Health / Re: Kitchen Gas Explosion Burnt Mother And Her 2-Week-Old Baby (Disturbing Photos) by Lumie08(f): 10:57pm On Feb 18, 2018
Applying kerosene might have helped to prevent this.

Sometimes the use of little quantity of kerosene immediately after hot water or fire burns can go a long way to prevent spending so much on treatment. It requires not touching or rubbing the burns site at all, then SPRINKLING kerosene on the burns site. DO NOT TOUCH. It would be extremely hot and painful at first but fast blowing fan will help to cool and minimize the pain. In 15-20mins, the pain is gone and you are scar free

Kerosene actually helps to prevent the process of inflammation that causes swelling, peeling of skin and scarring

Health / Re: Steps To Become A Registered Nurse In Nigeria by Lumie08(f): 10:56pm On Feb 02, 2018
asuustrike2009:

I know why I asked this question. Am talking of the reality not mere words

Very Very well and sometimes better than their female counterparts. I'v seen male nurses whose first attempt at taking delivery is more perfect and neater than female nurses, now imagine their subsequent ones. That aside, I know some male nurses who are so good with taking deliveries that they no longer want to take normal ones but seek to take complicated deliveries. Some do all these well with just their BNSc training, you just might not really find many of them specializing in midwifery

like someone said earlier, its a matter of having the zeal and loving what one does. With these, you can be better than others.

Family / Re: The Problems Of Family Planning In Nigeria by Lumie08(f): 9:06am On Jul 18, 2017
carammel:
I may derail a bit on this which may be contrary to all the OP wrote.
In my own opinion, poverty is the problem with family planning in Nigeria. I was at a counselling center last week to and after all talk and bla,i was told to pay 2600naira for implano,1000naira for pregnancy test and 1600 for the drug,i may be able to afford it but can another woman who can hardly feed 2square meal afford that?
The UN claimed, family planning would check poverty, that is when there are less children, there would be more to go round everyone. I think they should make it free or highly subsidized so everyone mostly the targets "the poor",can afford it and be ready to go for it.

I believe u probably went to a private clinic. Primary health centers providing the services collect far less than that. about #200-#500 depending on the method u are requesting for. The reason for payment is to make clients value it more. What u pay for, worths more than what was given to u for free.

good evening mamas. I was just reading through and I saw some advices on using warm or hot compress for breast engorgement. Well I like to say that that the warm/hot compress might help milk flow but will not help to ease the pain and inflammation associated with the engorgement, as warm compress will increase pain and inflammation.

So I'l like to advice mamas to use more of cold compress with just few minutes warm/hot compress. Lets say have a warm bath, drink warm fluids, brief warm massage before breastfeeding and then 10minutes of cold massage after breastfeeding

You can check google for more info

Career / Re: Reasons Why The Best Time To Train As A Nurse Is Now! by Lumie08(f): 4:31pm On Sep 24, 2016

Op, there is absolutely nothing like online Nursing program, the last I heard, Nursing is more of practical than theory so who will be there to teach, guide, monitor and score the practical aspect of learning, I have a friend who wanted to register for online Nursing program but I discouraged her and now she is in the 200L, Nursing department in Nigeria so why the rush to go outside the country and do unaccredited online Nursing only for you to be jailed by Nursing and Midwifery council of Nigeria as a quack, please we all should be careful and try to get as much information as possible for any career we wish to specialize in

there is something like online nursing program in OAU atleast but for RN holders and it is part time

Family / Re: Why Do Yoruba Parents Discriminate Against Ogun Ladies In Marriage? by Lumie08(f): 2:12pm On Sep 19, 2016
HCF:
The irony of the whole thing is that, within Ogun state itself, the Egbas ( Abeokuta) don't want their children to marry the Ijebus and Vice versa: a friend of mine, an Egba guy, had to beg his parents profusely before they reluctantly blessed his relationship with the Ijebu lady...They have been married for years now....

prepare your mind ooo.
as you fit meet different kind of hands, both palatable and unpalatable.
also d procedure is believed not to be painful bit rather . makes one uncomfortable.
in counting d cm. 1 finger is 2cm, 2 fingers is 4cm, 3 fingers is 6cm, 4 fingers is 8cm And 5 fingers is 10 cm.

but you rarely see a midwife or Doctor that will insert 5 fingers... what they do is when d vagina accommodate 4 fingers they will just extend it.

you will soon be there.....

good evening pregy mamas.
I'm not pregnant but i like seeing or being around pregnant women and babies. I just dropped by the page and saw this which I will like to correct

A midwife or doctor will only insert 2 fingers and nothing more. 1finger represent 2cm, 2fingers 4cm. the person will then separate the 2 fingers. if he/she imagines that the space between the two fingers will comfortably accomodate a finger more, dat is 5-6cm. If he/she imagines that the space between the two fingers will accomodate 2fingers, that is like 7-8cm. so if the space is so wide, I mean like 3fingers will sit in comfortably, then dats d 10cm mark

for multigravid women, at 8cm mark the baby will most likely be on his way down. the primigravid women are usually the ones that need to get to the 10cm mark

the doctor or nurse will just imagine all this not that it is actually seen. then d result depends on how large or how small the health practitioners finger is.

pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (pcv) is free. it has already been inculcated into the immunization schedule for newborns. 3doses will be given at 6weeks, 10weeks and 14weeks
As long as u visit the immunization clinic on due dates for ur baby's vaccine, ur baby will surely be given

Health / Re: Managing Menstrual Pains Without Drugs. by Lumie08(f): 8:39am On Feb 15, 2015
Normally i dont have serious episodes that cannot be managed by ignoring and just taking a stroll but a particular month, i took a particular drink a day before (as-per nothing dey, it no kuku dey pain me too much) and i had this serious pain that had me begging God to forgive all my sins. I couldnt walk, i couldnt sit, i couldnt stand, i couldnt lay down and i was trembling so badly without even being cold. So i tried taking warm water which i hate so badly and it worked wonders.

So i believe if u dont wanna take drugs like me, let warm water be ur companion and wen u feel u can manage taking a walk please do. dont stay idle too.

No matter the level God deals with people, His yes will be yes and his no will be no.
