Music/RadioNew Music: Goldie – Don’t Touch (celebration Remix) + [viral Video] by LTVersati(op): 11:11pm On Apr 11, 2011
Peep this new joint from Goldie, It’s a remix to “Don’t Touch”. She also released a viral video as well.

Multiple award winning Nigerian female pop sensation and Kennis music diva Queen G popularly known as Goldie Harvey is no industry newbie. Having been on the scene and honing her skills with OJB, shooting groundbreaking videos with DJ Tee and having her fair share of critics along the way, this hardworking diva has proven over time that she’s no flash in the pan.

After dropping her long awaited album “GOLD” in October 2010 and serenading the entertainment industry with a plethora of wave making songs and videos such as “You know it” and monster hit “Jawo Jawo”, it comes as no surprise that the next single off her album is a solo effort. What a nice effort that is! The original version of the “Don’t Touch” track is Techno and Afro beat inspired, produced by none other than our very own Sarz, whom we recently did a hype on. The vocals are crisp and clear with a very international appeal.

The 2nd version which is the remix, (Celebration Remix) as she calls it, is a sure club banger. Also produced by SARZ, mixed and mastered by Sheyman, with backing vocals by Centage Super star Minjin of “Turning Me on” the track got me nodding my head and dancing to it long after I’d kept it on repeat all day long. Hooky, catchy and groovy, I can bet that this is another monster hit.

Nairaland GeneralNigerian Priest Jailed For Stabbing A Homeless Man In London by LTVersati(op): 11:10pm On Apr 11, 2011
A vicar who poured boiling water over a homeless man before stabbing him after he took shelter outside his church, has been jailed. Reverend Friday Archy, 51, screamed at his victim: ‘I told you to go, if you stay here you will die,’ before plunging the knife into his neck, armpit and chest. The holyman claimed the injuries to Ben Donetus were karma for being a sinning homeless person. The 25-year-old, who suffered severe burns and four stab wounds, spent two days in hospital with a collapsed lung. Rev Archy was jailed for seven years after being found guilty of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent following a trial at Inner London Crown Court.

The green-robed Nigerian, of the Christ-Choosing Church of God in Peckham, southeast London, clashed with the victim after failing to move rough sleepers away. The victim said from his hospital bed on the day of the attack: ‘I have been sleeping rough for the last two years. ‘About two months ago a friend told me of the Penarth Centre and that it was a safe place to sleep. I have now been sleeping at the centre for the last two months. ‘I sleep there every night, on the landing outside the door leading to the Christ Choosing church of God. I believe this is on the first floor of the centre. There are two other rough sleepers who also sleep there every night.

‘I see the reverend at least three nights per week. He used to talk to me and tell me to go away and sleep elsewhere. ‘Recently he has stopped talking to us. Last night I arrived as usual at about 11pm.’ Mr Donetus discovered one of his friends had joined him on the landing because his usual spot was flooded.

Nairaland GeneralI Left Pdp To Save My Marriage – Dora Akunyili by LTVersati(op): 5:46am On Apr 11, 2011
Former Minister of Information and Communications, Prof. Dora Akunyili, on Thursday said her husband, Dr. Chike Akunyili, forced her to quit the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Akunyili, who left the PDP last December to contest the Anambra Central Senatorial seat on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, said her husband could no longer accept the violent nature of the PDP in Anambra State.

She recalled how she called a stakeholders’ meeting of the PDP in Awka in 2010 after the party lost the governorship election, saying developments at the meeting shocked her husband, who gave a choice between her marriage and the PDP.

She said some PDP members organised hoodlums, who released teargas cannisters at the meeting venue and sent everyone scampering to safety.

“There and then, my husband asked me to choose between my marriage to him and attending PDP meetings,” she said. Akunyili said in contrast with the situation in the PDP in Anambra State, APGA was fostering peace and unity, fostered by the Anambra State Governor, Mr. Peter Obi” – Punch

EntertainmentBreaking News: Bomb Blasts Reported At Inec Office, Suleja 20 Killed by LTVersati(op): 9:15pm On Apr 08, 2011
SULEJA, Nigeria — Authorities say an explosion struck an office of Nigeria’s national electoral commission ahead of the oil-rich nation’s first vote in a month of crucial polls.

