Atiku said the president pleaded with him three times, once during a surprise midnight visit to his house. The former VP made the revelation in an interview with the Hausa service of the BBC, during which he also explained why he has not been very visible in the campaign rallies of his party’s presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari. Mr. Abubakar said he turned down the personal request of President Jonathan to return to the PDP on three separate occasions. He said the last was in Abuja last Friday when the President paid him a surprise midnight visit. He said on that day, he received speaker Aminu Tambuwal and ex-military leader, Ibrahim Babangida, and they held fruitful discussions. “In the evening I went to bed early, but at around 12 am, I was told the president was in my sitting room, so I came down and after exchanging pleasantries, I asked him to what I deserved such a visit and he said he just came back to still plead with me for support,” Atiku said. “He said I need to go back to the PDP because we built the party and we are its founding fathers, and that we needed to go back and rebuild it. “I told him this is the third time you are asking me to return to the PDP and my answer has always been the same; I am not going back,” Atiku said. On speculations that the President also suggested an interim government to the former Vice President, Mr. Abubakar said the matter never came up. “He did not bring it up, and I also did not,” he said. “We just spoke about politics and the security situation in the country.” http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/178863-president-jonathan-begged-me-thrice-to-dump-apc-atiku.html |
TI1919:The points we are making are deeper than what you have asserted above. 1. Establishing 9 new Federal Universities when the existing ones are underfunded is a misnomer. GEJ and PDP got that decision wrong. 2. Sighting a federal university in Otuoke is probably not the most expedient thing to do. Feasibility studies carried out to prove that Otuoke is the best place for the catchment area meant to be served probably won't pick Otuoke. It is so just because it is GEJ's village. 3. Now that they have wrongfully gone ahead to do it, why not make it a standard university. Look around... Only state polytechnics at best would look like that to be honest. Once GEJ is out of power, that university will be a forgotten escapade. |
udemzyudex:We have been waiting for verifiable pics..... |
The truth is coming out gradually. I remember immediately after APC's convention in December 2014, PDP claimed that GMB was a weak candidate that Atiku would have been a a more formidable opponent. Today they are now thinking of a closely fought election. The supposedly weak candidate is no longer a run over. By March 28, PDP/GEJ won't know what hit them. GMB is winning the 2015 polls. According to Mu’azu, "While I do not see a landslide victory coming, I am convinced that our party will perform creditably in the Southwest and the North of Nigeria and elsewhere in all the elections this year because the evidence is clear that despite our travails at the beginning, we have done very well over the past fifteen years of our nascent democracy since 1999 to record victory. "Those who disbelieve our resilience will be surprised for victory is ours." In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Tony Amadi, on Thursday, Mu'azu also promised that President Goodluck Jonathan will declare a Marshall Plan to rebuild the North East geopolitical zone affected by the war if President Jonathan is re-elected. "Our party has this programme on the top of our agenda in the next four years. That will be the right way to wipe away the scars of war among the people of that area", Mu'azu stated. According to the National Chairman, PDP will win Southwest and the North despite "our travails at the beginning". He added that after three weeks of town hall meetings, PDP was inching its way to victory in the 2015 presidential election. http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/muazu-pdp-expects-no-landslide-victory/204532/ |

