Nig4Greatness: ....
In as much as I love your enthusiasm and your optimism about your dreams and aspirations, you should know that those expectations are not just easy to come by in reality. There are stiff competitions everywhere for funding and some of the conditions attached to such would probably turn You to slave working for them indirectly. Beside, how many venture capitalists as you called them are ready to throw their money on some untested ideas and do you expect Canada to throw open their borders just because you have an idea ??..if you think in that direction, then rude shock awaits you. Even when we talk about how easy it is to get loans from banks in the US doesn't means they just throw open their vault for you just because you have a business idea that has not been put to use. They are many tech startups in Nigeria that started with nothing but they are doing fine now and progressing with some attracting foreign investors.Typical example of such tech startup is PAYSTACK.google them.they are less than 2yrs old. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.forbes.com/sites/mfonobongnsehe/2016/12/19/nigerian-fintech-startup-paystack-raises-1-3-million/amp/&ved=2ahUKEwjf_63s6ZLdAhWa3oMKHZYXAhUQFjAJegQIBhAB&usg=AOvVaw393G6kPQwsjXLc94ur6sYE&cf=1 I think he needs to Watch Shark Tank on CNBC and watch how Venture Capitalists like Mike Cuban , Daymond John, Barbara Corcoran, Lori Greiner, Robert Herjevic & Kevin O' Leary squeeze entrepreneurs on the viability of their ideas, then he will realize that isn't that easy to get funding from Venture Capitalists. |

Chapecoense: I see your point, I still think as long as you dont have any criminal records and your DMV record is good, They wont deny you a Job because you haven't been in the US for 10years lol. A green card holder has the right to work anywhere except those jobs that requires top security clearance, NASA, Officer jobs etc.. A Green card holder who wants to be a pilot will still be subjected to the regular Criminal and driving background check, have the class 1 medical and hold the required certificates and minimum number of flight hours... Can you specifically tell me anyone (non citizen with a gren card) that has been denied a Job in the aviation industry because he/she hasnt been in the US for 10 years? I never said 10 years. I said 5 years -10 years. For a green card holder that just arrived the United States for about a Month ago and wants to become a Pilot can you please tell me how he is going to pass an FBI Background check since he just arrived the United States. This is just similar to applying for a Credit Card without a Credit History. The usual response from the Credit Bureau is denial due to insufficient credit history. Maybe if you can specifically tell me anyone (non citizen with a green card) who is a pilot for the major airlines ( American Airlines, Delta Airlines & United Airlines) then your argument can be considered valid. |

radautoworks: And Canada doesn't have as many people trying to come in either.... Yet. Get a venture capitalist to fund you 500k without declaring it as a loan. Venture Capitalist that will want 55% or more equity is that one a Venture Capitalist. Some even want Perpetual Royalty for life. God forbid if the business becomes successful then they can easily kick you out of a company you created through hard work. You're better off requesting for a Business Line of Credit OR a Business Loan from the Big Banks. |

radautoworks: Incorrect. The watchlist is notoriously flawed. Even cartoon characters are on it SMH. I don't understand what you mean by even cartoon characters are on it. The TSA Watchlist is a closely monitored list. This is actually a matter of National Security Interest. You don't joke with it. |

Chapecoense: Wow, I am just now seeing this here.. But dont you think the 5-10yr background check will be waved since they havent been in the US that long? As long as they have the right to work legally, they should be fine? And the background check will likely span the entire history of the immigrant in the US. Even if its less than 2yrs. Another example will be trying to allow Permanent Residents to become Secret Service Agents who also are charged with the responsibility of protecting the life of United States President... It would also be disastrous if one of them end up killing the United States President. Laws are put in place for a reason and so far those Laws for worked very well and continue to protect the interest of the United States. Those Laws should be upheld. There are other well paying jobs that new immigrants can do until they're able to meet the minimum requirements for the jobs they are applying. |

Let's just assume that the 5 year - 10 year Background Check requirement is waived and one of the new hires end up crashing an air plane into a tall rise building killing thousands of people again who do you think would be held responsible? I don't think the Background Check should be waived since it has worked great since 9/11. The last thing we need is someone from oversea trying to cause harm to the American People. Remember it only takes just one person... |

EgunMogaji: I'll try to find the link.
One I remember was because his name matched to some list. The other I'm not sure but they have both sued the federal government.
The constitution guarantees us free travel without unnecessary delays or interference. His name probably matched the TSA Watchlist. The TSA Watchlist contains names of individuals who are known and suspected of being involved in Terrorist Activities. They are barred from flying within and into the United States and are usually not allowed to board an aircraft. |

