John Sessions, the Scottish actor and comedian famous for shows including Whose Line Is It Anyway?, has died at the age of 67.

Alex Irwin, his agent at Markham, Froggatt & Irwin, said Sessions died at his home in London from a heart condition after a career that spanned film roles including The Iron Lady and The Merchant of Venice.

Born in Ayrshire, Scotland, Sessions made his name on shows including the UK version of Whose Line Is It Anyway? and the original Spitting Image, on which he honed his impression skills.

He was a regular on the British comedy panel show circuit, popping up on Have I Got News for You and QI, as well as starring in comedies such as the cult hit Stella Street, in which he impersonated Keith Richards and Joe Pesci.

The BBC show QI was among those that paid tribute. “John Sessions was a panellist on QI’s first ever episode: Series A, Episode One, ‘Adam’. His incredible wit and encyclopaedic knowledge played a huge part in the show’s history and everyone at QI is deeply saddened to learn of his passing.”

Gov. Seyi Mkinde on Monday visited the Eleyele Police Command Headquarters, Ibadan, to meet with members of the Oyo State Command of the Nigeria Police Force.

He stated that the police are a very important part of our community and acknowledged that not every member of the police force is bad.
However, He said it is the professional conduct of the good ones that will win back the trust of the people.

He encouraged them to look beyond the actions of thugs and hoodlums who hijacked the legitimate protests and unleashed mayhem on some members of the police force. Bearing in mind that the protesters even included them in their 5 for 5 requests by asking for better conditions of service for them.
He also stated they will work together to build a better society. That he support the protests does not mean he is against them.
He said he is there for protection of everyone’s right, including the rights of policemen. And that they need their cooperation to ensure that arsonists and anarchists are brought to book.
Finally, I told them that the families of policemen in Oyo State who were unlawfully killed will be part of those compensated from the initial N500M Fund which we set up last week. May their souls rest in peace.

Gov. Uzodimma is a prosperity sharer, says Hon. Noble A. Atulegwu

Deltapointer reports that it was a merry galore in Imo State as Governor Hope Uzodimma graduated 305 Imo women drawn from across Imo State, whom the state trained on Spices Production through the Imo State Ministry of Entrepreneurship & Skills Acquisition. A Ministry created to better the lives of Imo people in skill acquisition and entrepreneurship.

It was a sight to behold at the Imo State Secretariat complex, off Port Harcourt Road, Owerri, Imo State, where the Commissioner piloting the affairs of the new but wave-making Ministry, Hon. Noble A. Atulegwu, whom after carrying out this life changing training, organised a remarkable grand-finale.

It was also a true fulfillment of words by the Governor when the trained 305 Imo women were given startup capital today, to venture into production of food spices aimed at making them productive and self-reliant which will propel addition in the food chain of Imo State and equally trigger a boost in the State's economy.

During the training, the trainers from National Directorate of Employment (NDE) took time to guide the participants to become knowledgeable of various local and foreign food spices and how to produce, preserve and package them for marketing.

According to Hon. Noble A. Atulegwu, with this, Gov. Hope Uzodimma has once again shown to Imo people that he is committed to uplifting their lives and improving the standard of living of Imolites.

In his words; "the impacts which Gov. Uzodimma is making in the lives of Imo people have surely convinced the good people of Imo State that the creation of Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Skills Acquisition was a display of visionary leadership by the Governor."

Also, the beneficiaries of the training didn't fail to thank their Governor, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma and his wife, Her Excellency Barr. Chioma Uzodimma for their kindness and love towards them through the programme.

The Hon. Commissioner for Women Affairs & Vulnerable Groups, Mrs Nkechinyere Ugwu whose presence in the grand-finale added more glamour to the epoch event assured Imo women that the Governor's wife is committed to protecting their interest and welfare.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike of Rivers State has frown at the flagrant disobedience of COVID-19 protocol by some churches in the State.

The Governor warned that if this continues, the State government will have no option than to review the restriction on the number of people allowed to worship in churches.

He stated this at the Saint Thomas Anglican Church in Mile 2 Diobu, in Port Harcourt Local Government Area, during Chief Azubuike Nmerukini’s family special thanksgiving service organised in honour of his wife, Dame Oroma Nmerukini who survived critical medical condition.

Governor Wike said he observed during the service that more than 80 per cent of worshippers did not wear facemasks during the service

He warned that if it continues, the State Government will be compelled to revisit its position on the number of worshippers allowed per session of such church services.

"85 per cent of those who are here are not wearing facemask. That is the problems we have. Nobody wants to obey simple instruction.

"The mere fact that we have agreed that we should worship and allowed everybody, does not mean that we should disobey the protocol.

"My lord Bishop, encourage our people to wear their face mask. It is very important. If this continues then I will go back and review the restriction to say it cannot be more than a particular number", he said.

The governor also expressed thanks to God for the healing of Dame Oroma Nmerukini who he described as a sister and mother.

In his sermon, the Bishop of Diocese of Niger Delta, Right Reverend Wisdom Ihunwo admonished the congregation to discard the habit of bemoaning what they lack.

He, rather, urged them to believe fervently in God, pray to him and learn to live a life of thanksgiving.

Biohop Ihunwo asserted that when God touches any situation, it will change for good like the case of Dame Nmerukini who had received touch of healing from God.

Thanking God for the restoration of her health, Dame Nmerukini said the experience was bitter but she is grateful to God who has healed her.

