it seems nigerians have acute short memory , if not i dont think buhari inability to form a cabinet after 3 weeks should even be an issue , in 2015 , it took him almost 6 months to name his ministers , i will be shocked and surprised if he names his ministers this time around before 3 months. since nigerians voted for him they should stop complaining and just allow him to work at his pace .

If the commission has closed, why where you people still asking him about his slip to collect the passport. Is it that when he provides the slip, the commision will go ahead to give him his passport even though the office hour is over. 2. Do you need a payment slip to collect your passport because I know payment is made before passport is produced. So, if the passport has been produced, why didn't you guys just check your system and issue him his passport by comparing the photographs on the passport with his face and signature. Nigeria is a Zoo country.

To me PDP has no tangible evidence .the issue of whistle blower will still bring another negative thing for them .if the whistleblower can't prove his source of information. it is now the problem for him of blowing fake whistle which has its constitutional punishment and if he can prove it with his source of information which can not be without INEC Server ,it is now another case of hacking which I know is a criminal case under the constitution . PDP would have patiently start their case with tangible evidences than all these or not even contest the outcome of the election if they don't have evidences to back their claims .As election can not be won on Media and the case too can not be won on Media .

My dear, I know nothing since I am not a lawyer. Most of the information I have comes from watching law related series like Boston Legal, Suits, House of Cards etc.

Hacking into a government server is a crime. And that alone can send you to jail. I did some online studies in programming and I know that if one took the pains to hack into a government server, then it will be silly not to alter the results to serve your purpose.

That alone is why PDP needs a better story than saying that the document was hacked. Now they are coming up with the whistleblower story which has lots of holes already. I don't know who heads the think tank team of Atiku but surely they can do better

I just read through the whistleblower act passed in 2016.

In a nutshell, whistleblowers should report to the authorities in order to ensure their safety and concealment of their identity but this one chose to report to Atiku.

In situations, where a whistleblower can prove that monies have been stolen, he or she is entitled to a fraction of that money, otherwise, no renumeration is guaranteed in unrelated matters. Again, our whistleblower stands to benefit financially if he reports to Atiku.

And so on.

Perhaps the strangest thing here is that this INEC official turned whistleblower had chosen to give this document to Atiku rather than report to the authorities.
Isn't he a government official? Who better to protect your interest if not the government or the Police? Pray, what reasons did he have to go to Atiku? Was he being financially compensated to release the document? Or is he simply a matyr looking out for the public interest in ensuring that our mandate is well protected?

No one knows but he sure has a lot of questions to answer

There is a reason Buhari refused to sign the amended Electoral Act that stated that only the results transmitted by card readers are admissible.

Assuming Buhari signed that, he would have lost the election cos Atiku planned to manipulate INEC's servers and put the figures he's displaying about as the actual figures.

The present INEC chair ought to have been arrested, prosecuted, convicted and jailed over this server issue.
Budgetary provision was made for server in the 2019 electoral budget so what is the Prof.Mamud Yakubu INEC denying for goodness sake? And why is the EFCC not on his tail yet?

INEC has not committed any crime or electoral malpractices by testing the server in 2018, but as far as 2019 elections are concerned, there is no server any where either software server or hardware server. That is final...no case everybody should get set for 2023 election.

Are you into IT? If yes, it'd be easier for me to explain things to you but here goes.

INEC placed order for card readers, HW, SW with guidelines on specifications and desired mode of operation of its devices.

Of course there are provisions for uploading results from polling units via card readers.

But on realizing the big challenges on using an election result server, INEC decided against employing it for 2019 elections as time frame is too short to address challenges highlighted.

Do you know that you can have a million servers in one company/institution?
OK, so do you know that you can have a million servers in one building?
Now, do you know that you can have a million servers on a single set of hardware equipment? Thanks to virtualization.

Now do you understand that accreditation server is different from election results server?

Which brings me to something I said to one of you naysayers: hope you know that data can be uploaded to a combination of hardware and software which isn't a server but a mere database.



Anyway, let me have a ghost session of questions and answers which will help you understand.


First question: Was hardware & some software purchased?
Answer: Yes! Presumably, card readers, server reliant hardware, power backups, virtualization environments (Microsoft hyper-V, RedHat, vSphere, Proxmox etc), server software (Microsoft, oracle, IBM, tera data, SAP etc) and other requirements like network backbone choice, ISP, security mechanisms etc.


Second question: Do we have a result server?
Answer: No


Third question: Why would you say that after conceding that we purchased equipment?
Answer: After realizing the huge challenges with implementing such voting system, INEC felt it was needless to go ahead and purchase licenses, run installations, train technical staff all within a short period of time for what will not be used rather, they concentrated their efforts and resources towards preparing for conventional voting albeit with contemporary accreditation procedure.


Fourth question: Anything else?
Answer: Yes, the president refused assent to the ammendment to the electoral act which would have given legality to the use of electronic voting by veto.


Fifth question: Are you trying to say electronic voting and transmission is illegal?
Answer: Yes, since it has been refused as an amendment, if INEC had used electronic voting or transmission, any losing party can use it as a very strong and valid claim for cancellation of election results and demand new elections because use of electronic voting or transmission would have invalidated the 2019 election ls as it isn't covered as approved procedure and would contravene current electoral act.


Sixth question: So, truly no result server?
Answer: Yes, no result server at INEC


Final question: When can we have such a server or system?
Answer: Whenever INEC has constitutional backing and also enabling environment together with mitigating measures on perceived challenges, it'll have to assemble its Hw, install SW, buy licenses, run installations, outsource services, train staff, employ other technical staff, run a mock election, then test on a re-election/by-election, identify weaknesses, re-strategize then implement for general elections.
Even that will birth outcries of disenfranchisement, technical difficulties and other issues.


On a final note, when you look at the answer to the final question, you'll realize that it's a complicated, time-consuming process (years maybe) which has to be taken in carefully strategized steps. Now, we know that Buhari decline assent to the amendments to the electoral act (chief of which was electronic transmission, which would require a server) in December 2018.


Imagine if he had assented to it, now can you tell me that INEC would have had the digital systems up and running in just about two months (February 2019) and successfully ran the elections without failure
