iyatrustee:Well said. I don't see this country get better |
The real secret behind the kerfuffle that erupted between SUG President of University of Abuja, Sulaiman Rabiu and the NANS President, Bamidele Danielson Akpan is beyond the rhetoric you've seen on television, newspapers and social media, only a political economist would understand the economy determinism of the crisis and I will like to expose my distinguished readers to some basic realities. First of all, anyone that says NANS led by Bamidele Danielson is championing this Anti-Xenophobic Struggle because of the attacks on Nigerians in South Africa is either ill-informed about the real gist, or does not understand NANS at all, or intentionally denying the fact because of what he gains from the vicious escapade. NANS struggle against Xenophobia in South Africa does not start today, between 2016 and 2018, two former NANS Presidents led separate Anti-Xenophobia struggle, but the struggle always ended whenever the South Africa Firms operating in Nigeria settle NANS President monetarily, I wouldn't like to dabble into that. Just like his predecessors, the current NANS President, Bamidele Danielson wants to get the usual CASH OUT 'money' that gluttonous NANS Leaders make from South Firms operating in Nigeria, using the unfortunate attack that happened to our compatriots in South Africa as the base for advancement of selfish interests, Bamidele issued a threat to South Africa Embassy and the firms operating in Nigeria, in response to this threat, South Africa Embassy invited the Bamidele Danielson for discussion. Well, I can be quoted anywhere, Mr. Obong King extended the invitation to NANS on behalf of SA Embassy around late July 2019, SA Embassy booked Airpeace Airline for Bamidele Danielson and other 15 members of his Cartel, that means 16 persons made the journey in total from Abuja to Lagos, SA Embassy paid for 16 Rooms for each of the Cartel Members and lodged them at Eko Hotel and Tower in VI, Lagos State. Did Bamidele Danielson tell Nigerian students or general public about this meeting and merriment? The answer is No. How many SUG Presidents were among the 16 attendees? No any SUG President. Present at the meeting in Eko Hotel and Tower were 16 members of Bamidele's Cartel (No SUG President), the Chairman South Africa Chambers of Commerce, Mr Funsho Philip, Head of South Africa Consulate in Lagos, and Obong King. Representatives of South Africa asked Bamidele what he wanted and he demanded for 100 million Naira as compensation before he would back off from the threat he had issued but the Embassy disagreed, the meeting ended in deadlock but the Embassy still gave each member of the Cartel that followed Bamidele a piece of Brown Envelope that contained #30, 000 each. Did Bamidele Danielson tell Nigerian students about this? No. After this deadlock, Bamidele Danielson renewed his threat against South Africa firms and Embassy, he issued a statement that gave 7 days Ultimatum to South Africa firms in Nigeria on 7th of August thinking SA Embassy would call him back for renegotiation, but they were not ready to give what he demanded. No ordinary Nigerian student knows about these heinous cum vicious machinations using their collective patrimony, Bamidele thinks he was wiser than all and he could use the head of about 40 million Nigerian students to advance his personal cum selfish agenda, our heads would always stand on his way, people that used it in the past are nobody today. With the ultimatum, Bamidele Danielson ordered NANS and Students to start picketing South African Firms across Nigeria, some persons did the picketing with sincerity while some other persons did it to get a share, paradventure Bamidele gets paid. The University of Abuja SUG President, Sulaiman Rabiu released a Press Statement that his students were not available for the Protest for three major reasons that I know, one, Bamidele Danielson as NANS President didn't consult the Senators across Nigeria, two, the wind of information blew to him that the struggle was for personal gains, three, Shiite protest that had become bloody was ongoing in Abuja then and he couldn't risk life of any of his students. Bamidele Danielson considered him as enemy because he refused to mobilize University of Abuja for protest with him at a time Shiite - Security confrontation was at it peak, then, they were thinking of dealing with him whenever they had the opportunity. Also, another vital point that needs to be noted is that, South Africa High Commissioner was in University of Abuja about two months ago for a program, before Bamidele even started his threat, he met with the SUG President and he promised to partner with the University in area of Development. That shows communication between Uniabuja and SA Embassy preceded Bamidele's activities. The