Shagati: Did you eventually change to either colour? Your post is from Dec last year
Pics?
Unfortunately not, I'm still rocking the Original StahlBlau colour.

I will get it painted someday, something exotic, maybe VAG Sepang Blue or BMW Sakhir Orange. Something really unique.

yungboss: great learning boss, good to know you understand these cars, if purchased wink I'll be sourcing for genuine parts, from you guys...
wondering if it would beat up my newly transformed 323ci with a 3.0 motor...
Okay, I'll bite but I'm more interested in how you got the M54 3.0 straight six in the e46. You need to create a thread for that ASAP.

I've been looking for ways to give my 323ci more power. You might have just helped me.
Car Talk › Re: Siena's MK5 Toyota Hilux Customisation Project - "Apple Candy". by lungwun(m): 11:08am On Jul 17, 2014
Sorry Siena for the slight thread derailment. I was wondering if it was at all possible to do an engine swap on a UK spec 03 Reg 2.0L Accord sport manual tranny and shoe horn the US spec 3.0 V6 whilst retaining the original manual transmission.

I would have created a new thread but I feel it would be pointless to.

If you, however, feel i need to create a new thread, please do let me know and i shall do so ASAP.

Now that you mention it, what is the rating of our fuel here in Nigeria? I know my E46 requires 91.
Car Talk › Re: BMW Owners' Forum by lungwun(m): 9:27am On Jan 04, 2014
I think I may just have bolloxed my car. Woke up to do some diy (change fuse 59, windscreen washer system) and due to the silly location of the glove box when trying to pull out the fuse, I mistakenly pulled out another 25a fuse.

Looking at the fuse card, there is only one 25a fuse in my e46, and that's still in place so I'm thinking I may have nudged out a spare fuse.

Problem is the car won't start now. It comes on, fuel pump runs, ac works, radio works, but the car does not turn over, not even a click can be heard in the engine bay. Like the key isn't communicating with the engine.

What could I have possibly done wrong and does anyone know a reliable BMW electrician in Abuja to come take a look-see?

Thanks.

The E92 is a beautiful car but unfortunately when I look out my window at my driveway, all I see is my E46 coupe, and that is what makes it more beautiful.

When I upgrade, that story might change.

Gee2728: @ shagati, i still dnt know y i find it hard to see past the beauty of a bmw E46. its still one of the best looking 3series for me especially the coupes.
I approve of this message. I might be biased though. wink

To be honest, after getting this e46 BMW I often ask myself, "why do people love these Japanese cars so much?"

Anyone know where I can get the cassette tape adaptor thingamajig to enable me plug my phone into its 3.5mm socket and enjoy tunes that way?

In Abuja preferably. Been to UTC in area 10 and they had no idea what I was on about.
Car Talk › Re: BMW Owners' Forum by lungwun(m): 9:22am On Dec 18, 2013
Thanks everyone for your kind words on my car. I really do love it but haven't taken her out for a spin in a while as my registration documents aren't out yet and I wouldn't want to contribute the Abuja police's Christmas chicken fund wink

In the new year I will definitely be changing her colour to Imola Red or Alpine white. Still undecided.

Once I get her registered, I shall take her out for a gratuitous photo shoot and post the pictures on here.

Also learnt that my power steering leak is from the steering rack and a replacement would cost me N75,000 plus installation (oh! the joys of being a BMW owner cheesy ) so I shall be topping up the reservoir till I get that bit sorted. It runs through a N600 bottle of hydraulic in a week.

Took the Honda to work today and I am not impressed. I kind of get where Siena comes from with his dislike for jap mobiles. They are pretty soulless. It also makes me marvel when I see the amount of people who would buy a used 2007 - 2010 Camry/Accord/Altima when for much much less, they could be grinning from ear to ear whilst seeing how many twisty roads I can drive along whilst doing speeds my Honda couldn't possibly do.

I am totally smitten by European cars now. They totally get driving enjoyment. I always thought jezza was a bit of a brand snob when he constantly praised some European cars but now I get it!

I also love the camaraderie amongst E46 owners in Abuja. Its really nice driving along in yours and you see someone driving along in his and you both look at each other in passing and smile knowingly that 'I could have bought any other car, but I decided I would get an E46'. Its like a secret society cheesy

I should be working but I am here gushing about what others would call a very old problematic german piece of poop car.

Thanks to this thread, I now know what its like to drive 'the ultimate driving experience'

Oh, by the way, my car is manual! (which is the only kind of transmission anyone who loves driving should own)

What are the Crash Test Scores on these things?
Car Talk › Re: BMW Owners' Forum by lungwun(m): 11:17am On Dec 09, 2013
I finally took delivery of my E46 323Ci over the weekend.

First impressions are very positive. Compared to my Honda, the car is built like a tank. It drives well, handles well though the engine is not as rev happy as the one in the Honda.

I have got a couple of minor niggles so far. The remote fob works intermittently and I hear its not a simple case of replacing the battery, so I also need to get a new key reprogrammed. My power steering pump is leaking ATF from an undisclosed location so I have to take a look at it.

Any one in Abuja who knows a very good mechanic should please share their contact so I can get these issues sorted out.

Attached is a pic of it

323Ci with staggered 235 front and 255 rears gunmetal grey 18'' rims.

Yes I am. Are you? If you are, that's great.

