New Owerri is developing and expanding fast. Abagworo: Such a contrast to the new Owerri areas where everywhere is green and spaced out. Sometimes its good to explore the low class parts of town to know reality. A visitor from Port Harcourt who is lodged at say Links Hotel that uses the newly constructed roads like Nworie, Dee Sam and Akachi to go from one part of Owerri to the other might not know Douglas road exists. I will take tour of 2 other suspected ghettos at Orji/Uratta/Amakohia and World bank/Umuguma next time. |

I think Lord's Choosen Charismatic Revival Church is building a University in Imo State. UnknownT: There is one in Nkwerre. Hezekiah University, it should be owned by Daddy Hezekiah. I have forgotten the name of his church, but the man is popular, claims that he raised a dead man years back. Then Orlu Catholic Diocese has started making efforts to start her own university, Trinitas University |

WOW !!! This is good news to Ndi Igbo RareDiamonds: Masters Energy to hire 3000 staff on Petrochemicals plant
By Anayo Korie
Ag Energy Editor Masters Energy Group of Companies has set the ball rolling to address unemployment problem ravaging Nigerian youths, with plans to hire over 3000 direct workers at its multi-billion Petrochemical Complex located in Uturu, Abia state when completed and streamed up by the first quarter of 2015, the Vice Chairman /CEO of the company, Mr Vincent Ajala has said .
Ajala who addressed newsmen who paid a courtesy visit to company in Lagos over the weekend said, the plant has reached about 80 per cent completion, adding that when operational by next year it is expected to produce fertilizer, plastic products and other bye-products that will aid the production of consumer and producer goods in the country.
He explained that the product of the plant would be sold to both domestic and foreign markets which will go a long way to earn more income to the all the stakeholders .
The Executive Director and Company Secretary , Mrs Patience Dappa who spoke at the event explained that the main objective of building the Petrochemical complex was geared at creating more jobs in the catchment states of Imo, Abia, Anambra and Enugu where the plants were located ,adding that the project when operational will take some many people away from the labour market and engage in productive ventures aimed at improving national economy.
[b]The Masters Energy boss said work was also ongoing on the multi-billion Masters Energy integrated industrial complex in Isikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State. Ogah further stated that the project would boost the economy of the state by attracting investments to the city.
He noted that seven companies comprising fertilizer plant, plastic plant, lubricant plants that produce engine oil, grease, hydraulic, transmission oil, and gear, noodles plant, and steel plant, all of which are at over 70 per cent completion were already springing up within his company’s industrial city in Abia State. Ogah said he never knew his modest contribution in job creation and entrepreneurial growth in the country would merit any recognition, adding that he never solicited for or paid for any of the numerous awards he had received. It appears those clamouring for the reduction of hotels in Owerri are about to achieve their desire. One thing that is clear, is that the Imo state Govt generates a lot of revenue from hotels, bars, clubs and other relaxation service providers. These high taxes are meant to serve as a control measure for hotel proliferation but the volume of demand for hospitality services in Imo State keeps the establishment and supply of hospitality services in Imo State rising. Entreprenuers are motivated by profits and high demand. |

Imo Govt Sets To Prune Down Hotels as Imo Celebrate World Tourism Day Stanley Uzoaru — Sep 28, 2014 | Leave a comment Following the number of wholesome hotels in Imo State, the state government has announced plans to shut down hotels established without official approval and operating below standards without relevant security devices and medical aids. The state commissioner for Transport and Tourism, Chief Ken Anaeme disclosed this while briefing newsmen on programmes slated for the “2014 World Tourism Day” celebration in the state with the theme: “Tourism and Community Development”. He said that the measure is part of government’s efforts to sanitize, strengthen and boost tourism in the state. Anaeme who also denied allegations of government imposition of N40,000 on each hotel proprietor in the state for the purchase of a piece of the nation’s flag said that a neutral body mutually selected by the government and the hotel owners is rather in charge of the project, adding that the N40,000 levy was a product of mutual agreement between the hotel owners and company in question. Speaking extensively on the economic benefits of tourism, which, according to him, include job creation, business promotion, site seeing, rural transformation and spiritual uplift, Chief Anaeme said that the state currently boasts of over 200 hotels and over 150 tourist sites some of which are either fully developed or are undergoing development. “We are not forcing hoteliers to buy pieces of the nation’s flags at N40,000 per piece but as corporate bodies, they (the hoteliers) must put up the Nigerian flag in their offices and premises and there is a company in charge of this”. The commissioner drew attention to government’s free education programme, road constructions, general hospitals, provision of infrastructural facilities and the Blue Lake Treasure at Oguta, which, according to him, are all geared toward promoting tourism in the state, stressing that the World Tourism Day which takes place on the 27th of September annually as established by the United Nations, was meant to showcase the rich tourism potentials of the state to the world as encapsulated in a compendium for the information and awareness of members of the public. http://leadership.ng/news/385459/imo-govt-sets-prune-hotels |

millionaireman: With massive depopulation of Okigwe and Orlu and little development and social infrastructure provided by govt in them to attract people, the dual carrriage ways in Okigwe and Orlu shall wash away in future without any need to repair them. They turn to liabilty. He roads built by previous govts in Orlu areas are hardly passable now, so figure it out how roads constitute development in this part of the world. There is no law that states that Gov. Rochas Okorocha must build more than 99% of social infrastructure in Imo state in the state capital, as he has been doing. As for Orlu and industrialization, during Mbakwe admin, Orlu was classified next to Aba as the most industrialized in then Imo state. What Imo state needs is development in all of its nooks and corners, not Gov Korocha attitude to show off that he is rushing to make the state capital a mega city overnight with nearly all the state's resources. Gov Rochas has attracted population to Orlu zone by attracting two tertiary institutions to Orlu zone, massive road constructions, building of a shopping complex, building of new market, new schools, new hospitals, new govt attracted investments etc to Orlu zone. What did Udenwa and Ohakim do for Orlu ? Is Orlu the only LGA in Imo State ? Personally, I want power to go to Okigwe zone in 2015. I don't want an APC government in Imo State. Imo State is not for APC !!! |