young man, SUG President of University of Abuja was invited with the Leaders of other youth based organizations via mail and he honored the invitation, NANS was also invited to be part of discussion but refused to attend because NANS wouldn't be able to do the type of negotiation (scope) they did in Eko Hotel Lagos in a place where there is Media, SUG President (that doesn't understand NANS scope) and other youths organizations. During the discussion, a Journalist asked the SUG President who he was representing, he said it succinctly and publicly that he was representing University of Abuja not NANS. The same journalist called Bamidele Danielson to inform him that the SUG President of University of Abuja was at the venue, Bamidele felt the SUG President would jeopardize his chance of getting the Money he was expecting from South Africa Embassy, he therefore mobilized his people to the venue. Getting to the venue, the SUG President of University of Abuja was coming out, Bamidele and his crew didn't ask him any question, rather, they started bombarding him and four other students that followed him with slaps and punches, the students were confused and started pleading for a crime they never committed. Bamidele rushed to the Social Media to accuse the Union President of different unfounded offences, he sponsored media trying to prove a point that never existed, an attack on one SUG President is an attack on all the SUG Presidents, it is University of Abuja that was attacked by Bamidele Danielson today, it may be your institution that would be attacked tomorrow, in order to avert continuation of such vicious attack, University of Abuja students have declared Bamidele Danielson as perona nongrata in their University while Bamidele directed the Senate President to proclaim an unconstitutional suspension. Until we establish the fact that a NANS President is not a God but a supposed mere representative of Students, we shall never relent. We are rightly informed that the NANS stakeholders that have turned NANS to business over years are regrouping and planning because they considered their pot of soup threatened, but we are not afraid because we are for the genuine emancipation of Nigerian students. I know they are targeting me for my stance on this issue, but if I'm on the path of truth and justice, the Lord of Aluta would never divorce me, but if I'm not, may the lord of Aluta judge me accordingly. Ondo state government, through the Governing Council Chairman, Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Mr Banji Alabi, just terminated the appointment of all members of staff of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic Staff Primary and Secondary School. According to Mr Alabi, government can no longer fund the school and wants to “sell it”, so the services of all members of staff are no longer needed.

A female undergraduate of Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba Akoko, Ondo State was allegedly raped by some soldiers stationed at the military checkpoint in Ikare Akoko, Akoko North-East Local Government Area of the state, SaharaReporters has learnt. The student, a 300-level in the department of Religious and African Studies, was allegedly harassed, molested and raped inside a post close to the military checkpoint. One of the sources said the victim was raped while returning from the campus. He revealed that one of the soldiers simply identified as "Lance Corporal Sunday" has been arrested and also detained by the 32 Artillery Brigade. "We were travelling from Akungba in a minibus when the armed soldiers flagged us down at their checkpoint on Ikare road. "Immediately, one of them searched our vehicle and loads and saw the lady (victim) and asked her to come down from the vehicle. "While this was going on, there was silence inside the bus and when the lady came down, she was accosted to the military post. "They later told others to move on while they held the lady hostage and out of fear, we had to leave the soldiers and the victim. "An hour later, we began to suspect why they held the lady in a journey of fifteen minutes because nothing incriminating was on her. We later found out she was raped by the soldiers." He added that the student had been taken to the Ondo State Specialist Hospital in Ikare for treatments. Olawale Oguntause, the chief medical director of the government hospital, confirmed that the rape victim was brought to the facility. Oguntuase, however, refused to confirm or deny if the female victim was raped. "As I am speaking to you, I can only tell you that the lady was brought to the hospital over a rape case. But the results of the medical examination carried out on her is not yet ready,” he told SaharaReporters. Victor Akinpelumi, the university’s spokesperson, said an investigation had been launched