos to be able to have her scheduled for interview. What is the CURRENT WAIT TIME for this process? The only thing holding for me to submit this docs is that I am waiting for her to get a new police report .

Secondly, my dad works. He’s been working for 6 years now and pays his taxes diligently . He’s a full time worker and has his citizenship. Is it BEST for him to apply for her but that means that we will start all over again from the scratch.

Any help/input will be well appreciated.
Thank you
I think the immigrant visa petition for your mum has likely expired by now, since there has been no follow-up for more than a year. You will need to file a new petition. Your dad can also file a new petition for her, there is no issue with having two petitions running at the same time. Since this is an immediate-family category, the process is faster and usually takes a maximum of about two years.

Did you send both passport? although the passport number of the old passport is always printed on the new passport, hopefully they will work based on that. The logic is, if anything change as regards your application, you have to inform IRCC by webform.

Good Afternoon everyone, has anyone done change of name on their International passport and had to pay 35k to an immigration officer dor vetting. I'm just coming back from Kaduna NIS office and the officer I was directed to told me they don't get in their office that vetting has to be done in Abuja. So its either I know someone in their Abuja office who can help me or he charges me the stated fee to help put a call through to Abuja. Then after capturing I'll still need to pay 10.5k to get my documents signed because of my change of name. I just left there disgusted and disappointed by our failed system. Please share tips on how I can cross this hurdle if you've experienced similar issue

Cos their asylum claim was fake.
It does not necessary means the asylum claim is fake.
When asylum is sought and given, that means it was established that there was a life threatening situation with the person wherever he or she is coming from, and the threat or risk still exists. Traveling back to that same place under asylum, nullifies this claim, this is under humanitarian law of the UN.

Sorry, I haven't had time to come on here.

V.O: Hi, so what's your purpose for wanting to travel to the United States?
Me: For my annual vacation
V.O: Where in the United States would you be travelling to?
Me: New York
V.O: Why New York?
Me: Oh because New York has some good tourist attractions like the Statue of Liberty, Times Square...
V.O.: Have you travelled before?
Me: Yes I have, I've been to the UK twice, 2023 and 2024.. and then this year to Barbados.
V.O: Do you have friends in the UK?
Me: Yes I do
V.O: What do you do for work?
Me: I'm a banker, I work with Guaranty Trust Bank as a Relationship Manager.
V.O: Would you be travelling alone?
Me: Yes.
V.O: why?
Me: Oh I'll be travelling alone because my wife would be busy with work and our new born.
V.O: Oh You have kids?
Me: Yes
V.O: How many?
Me: Just one, our daughter.
V.O: Are you looking at having more?
Me: Oh yes we do.

He then went on to type for like 30secs and then goes: "I'm sorry you do not qualify for a visa at this blah blah blah"

Inside my mind I was like Oga give me my passport make I dey go house abeg cheesy
You did really well with you interview and your profile is sound enough. The VO based his/her decision on emotion and prejudice. If you still have your UK visa, go to the Uk and enjoy yourself. Find time to travel together with your family to other countries, after then you can apply to the US again. Keep you heads up

After coming across this post by @readonenaire I also decided to get your opinion @giselle237 @Cashmadam I too think the ECO didn’t consider my situation correctly.
They stated what my sister is contributing as me relying on financial support because my financial circumstances in Nigeria can’t make me afford the trip but that is erroneous as I submitted a balance of 15M with consistent salary entries of 2.150M per month(I’m a senior software engineer in Nigeria). My sister supporting is because I will be staying at her house and she will most likely feed me, so the significant expense to me is just the flight fee.

They also stated that I declared I had no dependent which is wrong because I filled in the form( attached) that my aged widowed mother lives with me and I’m responsible for her well-being( even submitted an affidavit)

Like @readonenaire I’m also not looking to overturn I just want them to acknowledge this, because they also erroneously denied me in 2021 and I let it slide since the letter said I had no right to appeal, please do you think I have grounds to complain at least? My intention was to use my 3 weeks leave to visit and return I’m very much okay with my present job.
Did you mention in the form that your sister would provide financial support in the amount of £1,500? If so, that is likely the issue, because the Visa Officer (VO) may see it as if you are not capable of sponsoring yourself. You should have only indicated that she is providing accommodation, since you will be staying at her place for the duration of your visit.
If you did not mention the financial support in the form, then you may need to appeal the decision.
I usually advise people: if you can afford your trip, sponsor yourself. You can mention that you have a family member there, but book hotel accommodation. That way, the VO knows you are capable of supporting yourself financially.
Also, did you submit any evidence of relationship between you and your mum when applying?

