http://korrectnation.com/?p=7282 We present to you preview pictures from the MI2 album launch that took place on the 28th of April 2011 @ Indigo O2 arena, London. We already brought you videos(unofficial) of the event and now here are some exclusive photos courtesy Mavrik Films. Chocolate City allowed only 5 photos to be released, so watch out for more photos as well as an official highlight video of the event also directed by Mavrik Films on Chocolate city’s website (www.chocolatecitygroup.com). If you must know Mavrik Films was responsible for directing The Chocolate Diaries – webisode 2 & 3 and a host of other music videos. This is what the talented director/photographer had to say… “For this job, I set the shutter speed to 1/100 and the aperture to f8.0. This means I’d be able to catch movement very well and majority of what will be in the shot will be in focus. But the setting changed with the different photographs I took. For example, for close ups (as you’ll see on the website), I put the aperture at f2.0 for a shallow depth of field. I retouched the photographs a little bit in Photoshop. I used the curves tool on the pictures just to push the blacks and give it a more edgy feel and look to them.“ Big ups to Mavrik Films. “Fela Is Not On Broadway” After a very long silence, Asiko has decided to react to the sudden and extensive commercialization of the image of my hero- Fela by writing a song to express my feelings. In the song, Asiko takes aim, particularly, at the capitalistic exploitation of Fela’s image on Broadway where the show Fela has distorted and simplified the hard work and ideology of Abami Eda. Foly explains that the Fela being presented on Broadway is not the Fela he knew and grew up with. The Fela on Broadway is not the image or representation of the fearless leader he so much admired, and learned a lot from. This song takes listeners from the daily comfort of illusion back to the real world of Afrobeat, where truth is the code of existence and honesty is the modus operandi. Listen to “RELEASE YORSEF and you will re-discover the reason why you love FELA… Watch video here ---> http://korrectnation.com/?p=6792 |