into the incident. "The university has set up a panel to look into the matter," he said. A resident of Ikare, Ibrahim Ayodele, said he saw some enraged students when they came to report at the station. "The incident is true because I saw the students in Ikare Police Station where they came to report the case. Many of them were angry and even threatened to protest the rape case by shutting down the road,” he said. A police source in Ikare confirmed the rape case in a telephone chat. He said some friends of the victim visited the station on Wednesday around 7 pm to lodge a complaint. "Some students came and report the case here and we have started our investigation but we are taking the case to our headquarters in Akure. "The victim even came with them to the station and mentioned the main culprit who masterminded the rape among the soldiers," he said. Femi Joseph, spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, said he had not been brief on the case. Abubakar Zakari, the commandant of the 32 Artillery Brigade, said the rape allegation was a "blackmail" on his officers who are all manning the military checkpoint in Ikare. http://saharareporters.com/2019/08/01/just-soldiers-allegedly-rape-aaua-student-checkpoint

Students of Adekunle Ajasin University in Akungba Akoko Community of Ondo state, yesterday took to the Popular social media platform twitter, to call the attention of the People and government of Ondo state to their displeasure over the delayed reopening of the University for students to resume a news Academic Session. The students, who have been off session since they finished exams on the 7th of January 2018. Occupied twitter with the hastag #LowAAUATuitionCall4Resumption, gathering over 3,000 tweets in about 3 hours of their campaign. They called for the prompt resumption of their school, while also saying no to the proposed fee increament. It will be recalled that Governor Rotimi Akeredolu had said in several public fora that their school fee will be increased due to paucity of funds in the state coffers. Authoritative Source in the school management however told Nigerian Cable News that the delayed resumption of the school is due to the failure of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu to Appoint a new Governing council for the school, after the tenure of the outgone had finished. Our source added that some pivotal decisions must be taken by the school at the beginning of news sessions like this, and that they can not be taken by the school management without the knowledge and concent of the governing council. Our source further said that it is quite unprecedented in the history of the school, for it to resume a new session without a governing council. The Chief Press secretary to the governor however assured in a phone chat with our correspondent that the AAUA governing council will be announced today. https://www.nigeriancablenewsonline.com/campus-news/ondo-students-occupy-twitter-protest-proposed-tuition-increament-delayed-resumption/

This said girlfriend knows so well that I don't have any other girl elsewhere and that she's all I got and I love her so much. Nigeria’ s men basketball national team D’ Tigers were dethroned as African Champions on Saturday , after a 77 - 65 defeat to co - hosts Tunisia in the final of the 2017 Afrobasket Championship . D’ Tigers reached the final after defeating co - hosts and fierce rivals Senegal 76 - 71 in an explosive semi-final match on Friday to set up a clash with the Tunisians , who sent Morocco packing 60 - 52 in the other semi - final tie . It was sweet revenge for the Tunisians , who were beaten 70 - 59 by D ’Tigers in the semi- finals of the 2015 AfroBasket in Tunis . Alex Nwora ’ s side managed to win the first quarter of the game before surrendering to the superior firepower of the North Africans in the next two quarters and earning a draw in the final phase of the game . D’ Tigers , who were trying to become the first team to successfully defend the title since Angola won it in 2007 and 2009 , started on a bright note , cruising past the hosts 14 – 8 in the first quarter but that was as far as it got , as they lost the second 17 - 10 . Backed by a vociferous home crowd at the packed Salle Omnisport de Rades , Radès, on the outskirts of Tunis , Tunisia used clutch three- point shooting to keep Nigeria at bay in the second half . And the tactics paid off, as they won the third quarter 27 - 16 . But D’ Tigers managed a last roar to defend their title in the final phase of the game , but it was too little too late as the fourth quarter ended 25 – 25 to earn the hosts a 77 - 65 win and a second African title. Ike Diogu led with 20 points and 10 rebounds, while Ziyed Chennoufi led Tunisia with 19 points . captain Diogu was named the tournament’ s Most Valuable Player . Diogu , alongside teammate Ikenna Iroegbu , Tunisia duo Mohamed Hadidane and Mourad El Mabrouk, as well as Senegal’ s Gorgui Dieng were named in the tournament’ s All - Star team . The hardworking Diogu was the highest scorer at the championship averaging 22 . 