BascoVanVeli: The difference between these pictures is that one of them is in Africa. Liverpool fans are so close that this fan actually held back Balotelli to prevent him from getting a yellow. You can even see space between the grass and where the fans in Gambia are sited but that can't be seen at Anfield, that means the fans in England are even closer than those fans were. Sir, Please are you comparing the two? |

BascoVanVeli: It is still just one stadium we are talking about. Seychelles is a small country and the only artificial pitch in Nigeria that I can beat my chest and say is better just got installed in Aba. If you play in Agege or Kano the ball can never stay on the ground, we watched the Aiteo cup final and the CHAN qualifier against Benin they were border line unwatchable. Pitch is one thing. Stadium is another. We lack both in Africa. How do you think an avid EPL fan will rate African football when he sees that picture of Gambian fans almost close to the pitch? Isn't that an eyesore to you? Even my village league has moved past the stage of near-invasion of pitch. |

BascoVanVeli: What does relegation have to do with anything? We always make excuses for Europeans and bring down ourselves. Tell that to someone who didn't watch both matches. Did u see a single player fall trying to take a shot with a patch of grass always coming out at every challenge? The pitch Barcelona played on was worst than anything we have seen this weekend. I'm not trying to make excuses for anyone. I'm just stating the fact. A club represents a unit. A national team represents a conglomeration of different units (In this case, the nation's general image is at stake). If a football federation and their Government cannot provide a standard stadium for their competitive match then it's a big shame. Your analogy would have made more sense if you said Spanish national team played on a bad pitch. Only then will I accept that it's a general problem but telling me that Rayo Vallecano (a clubside) hosted Barcelona (another clubside) on a bad pitch is somewhat way out of line because both do not represent the general image of Spain but Seychelles national team does represent the National interest of Seychelles. So my friend, I do hope you understand this one. |

All that is part of gamesmanship. Why would you expect them to take Europe based players to a type of pitch they are used to? That team just came from relegation and as bad as their pitch is, it's not to be compared with those farmlands I'm talking about. |

The pitch is very nice if you ask me. The fear has always been security and rarely, capacity. Secondly, I can't confirm the venue of that match but our able Bosses who are in the know can fill you in. Cc Tbaba1234 |

charlesemeka85: Madagascar pitch be like potato farm hahahahahaha Is African football developing or deteriorating? I can't believe some of the stadia I see on TV are actually used to host national team matches. Stadia that can't even host a league match in saner climes under such conditions. What is actually wrong? Is it that these people don't understand the reach of these matches or that they deliberately don't want to develop their stadia to be up to standard? I watched our match yesterday and I was wondering why Seychelles as a country couldn't provide one befitting stadium to host that match. If I'm to suggest, I'll say that some of these countries with berated pitches shouldn't be involved in the qualifiers or better they play in a neutral venue. CAF isn't helping at all. They should look into this issue cos with every passing day, Our football is going down and no one takes us seriously again. This is why most good foreign based players feign injury when it gets to playing all these teams with farmlands as pitches. You don't expect Sallah to play on that kind of pitch Seychelles served us yesterday. God help us pls. |

ChrisKels: Una still dey for this yeye debate about KC Nwakali? Lol him no merit the invite but that doesn't mean he aint talented. Dude is hugely talented but hasn't proven himself yet, professionally to merit an invite, that said, I av bn impressed by his performance so far for Porto B, hence I am tipping him to make the step up to their main team, soon. I doubt if this is ever going to happen going by the setup of the present Porto team. Kelechi Nwakali's move to Porto was a wrong move only time will reveal. As much as I wish him well, playing for a B side of a team like Porto isn't such a good deal for a player with such huge talents. I will say this is one ill-advised move. This is just my opinion tho |

Politics › If Presidential Election Was To Hold Today, Who Will You Vote For? by Luckyroro(op): 11:55pm On Aug 28, 2018 |
It is no news that Nigerians will be going to the polls come 2019. With a number of politicians declaring their interest in occupying the seat of power, one begins to wonder who amongst them is credible enough to lead the country to greatness. President Muhammadu Buhari has played a key role in redefining leadership in Nigeria with his unquestionable integrity but many still believe there's still more work to do especially in the area of economic development. He is a strong contender should he maintain his stance to contest next year. Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is widely believed to be the one that has the potential to turn the fortunes of the country around as he is experienced in job creation and being a key participant of the Obasanjo regime, he might just be another good option to consider. Kwankwaso is another leader with massive support. Being the former Governor of Kano state and haven registered his interest in the Presidential race in APC primaries in 2015, he is not a newcomer in the race. If he wins the party ticket, he will surely give his opponents a good run for their money as he is from one of the key areas that decide the outcome of elections with their vast population. Donald Duke is another good contestant. The former Cross River State Governor is a technocrat and many believe he represents the new generation of leaders Nigerians want. He has a good record in the area of governance and he is one to watch out for. Ahmed Makarfi is also a contender. Haven stirred PDP out of the storm, he may be another man to watch out for as he deserves some respect for his role in reconciliation of aggrieved members of the party.
Now, over to you Nairalanders. If the elections were to hold today, Who will you vote for? Your candidate may not be on the list but feel free to mention his name. N/B: I am not a member of any political party before you call me names. |

semid4lyfe: I'll select the 23-man squad from this pool of players.
GOALKEEPERS Francis Uzoho David Nwokolor Akpan Udoh Dele Alampasu Maduka Okoye
Doesn't make sense to have a 19yr old No 1 goalie and have backups in their late 20's and early 30's.
DEFENDERS William Tróost-Ekóng Leon Balogun Chidozie Awaziem Kenneth Omeruo Olamilekan Adeleye Tyrone Ebuehi Musa Mohammed Ebube Duru Ikouwem Udoh *Dominic Iorfa Jr *Moses Odubajo Deji Ousman Beyreuther
Notable absentees are Bryan Idowu and Ola Aina.
In my opinion, Ola Aina is not good enough. Bryan Idowu gets dropped cos of my preference for naturally left footed players as left back which is covered by Ebube Duru, Ikouwem Udoh and Deji Ousman Beyreuther.
MIDFIELDERS John Mikel Obi Wilfred Ndidi Oghenekaro Etebo Alex Iwobi Kelechi Nwakali John Ogu Uche Agbo Okechukwu Azubuike Anderson Esiti Tosin Kehinde
Dropped are Joel Obi and Oganyi Onazi
ATTACKERS Paul Onuachu Ahmed Musa Moses Simon Samuel Kalu Taiwo Awoniyi Henry Onyekuru Sadiq Umar Cyriel Dessers Junior Lokosa Victor Moses Noah Sanreren Bazee Isaac Success Victor Osimhen Kayode Olanrewaju
Dropped are Ighalo, Iheanacho and Simmy Nwankwo. Not good enough for me. Pls is there a way I can show appreciation to you for this post? Pls don't underrate your brain, it's just too functional. Everything you said here is the damn truth. List is so spot on |

kennysville: My strongest squad for the next match..
Goal- uzoho Defence- Ekong, Balogun, Omeruo (Cant believe I am rooting for Omeruo) Midfield- Ebuehi, Iwobi(playing the creative role), Mikel, Ndidi, Idowu ( I would have placed moses in place of Idowu, but Moses stiffles the attack) Attack-Iheanacho, Simi/ Ighalo
If we are in search of goals and and the above formation aint yielding result, then we can be talking ofintroducing victor Moses in place of Idowu to drive the wing more. And we can still accomodate the 4-3-3 that Rohr so much wants to force down our throats.
Somebody can please help me with the othe subs...... Nice setup. Hope we win with it. In other news, Senegal are trying |