The information is not publicly available; it was received from other applicants who were contacted by the embassy and given an interview date. The embassy release this information to applicants every Friday. There are other platforms where similar updates are shared, and I think it’s best to post it here as well so that others can stay informed about what’s happening.

Sorry for disturbing you, during the layovers are they going to call for luggage or they will redirect my luggage to the next transit flight.
After your check-in in Lagos, you will get your luggage at the final destination (New York). You don't need to do anything during transit, except otherwise stated in the flight itinerary or you will be changing airport in London.

Good evening, everyone. Please, I have a question regarding change of name. I applied for family reunion using my maiden surname, which is the name on the passport I used for the application. However, I have now changed my surname to my husband’s name.

Do you think it’s advisable to obtain a new international passport bearing my current (married) name, even though my present passport is still valid for another 20 months? Also, can the visa be issued in my new name if I submit the new passport?
If you have done an affidavit for a change of name due to marriage and also have the newspaper publication, i think you do not need to be too concern about changing your name on your passport.
The visa will be issued in your maiden name

Finally got my passport back and visa was approved (2 years).

We were three who applied together, however others received theirs within a week, although they applied for 6 months visa. So naturally, I was worried.

I had been to the UK 3 times but my last trip was over 10 years ago. This trip came up impromptu so my accounts were in a mess. Although my office is sponsoring, however I included my bank statements to show evidence of salary payments. 3 accounts: one receives basic salary, the second receives allowances and the third shows savings. No serious money in 3 of them, except for little money in the savings. It was after I had submitted that I learnt I needed to explain deposits that were not from my employer. I had a lot of them…some as much as 3m. Submitted only 3 months statements.

I’m just grateful that the anxiety is over.

NB: I have a valid US visa and have been to the US over 6 times in the last 10 years.
You got this visa based on your previous travel history to the UK and your US travel history in the last ten years. I tell people that even when your application is not well packaged as regards account statement, and you have a decent travel history, chances are higher compared to a first timer. The long duration for issuing the visa is to investigate your application very well because you applied for a 2 year visa compared to the other two person. This is normal when applicants move from 6-Months visa to 2-, 5-, or 10- years visa. If you use this visa well and maintain your decent travel history, your next application will be seamless and swift. My current two year visa, i used only my pay slips , i did not attach any bank statement. I could do that because i have been traveling to the UK every year since 2015, some years 2-3 times per year and i never spent more than 2 weeks on every visit. I got the visa in 5 working days, and this was a standard application.

Good evening all. Someone applied around middle of 2024.
But now the question is what will happen if she gives birth before they call her for appointment or before the visa is out at 1year 11months which will also be around mid of 2026. ie she had a baby before she could travel...
As soon as the baby is born, get the baby's international passport and mail the embassy to add the baby to the mother's application. attach a copy of the birth certificate and the international passport, and do not forget to add details of the mother and her application number.

My question now is the agent assisting with this whole process is requiring her to pay the new updated application fees? Please I need help, if we go ahead with payment will this not change change the appointment date, NB we have the appointment confirmation letter already when payment was made in the year 2023.

. How much do you suggest? I plan on adding my mom has my sponsor she’ll be sponsoring with £3,000.
oh, that is new info to the conversation. If your mum is sponsoring you with £3,000, then £1,000 is enough so far it is not more than double of your monthly disposable income.

Hi good day, please for someone who wants to travel to the uk for Christmas vacation (10days trip) Dec 23rd - January 3rd. How much should I put in the section that says… “how much are you personally planning to spend on your visit to UK” is £1,000 enough for 10days trip. ??

Also are this the complete requirements;

Employment letter
Salary increment letter
Leave letter
Introduction letter from work
ID card
Pay slip
Bank statement (is 3months okay ?)
Reference letter from bank
Hotel reservation
Travel itinerary
Previous visas(USA)
Land documents.

What else do I need it to add?? Do I need to add flight itinerary. I’ll appreciate your help
1. £1,000 is not enough, i don't think it will cover your flight ticket.
2. The documents listed are ok, if it is your first application, make your bank statement 6 months.
3. You do not need a flight itinerary