4 points per game in his five appearances in Rades . Iroegbu had the highest number of assists per game (5 . 6 ), while Tunisian Makram Ben Romdhane had the best rebounds per game ( 10 . 6 ) at the tournament. Only Ike Diogu made D’ Tigers squad from the 2015 cup - winning squad with the likes of key players Chamberlain Oguchi , Seni Lawal , Aminu brothers Al -Farouq and Alade missing out . Tunisia also played the tournament without Salah Mejri, a 7 - foot- 2 centre for the Dallas Mavericks . Mejri , who is recovering from a knee injury , was the MVP of Tunisia ’ s title run in the 2011 AfroBasket . Nigeria beat Ivory Coast 78 - 77 in their first Group A match , beat Mali 90 - 67 but lost 83 - 77 to DR Congo in their final group game . They defeated Cameroon 106 - 91 in the quarter - final on Thursday before Friday’ s win over Senegal. http://punchng.com/tunisia-dethrone-dtigers-in-afrobasket-final/ |

As members of the striking Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Monday concluded their zonal meeting to deliberate on the offers made by the Federal Government last Thursday in Abuja members have kept sealed lips on the outcome of the discussions. It would be recalled that the national executive of the union had directed its members on Sunday to meet at zonal levels nationwide to discuss on the fresh offers by the Federal Government for acceptance or to continue with the strike. INDEPENDENT gathered that the conduct of the meeting though generated a lot of heated arguments on the fresh proposals, it was, however, disclosed that agreements were reached. Though outcome of the meeting in all the zones were not disclosed, Dr. Adelaja Odukoya, University of Lagos (UNILAG) ASUU chairman confirmed the meetings were held in all the zones nationwide. According to him decisions reached, which were not for public consumption now, have been sent to the National Executive Council (NEC) for collation and decision, saying that the outcome of the exercise would guide the next direction of the strike. Emphasising that the strike continues nationwide until the government and well-meaning Nigerians address issues facing public university education as it concerns all the issues raised by the union. The Federal Government had during the meeting with the ASUU leadership in Abuja offered to pay N23 billion and a monthly payment of N1.5 billion pending the outcome of the forensic audit being carried out by the Ministry of Finance. INDEPENDENT also gathered that the government had also yielded to other demands by the ASUU leadership led by its President, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, Vice-President, Emmanuel Osodeke, a former union president, Dr. Dipo Fashina, and another member. However, sources said part of the issues that generated heated arguments during the zonal meetings was the issue of the position of Dr. Chris Ngige, the Minister of Labour’s rejection of the union’s demand for exemption of universities from the Treasury Single Account (TSA). It is expected that the outcome of the zonal meetings that will go through a rigorous scrutiny and extensive deliberations would be tabled before the NEC of the union for deliberations next week. ANSWER Speaking of Jesus' Second Coming, Matthew 24:36 (and Mark 13:32) tells us, “No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” When Jesus spoke these words to the disciples, even He had no knowledge of the date and time of His return. Although Jesus was fully God (John 1:1, 14), when He became a man, He voluntarily restricted the use of certain divine attributes (Philippians 2:6– . He did not manifest them unless directed by the Father (John 4:34; 5:30; 6:38). He demonstrated His omniscience on several occasions (cf. John 2:25; 3:13), but He voluntarily restricted that omniscience to only those things God wanted Him to know during the days of His humanity (John 15:15). Such was the case regarding the knowledge of the date and time of His return. After He was resurrected, Jesus resumed His full divine knowledge (cf. Matthew 28:18; Acts 1:7).Matthew 24:36 clearly states that the Father alone knows when Jesus' return will be. Verses such as John 5:30; 6:38; 8:28-29; 10:30; 12:49; 14:28, 31; and Matthew 26:39, 42 demonstrate Jesus' submission to the Father as well as their Oneness in the Godhead. Yes, they are both God. But some things Jesus had apparently chosen to "give up the rights" to be privy to during His earthly ministry (see Philippians 2:5-11). Jesus, now exalted in Heaven, surely knows all, including the timing of His Second Coming. |