The are lots of mods I would like to do with my car and painting it would be the first step.

Wow! Its all dead in this section of the forums.

Get to posting lads! The Mercedes thread has us beat!

Anyhow, does anyone know the paint code for Imola Red (Imolarot II) or Electric red (Japanrot) my e46 is in Lagos and i'm thinking of doing it up in one of these colours. Before sending it over to abuja.

Its current colour is Steel Blue (Stahlbalu) which is a ridiculous colour. Anyone?

Car Talk › Re: Right Hand Drive (RHD) To Left Hand Drive (LHD) Conversion by lungwun(m): 3:21pm On Nov 25, 2013
erico2k2: Bro I do nt mean to dis you but no need lying to conffer ur knowledge, however, I stand to be corrected you can never ever switch the heater box as these have L and R shapes, there would be limited leg space for the front passanger, the only way round this is like waht seinna said a full conversion with OME Box, ie Buy a LHD Heater box.I did convert honders at ladipo 2008 to 20011 so I know what Im chatting about.
Bro I never expressly stated I had any knowledge on conversion all I did was refer to the fact that I have had several cars converter for me. As I stated in the post I quoted below

lungwun: Hi Erico, I am not a converter so I have no idea what they do to the heater box. I am guessing it will be switched over to the other side.
To which Siena stepped in and put me right. All I said regarding the actual conversion of cars up to the point Siena corrected me was plain conjecture.

To even insinuate I'm lying is borderline ridiculous and insultive. What would be my motivation for lying?

The mind, baffles!

If you go over to this thread, you will see examples of 2 cars I have had converted and priced to sell.
https://www.nairaland.com/1407619/2003-european-honda-accord-sport

And this is another thread where i discussed about the merits of converting a weekend car in which Siena participated and gave his input

Car Talk › Re: Right Hand Drive (RHD) To Left Hand Drive (LHD) Conversion by lungwun(m): 6:40pm On Nov 24, 2013
Siena: It can't be switched over. It will require a LHD HVAC assembly, which is a mirror image of the RHD unit.
Nicholdave there you have it - your answer.

Siena hath thusly spoken.
Car Talk › Re: Right Hand Drive (RHD) To Left Hand Drive (LHD) Conversion by lungwun(m): 6:26pm On Nov 24, 2013
Nicholdave: Hi erico2k2,

Thanks, lungwun; I see you got your facts right about the price of a nice used 407 in the UK.
Sone questions though:
1. How much for a real good conversion?
2. How long does it take?
3. Any answer to negate erico2k2's fears about the heater box under the glove compartment?
4. Any known electrical fault subsequently associated with this model?

Thanks.
Good conversion varies from model to model. I have had converted 2 53 reg Honda accords and they set me back 250k each.

Both accords had their heating moved from the left to the right and work flawlessly.

The Peugeot will be more expensive due to the monopolization of spare parts by PAN.

I have no idea on the cost of conversion of the freelander but if I remember correctly, that car was quite problematic.
Car Talk › Re: Right Hand Drive (RHD) To Left Hand Drive (LHD) Conversion by lungwun(m): 6:19pm On Nov 24, 2013
erico2k2: OK fare anough, Now tell me what you do to the heater Box, its usually bellow the Glove box as this has to be removed to make space for the pedal box and steering bracket seating.
Hi Erico, I am not a converter so I have no idea what they do to the heater box. I am guessing it will be switched over to the other side.
Car Talk › Re: Right Hand Drive (RHD) To Left Hand Drive (LHD) Conversion by lungwun(m): 7:08am On Nov 24, 2013
djfiki: i forgot to mention that good conversions cost about 350K. You can get a clean 407 from the UK at about 3000 pound (750k). shipping of about 500 pounds (125k) clearing at about (150k).

Your total landing cost should be about 1.4m or slightly higher
Very to the point write up. However there are a couple of discrepancies.

407's can be had for as little as 1500 quid if you dont mind changing your own cogs.

Clearance of said 407 is a lot closer to 300k not 150k

i agree with all your other points conversion of a 407 is pretty easy as the master cylinder does not need to be redlocated from the right hand side to the left hand side.

Nigerians are still scared of the conversions. But i will add this little tidbit. do not skimp on conversion. this is the most important part get someone who will do it well and pay the money to have it done.

I have converted 6 cars so far, some for myself and some for friends who rode in mine and saw the level of workmanship done to them. Got several more cars on the way from blighty for friends of friends who also spread the word virally.

Good luck

What options do e46 owners have for aftermarket Head Units?
The one i have my eye on has the Tape deck up front and a changer in the boot. can i upgrade the front head unit and still make use of the CD changer in the trunk?
My Car also does not have steering wheel controls which i think is rather odd.

Emperoh: Lol. . . . . . . .get to see it more often in Abuja these days.

Now that you mention it, i saw an X3 by Transcorp Hilton getting towed just yesterday. Something must have gone wrong as he had his hazard lights on embarassed

Loads of E46's in abuja so i will definitely go for one. Seems our mechanics have gotten to grips with them.

Just put down an initial payment on a 323Ci on 18's. Anyone know how much the 328 engine costs? I just might do an engine swap down the road.

Exellent Finish to the car.

Now get some cans of gunmetal grey or black Plastidip and try different colours to the wheels.

Plus side is you can strip them off if you don't like the end result.
