TEN MILLION NAIRA??!!!!??!?! On that good Benin weed |
abibun:How long is a piece of string? Please be specific, what W203 engine? |
Finally an interesting thread on car talk amongst all the tripe. Erico2k2, I would call myself a converted car from UK connoisseur. I have 4 cars I brought back with me in 2013 when I packed my bags and left (however, all of them combined weren't worth 1/5 of your range rover). Now these cars were all converted ladipo using locally sourced parts and are all still running like champs till date. During the conversion of mine, there was also an E65 745i getting converted the same time. I'm not sure what it's fate is now though. The major issue is, none of these cars are as complex as the range rover you intend working on. I would assume the most complex was the E46 I currently use which has been so stellar and so reliable I got tired of it. The rest were 2004 - 2006 Euro Accord, CRV and W203 sport coupe (okay, maybe this was the most complex). What I'm trying to say is, I respect the cojonés you must have to take on this undertaking, and if it all works out, it could indeed be interesting. I am not here to dampen your enthusiasm with 'what ifs' and all that. I do believe in following your heart and doing what you want to do after properly weighing the pros and cons. If in the end, after you have properly assessed the situation, and the pros are more than the cons, and your mind is totally prepared for the cataclysmic amount of borkage that could occur, then go ahead with it and keep us updated. I think I fancy a new barge (E38) to smoke around in after getting bored of the E46. And getting one from the UK and converting to smoke around in till I get bored again is on the cards. |
Shagati:Oh, I knew that Especially when you put up the G for sale and asked for the Vehicle history in that thread (twice if i may add) ![]() |
cne010:He is a turn coat! That's what he is. Leaving the germans and mingling with the ricers |
jpride:If the car goes off when the battery is disconnected, then the alternator is bad Also, there was no 2001 model year 528i |
Siena:That thing you speak of is sheer carelessness and the lack luster attitude of most people in Nigeria towards cars (and almost everything come to think of it). I have seen many decent cars ruined by drivers and mechanics who really don't know and don't wish to learn. Rather than learn, make up excuses about how this is unreliable and that is unreliable and everyone should buy a 4 cylinder Toyota. It's sad really. |
Wait!!! I have another This was in the mid 90's I decided the W123 would suit my needs just fine and snuck it out the premises when everyone was asleep. Arrived party, parked car front and centre, Partied hard, time to leave, came back to car, couldn't find reverse!! It was inscribed right there on the gear knob!! So why couldn't i find it ![]() In the end, had to get some of my mates to push it into reverse position. Got home and had to Push it back into the place he parked it Later had to study him driving to discover where reverse was |
Hey Guys, Lets use this thread to share silly things that happened to us in cars we owned where simple things left us stumped about what to do next. So I'll start The first car i bought in the UK was red E46 325i i bought off Mannheim in Colchester in the UK from the auction, i got temporary papers in order and i went to put petrol in it. Parked at the station, and spent the best part of 5 minutes looking for the lever to open the fuel tank! After fumbling and searching to no avail, I had to leave the pumps and park elsewhere as the people behind me were beginning to get impatient. In the end had to refer to trusty old Google to realise it was spring loaded. Then i came back to the pumps to fill up again looking like a right muppet. |
funso111:Number is not complete mate |
april4mee:And I replied your mail asking for a phone number to add you with. You never responded |
ogunvic41:You state run away without giving reasons why he should run away. I know an owner of a C280 4matic and she doesn't have any issues with the car. |
skj1377:Checked to see if you had a thread going for it but you didn't. How much is the S430 please? |

Hello people, I would like some info on the reliability of a Peugeot 206cc automatic. Anyone with information should please put me on the right path as I'm planning to purchase it for someone. |
nuttyp:The 325i is a good car. An inline 6 rather than a V6. There is a Whatsapp BMW owners forum i can get you added to if you post up your number here. Lots of people on there to influence your purchasing decision |
Kingreign = Lomomike |
9icetoo:Your friend could gut the DPF if he is in Nigeria as there are no rules to DPF's and Emissions in this country. I am really considering a diesel E60. |
This is not a 330, it's a 320 at best |
9icetoo:Please, what car is this, and does it have a DPF? |
praxisnetworks:No wahala |
Thunder strike me and my family? Is this even allowed on Nairaland. Gentleman, you have threatened my family and I shall not take this lightly at all. Yes, the internet helps give a false sense of anonymity but ... You just crossed the line. A full apology will be expected, and soon. |
I have never understood the reason why my fellow Nigerians always choose to be so abrasive and uncouth. I know its the internet and there is anonymity but could there also be some civility? Angels09 and Praxisnetworks, i don't know you guys but you sound like very bitter people. Maybe you all just need a hug? |
angels09:Jesus wept! |
kingreign:Yeah you are definitely him. ![]() Lomo, How far? I was rude to you because there was a time we crossed paths on nairaland and rather than be objective, you pandered to the crowd. |
kingreign:Quite possibly all of those. He Suffered too much from groupthink and ultimately lacked the objectivity that was needed to moderate efficiently. |
kingreign:I'm about to jump the shark and say you are the former moderator named lomomike. (Who was a bellend if I may add) Similar mannerism and composition of posts. Happy to be proven wrong but I'm never wrong. |
Vehicle Restoration is the process of restoring a vehicle that is either partially scrapped or otherwise life expired back to its original working condition. That's what I know as restoration. Not trying to rain on your parade but This is merely a fixer-upper. All it needs is maintenance. |
I'm not sure the pictures of the car you posted can pass for a restoration job. There basically is nothing to restore there. |
Here we go again
|
Very interesting discussion. With all this in mind, how will diesel range rovers fare in Nigeria? Is our diesel fuel any better than the low octane petrol here? Prior to coming back to Nigeria I owned only diesels and sorely miss their effortless torque. I have seen lots of diesel Mercedes GLs and GLks in Abuja, but just one diesel Evoque. |
Eyop:I think the answer is simple. One is an AMG, the other is regular. |