A spokesman of the Independent National Electoral Commission tells The Associated Press the explosion happened Friday afternoon in Suleja, a city in Niger state near the country’s capital of Abuja. Spokesman Kayode Idowu said he did not know if there were any injuries from the blast.

Idowu says the commission suspects the explosion came from a bomb attack. In March, attackers threw a bomb at a political rally in the city, killing at least four people and wounding 20 others.

THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE. Check back soon for further information. AP’s earlier story is below.

IBADAN, Nigeria (AP) – Gang members hired by politicians beat an election official and steal ballot papers. Bus loads of thugs harass opposition parties. A bomb detonates without an apparent target.
Nigeria’s delayed first national election starts Saturday, but already troubles reminiscent of a fatally flawed 2007 vote can be seen across Africa’s most populous nation. Coupled with a failed bombing in the north and an attack by a radical Islamic sect Friday, these signs undoubtedly prove worrying for international observers concerned about one of the top crude oil suppliers to the U.S., as well as those who will place their inked fingers to the ballots.

“Millions of voters may be disenfranchised by being too scared to go out to cast their votes,” recently wrote Kunle Amuwo, an analyst with the International Crisis Group. “Politicians who orchestrate violence must be held accountable and prosecuted. Unless violence is swiftly curtailed and contained, there will be no basis for credible elections.”

Nigeria, home to 150 million people, will vote Saturday on who should represent its citizens in its National Assembly. The positions remain highly lucrative, with more than $1 million in salaries and benefits, plus the ability to direct a swollen budget in a nation where billions in oil revenues routinely go missing.

The election was to be held last Saturday, but national election chairman Attahiru Jega stopped it after ballot papers and tally sheets went missing in many of the country’s roughly 120,000 polling stations. Jega twice postponed the election and about 15 percent of the races won’t be held Saturday as misprinted ballots delayed them.

Peter Osaze Odemwingie Attacks Siasia on Twitter, Says He Got Issues

Nigeria striker Osaze Odemwingie has taken to his Twitter page to accuse coach Samson Siasia of having “issues”.

Odemwingie is believed to be upset that his attitude was questioned after he opted not to play in the Super Eagles’ friendly against Kenya on Tuesday.

After playing in Sunday’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Ethiopia, he flew back to England on Monday.

Odemwingie implied in his Twitter rant that that he opted out of the Kenya friendly because of injury.

He wrote: “Unlike me my finishing in training today was good. Hearing something that Siasia is angry I left. He needs to think a bit or he got issues.”

He later deleted the comment but not before dozens of his followers had voiced their disapproval, with one urging him to “calm down”.

In another post, he said: “Managed to play the official. A friendly in a empty stadium, struggling with an injury preferred not to play. And it became an issuehuh

According to the BBC’s Oluwashina Okeleji in Lagos, there is more to Odemwingie’s comments than meets the eye.

He said Siasia’s approach has upset many senior players.

“His training methods, his unguarded outbursts, attitude and treatment of older players is causing disaffection in his new Super Eagles – more like a time bomb,” Okeleji said.

Music/RadioD.o.s – Folashade by LTVersati(op): 10:15am On Mar 31, 2011
D.O.S is a pop group founded by the late Meny Ema and Deremi Adewunmi during their high school years in king’s college Lagos. The group originally consisted of 7 members but later reduced to 3 members. D.O.S released their 1st single “can’t stop” in the summer of 2008. The song helped build substantial followership for the group, particularly in the University of Lagos where they were undergraduates at the time, and allowed the group to grace the same stages as artists such as 9ice, Banky-w, Roof top mcs, and a host of others. However due to in-house differences, the group again reduced to 2 members leaving Deron (Deremi) and Deey (Dayo) as the only remaining members of the group.

After spending sometime behind the scenes rebranding and harnessing their talents, the two brothers by birth, Deron and Dee-y, redefined their sound, snowballing their separate experiences and uniqueness into the musical phenomenon that is today D.O.S. The recently released “Folashade”, the 1st single from the yet to be named D.O.S album is currently getting a lot of buzz across the various social media websites. 2011 marks the official launch of D.O.S into the mainstream market.