www.nairaland.com/attachments/2194007_gej_jpeg992928adad11461598fca84307c51f06 A group, the South West Peoples Assembly, has said the visit of President Goodluck Jonathan and the report of dollars exchanging hands at the palaces of traditional rulers are not enough to guarantee votes for the President in the South West The assembly said the President must instead, be sincere with the region, noting that the people of the area had been schemed from strategic positions or appointments under Jonathan’s leadership. The convener of the assembly, Mr. Lai Omotola, stated this in a statement on Wednesday, saying out of the six geo-political zones in the country, the South West “has the most sophisticated voters that cannot be bought or influenced by traditional rulers.” He said, “In the South West, dollars will not impact much, but those who have stood by the Yorubas, who can be trusted, who can put Yoruba on the right pedestal. Integrity has electoral weight in Yoruba land.” Omotola added that unless there were evidence on ground that the region would no longer be relegated in the country, the shifting of campaign machinery into South West to win votes would be “nothing, but an exercise in futility.” He said, “If the president is sincere with the South West people, then what happened to key appointments like Central Bank of Nigeria, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency. Sovereign Wealth Fund, Debt Management Office, Nigerian Ports Authority and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, among others?” He explained that the support the president enjoyed from the South West in 2011, was because an average voter was able to connect with “his story of not having shoes to go to school. We connected with this story and we were inspired to vote for him.” Omotola added, “Historically, the South West has not been a region that relies on government to survive. We have been trained and brought up to depend on our commerce and development of our economy. For politics, we engage those found to be a credible voice for justice and fairness. “It is not expected that we have dissenting voices among us. It has been the case since the time of Chief Obafemi Awolowo.” http://www.punchng.com/news/obas-cant-guarantee-votes-for-jonathan-swpa/ |

Gen. Muhammadu Buhari(retd.), is right on the level of corruption in the country. Speaking to Christine Amanpour on CNN on Wednesday, Sanusi, the former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, believed the level of corruption in the country was massive and needed to be addressed sufficiently. “Yes, General Buhari is right on the level of corruption in the country and we need to address this sufficiently. We have not helped the situation by living in denial (that the situation does not exist). I don’t want to dwell on this because of the time that we are and we are close to an election,” he added. One of the pillars of Buhari’s campaign is to fight corruption, which he argued had not allowed the nation to grow appreciably. The Kano emir insisted that about $20bn was missing from the account of the NNPC, which was not remitted to the federation account. “This has not been addressed adequately and from the account of the corporation, about $20bn was not remitted to the federation account. We need to address this,” Sanusi said. The monarch explained that other leaders must rise up to speak against the activities of the terror group, Boko Haram, saying he was not afraid to die as a result of his opposition to the sect. “I have achieved everything that I could achieve; so, what is there to be afraid of?” he said. Sanusi decried the level of unemployment, especially in the North, insecurity and the endemic corruption in the country. http://www.punchng.com/news/buhari-right-on-level-of-corruption-emir-sanusi/ |

Is Israel being helped by its smaller neighbouring countries to tackle terrorists? Is Israel lacking basic infrastructure for its citizens? Please we need a massive CHANGE in Nigeria. Sai Baba |
NFR has reached over 1 million Nigerian voters living in Nigeria. Our poll covers the 36 States of Nigeria and targets voters via foot-soldiers, who knocked on doors. The social media voting is only a tiny fraction of all voters who respond to our daily survey. See the comments which clearly reveal the ethnic divide in Nigeria. NFR is not part of any Nigerian political party. Barely 12 days to Nigerian election, Buhari has a comfortable lead over Jonathan. You be the judge. http://www.nigerianfm.com/breaking-news-buhari-has-a-double-digit-lead-over-jonathan-over-1-million-nigerian-voters-with-over-5k-comments-see-proof-nfr-poll/

GenIgrigi:This thread is not meant to generate heat or degrade into tribal insults. It is just an Igbo man enlightening his fellow brothers not to be deceived by Azikiwe or Ebele monikers because they're Igbo. If you really want to vote for GEJ let it be because you think he will perform the most for Nigeria. Judging by his first 6 years...that is definitely not the case..otherwise GEJ won't be running helter skelter sharing dollars. |

Bruteforce1o1:We need to boot PDP out. They have failed Ndi Igbo especially and like all other Nigerians. They will fail even more as we move ahead. |
ozoigbondu:You don't get it do you? 12 years is not the issue but the marginalisation of the SW under GEJ will make Yoruba's clamour for presidency after 12 years to right wrongs. You don't want the Igbo's dragging with Yorubas for SW slot. |
