Congratulations sir, please what's the realistic age for a child who is interested to start learning the coding stuff. I saw where you said he can code very well. How does one even go about it.

General advice for parents who want to help their children achieve.

Each child is different and should be treated so. When he was about 10 years old, he came to me one day and asked some security-related questions about systems. I explained it to him and told him he has to learn coding to understand it better. I showed him how to generate all possible 4-digit PINs in Python in just seconds. It triggered his interest, and he started learning. He is so devoted to his studies.

Thanks for your observation. He attended a normal secondary school. He is very serious with life and can make any sacrifice to achieve his goal. He used the textbooks to study the concepts but relied more on YouTube videos for a better understanding of those topics. I got some study materials from some schools in the US for him also.

My boy scored 304 and initially wanted to pursue software engineering. However, after I shared a wealth of information with him, he decided to go for Computer Science instead. I work in an IT company, and interestingly, most of our software engineers have backgrounds in Computer Science, with a few in Mathematics. I'm truly glad he made this choice. I am happy you fulfilled your promise to your boy.

I do not intend to discourage you sire, but if he were my child, I'd advise him and help him see reasons to pursue something Nigerian universities can actually handle. This is not to suggest that Software Development is a poor choice, far from it. I am where I am today because of it. However, I must emphasize that, based on my experience, most Nigerian universities lack the resources and expertise required to teach the discipline properly.

His option one is to get a scholarship, but if that fails, I will guide him using study materials and curriculum from either the US or Canada. This is my work, and I have helped a lot of students. Even Nigerian students studying abroad I have assisted; I think I should do better with my son

Software Engineering is Software Engineering and it is offered by Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO)

You the father was the one unfair to him, you knew the rules even before he was born so why go ahead to register when you knew the restrictions decades before registering? If its for him to do a real world exam scenario that's fine but if its for you to circumvent the rules somehow then its wrong.

Law is law , it is what it is and not what it should be. When the rules changes then we change with it but for now everyone should follow the rules.

I don't agree; he has two elder ones already in school, and none was up to 16 years old before being admitted. The problem started when the former minister of education made a public comment about admission age, and people have already registered for JAMB. You don't do such. The rules for the 2025 JAMB were better because they were well spelled out before the exam.

Above all, how do you formulate policies? You don't use personal comments to formulate policies.

He used the New School Chemistry textbook and a mix of Senior Secondary Physics by PN Okeke and the New System Physics textbook published by Africana First Publisher. Also, past questions played a major role, like the 4-in-1 practice questions published by The Solid Solutions and software like TestDriller, which made him computer-friendly and gave him a seemingly realistic experience.

I can sincerely relate to your pains. My son scored 344 in JAMB last year and was denied admission because he missed the age cutoff by 14 days.
To the glory of God, I encouraged him to sit for JAMB again. He just scored 359.

JAMB has been unfair to a lot of intelligent kids in the name of uncoordinated policies.

Tech is the way to go, any day, any time.

Answer these questions to rate yourself

1. How good are you at what you do?
2. How many business problems can you solve with the skills you have?
3. Learning is very good, solving business problem is better.
4. Most people that learn data analysis learn only the tools without understanding the industry-based KPIs. That is always the problem.

Follow this guideline

Step1 - get a laptop and ensure that the laptop can be upgraded in the future
Step 2 - what are you good at?, or what can you do effortlessly, you can build a technical skill around it. Alternatively, you can build your career around what you studied in school. There is no single career that does not use IT skills. Do a little research.
Step 3 - Do computing fundamentals course. This will help you understand how things work in the computing world. You will understand basic terms and terminologies also.
Step 4 - Decide on your learning style. Recorded videos, E-Books, 1 on 1, Community, project based etc
Step 5 - Do another fundamental course in the area of your choice that aligns with the career you intend to pursue. For example, if you want to do a Data related course, then do Data fundamentals. This course should teach you basic terms and terminologies used in the data ecosystem.
Step 6 - Decide the platforms to learn from. There are good ones that are very. Khan Academy, freeCodeCamp, etc
Step 7 - Make sure what you are learning can provide a business solution, that is how the money will come
Step 8 - Get a very good mentor to oversee your progress and guide you.

Power storage systems in varieties

I bought the white power bank option from the OP in May 2023. To be fair and honest, the powerbank has served me well.
I noticed a strange behaviour with the powerbank. This has been going on for more than three months now.

1 The Powerbank goes off by itself for no reason.
2 When you on it back it comes back on and may go off again after like 3 to 5 minutes, It will continue like that until it stops coming on, and it is still fully charged.
3 Sometimes when you press and hold the power button, it stays on forcing me to think, it could be the power button
4 Some other time even if you hold the power button, it will still will not retain power.
5 If I am working, and I adjust my table for whatever reason, it goes off. This suggests partial contact or so.

Please anyone with idea on what could be the problem and how I can fix it should kindly recommend.

Now that you have asked, let me give you some guide.
You will need to honestly respond to the following questions

Question 1: Which industry do you hope to practice as a data analyst or scientist? You will need to select either one or two industries.
examples are Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, Health Care, Social Media, and Customer Relations etc.

Question 2 : Do you know the top 15 KPIs that govern that industry? and how to determine them using the tools of your choice.

Question 3: Looking at the Tools: Do you know the types of references used in Excel and their business use cases? How many aggregate functions can you use in Excel and their business use cases? How many data cleaning functions do you know about in Excel and their business use cases?. You need to know how to solve business problems because you will work in a business environment.

The same questions will apply to most of the tools we use in data analytics.

Unfortunately, there are no courses, to the best of my knowledge, that can extract that information and give it to you.

My Personal Recommendations:

1) Choose an industry and get a dataset for that industry. Find out the top 10 or 15 KPIs used in that industry and how they are calculated mathematically. Determine those KPIs using your dataset. You can now proceed to build a dashboard using that dataset and the KPIs.
Repeat the process with a different dataset until you are confident and comfortable.

Example: The most important KPI for sales is total revenue; others are sales by region or state; sales by sales manager or representative.

2 and Jobs that require Physical strength.