Chapecoense: Permanent resident. The requirement for a non US citizen to be pilot in the US requires a Green card and the minimum hours of flight time, But i hardly see any Nigerian flying airplanes in the US. Most only come for training and go back to Nigeria to take up Jobs.. Do you happen to know of any Nigerian pilot in the US? You have to pass a Comprehensive 5 year - 10 year Background Check conducted by the TSA in conjunction with the FBI inorder to work in the airport. Also any Criminal offense other than a Misdemeanor automatically disqualifies you from obtaining the Job. So most Nigerians who have resided in the United States for less than 5 years might not be able to pass the Comprehensive Background Check. I recently applied to work as a TSA Agent in Miami International Airport & as a Passenger Service Agent at Fort Lauderdale International Airport. As of now I'm still waiting for my Background Check results to come out. Both jobs pay very well. TSA Agents make around $16.67/hr While Passenger Service Agents make around $13.98/hr |

EgunMogaji: The green card requirement is not only for pilots but for any employment. I think it will be rare for any major airline to hire green card holders. Commercial Pilots have hundreds of thousands invested in them for training.
I don’t know of any personally but an Igbo lady flew me on Southwest years back.
This was before 9/11 when you could still look pilots in the eyes. Now they’ll just say “we’re denying you flight due to an abundance of caution for the flight, crew and passengers” I usually fly American Airlines, Delta Airlines & United Airlines since I signed up for their frequent flyer program and usually earn miles on every flight I take. I'm yet to see a Black Pilot. I haven't seen a female Pilot either All my flights so far have been with White Pilots who are male. And Majority of them are usually of age with White hair. I can also assume most of them are United States Citizens. |

After 9/11 the rules were tightened. You have to pass a minimum of 5 year - 10 year Background Check conducted by the TSA in conjunction with the FBI. Unfortunately most newly arrived immigrants who are Green Card holders will not be able to pass the Background Check. |

EgunMogaji: You’re right but they’ll still argue.
Two prominent citizens, natural born not naturalized, were detained at an airport for hours. Do you know exactly why those two prominent citizens were detained at the airport for hours? I'm also a natural born citizen not naturalized. I'm planning a trip back home hopefully by next year. I already have my United States Passport from the Department of State. Currently waiting for my Certificate of Citizenship from USCIS. |

radautoworks: Also, first chance you get when you are legal, apply for global entry and have to never deal with immigration lines and extended TSA screening again . Be prepared to have your whole life put under a microscope for approval first though. I do have global entry membership but the membership requirements is very strict. It involves a Comprehensive FBI Background Check including a 10 year look back period which involves a Background Check on every employer you have worked for plus every where you have lived for the said period. I only had a Misdemeanor Disorderly Conduct Charge which was dismissed by the District Attorney and I explained that to the TSA Supervisor during my interview. It took about a week for my Background Check from the FBI to come out Clean and I was subsequently approved and my Global Entry Membership Card was mailed to my home address. I believe it cost about $100 for the Five year period that is valid. I also have CLEAR. Global Entry + TSA Precheck + CLEAR= No wait in line during air travel. |

Gabbybanks: Hello Guys, I will just want to know the real possibility of surviving in America as a student with out a sponsor from home. Like let's say, I get admitted to to do a masters in America and I get my visa approved but I do not have someone to sponsor me... Is it really possible like some claim, that you can easily work and study at the same time in America... And pay for your tuition and living expenses from your job?... How really possibly is living and surviving in America as a student without a sponsor from home I'm not gonna lie to you. It's going to be very tough. I did before during the Obama Administration. It was easier because I was able to get an Employment Authorization Card (EAD) which enabled me to work off campus until I graduated. It was also easier because I was classified as an instate student instead of out of state student. So instead of paying $5000+ for tuition every semester, I ended up only paying $1000+ every semester which really helped. But I think it would be foolish to try it again during this trump Administration especially since we're in a period of uncertainty. |

FutureDon: Thanks boss. I don't need anything in particular. I'm visiting those cities and thought it would be nice to have someone who knows the area well. Ok. That makes sense. Miami is usually easy to get around. You can use either uber, lyft, taxi or public transit ( Tri rail, Metro rail & Buses) New York City is quite complicated because you have to naviagate the Sub way System. I got lost a couple of times during my first week in New York City using the Sub way System. I don't why but most people in New York City tend to mind their own business and are usually in a hurry to get to their intended destination. The folks in Miami are actually more friendly and willing to help. |

EgunMogaji: Very nice.
I use to chase credit limits in the past but I now chase interest rates and miles. Move balances between cards.
My Wife opened a Delta American Express and was given 100,000 miles and 18 months 0% interest rate. 100,000 Miles!!! Very nice. That's sufficient for a round trip ticket to Europe. You only have to worry about Tax & fees. You guys probably need to take a vacation inorder to utilize the Mileage Points. |