Dame Nmerukini also expressed thanks to friends and family members who offered prayers and other levels of support.

Chief Azubuike Nmerukini who is also the State Chairman of Local Government Service Commission thanked God for the healing of his wife. He also commended Governor Wike for both financial and moral support rendered to him and his family while his wife was ill.

He noted that God empowered some persons to offer assistance that made the burden on them easy to bear.

The governor was accompanied by his wife, Justice Suzzeette Nyesom-Wike, State chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ambassador Desmond Akawor, Chief of staff, Government House, Engineer Chukwuemeka Woke, and Head of Rivers State Civil Service, Rufus Godwins.

Others were the Chairman of Rivers State Waste management Agency (RIWAMA) Felix Obuah, Former Deputy Speaker of House of Representatives, Austin Opara, Former Majority Leader of Rivers State House of Assembly, Dr Chidi Lloyd and Former Attorney General of Rivers State, Frank Owhor.

In a bid to restore peace and normalcy in Delta State as a result of the unrest caused by the #Endsars protests across the country.

Delta State governor, Dr. Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa is organizing a town hall meetings with the youths across the three senatorial districts in Delta State. Delta North, Delta South and Delta Central Senatorial district.


Deltapointer gathered, that the engagement, was aimed at learning more about the concerns of the state’s young people, including the #EndSARS protesters, civil society groups, students and communities.

In the governors speech, he touched on the issues around job creation, security and youth participation in governance.

He emphasized that his administration has initiated several skills acquisitions and entrepreneurship programs to empower this critical demographic.

He promised the youths that moving forward, in order to learn more about the unique challenges faced by individual communities, he will be asking political office holders at all levels to put mechanisms in place to communicate regularly with the youth.


He also spoke on electoral reform and the creation of additional wards to ensure that each LGA has a maximum of 20 wards.

Deltapoint correspondent, reports that the town hall meeting had representatives of the #ENDSARS movement, civil society groups, students and community leaders as part of the ongoing initiatives to strengthen the processes of governance by engaging periodically with the youth.

The governor also expressed optimism that the Electoral Bill will be signed by President Muhammadu Buhari before the 2023 elections.

He also encouraged the young people of the state to begin to organize themselves ahead of the next general elections, so that they can present more visionary and vibrant young candidates to represent them at the local, state and federal levels.

He emphasized that the more young people serving in public office, they can build more sustainable institutions across board, while also working towards building a stronger Nigeria that reflects the needs and concerns of this critical demographic, the governor said.

The governor of Imo State, Sen. Hope Uzodinma has mandated the Attorney general of Imo state Chief Sir C.O.C Akaolisa to press on banks that guaranteed mobilization fee to the contractor handling the Nekede/Ihiagwa road, which he described as eyesore with the rains to refund the mobilization fee immediately.
He assured that immediately after the rains he will re-award the contract for the construction of the road to a firm he deems competent.

Deltapointer reports that the contract for the Nekede/Ihiagwa road is not an initiative of the Hope Uzodinma administration.

The governor stated that its very unfortunate that the contractor has failed the people after collecting mobilization fee of N1.4 Billion Naira, hence he has directed the mobilization fee be refunded to enable him re-award the contract to a company he deems more competent and responsible.

Briefing news men, the governor also said the state government is working hard to realize the passage of 2021 Annual budget before the end of the year so as to benefit from the gains that accrues to states that meets the deadline for timely passage of budget from Federal government and international donors.

Deltapointer Reports that the Imo government has also on Wednesday banned mining and dredging by any individual, or group of Companies in Imo state without first submitting an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) certificate to the Ministry of Environment for approval.

The Imo state government also banned of all manners of levies in primary and secondary schools in the state.
The EXCO warned that any (Principal or Head Master) discovered to indulge in collection of illegal fees will be summarily dealt with.

The government also approved the set up of a special committee headed by the commissioner for Special Duties, Barr. Francis Dibiagu , to collect every relevant data on private secondary and primary schools in Imo state for purpose of having a reliable information which government can plan on, Deltapointer reports.

In what many Biafrans described as a shock to them, Governor Wike has signed an executive order proscribing the activities of the Indigenous people of Biafran in the entire Rivers state. In a press statement obtained by Deltapointer, he described the IPOB as anarchic group and whatever it stands for in the entire Rivers state.

Deltapointer reports that he also called the group a terrorist* group that has long been legally denounced by the federal government.

He also charged the chairmen of all the local governments in the state to fish out anyone partaking in the activities of IPOB in Rivers state.

However in the broadcast, he lifted the curfew earlier placed in some parts of Port Harcourt ; Mile 1, Iloabuchi, Emenike, and Ikokwu as well as Rumukurushi in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, but did not lift that of Oyigbo Local government till further notice.

He also said the entire Ikokwu motor spare parts market shall remain closed until he decides otherwise.

In another development he mandated the civil service commission in Rivers State to employ 5000 youths into the civil service as teachers and other careers in the state.

In a post that seems he is raging in anger in his official Facebook page he said he is setting up a task force team to ban illegal street trading on motor parks and public roads but meanwhile he has banned tricycle (Keke) in all major roads in Port Harcourt and Obio/Akpor Local government area.

Addressing journalist in Delta state Asaba State capital this Morning the governor said after receiving a comprehensive briefing on the security situation across Delta State from the three Service Commanders and having analyzed the situation critically, he wish to thank all Deltans, particularly the youths, for complying with the curfew that was imposed two days ago.
