That is definitely the NCC 1701 starship. |
I'd like to shake it up a bit and add an M139 Maserati Quattroporte to the suggestions I pass on to him. A Ferrari sourced engine, Italian flair and beauty (to me) can't be sniffed at. Reliability might be a sore spot but low mileage examples can be found for $20,000 - $30,000. Thoughts?

Hello nairalanders, it's question time again. My dad is looking to purchase a full size luxury sedan. He is set on buying one of the more common regulars. Either a 7 series or a Mercedes S Class. Since he is an old bloke, he has naturally gravitated to the Mercedes (plus Mercedes are old people's cars aren't they? *snigger*) I'm thinking more left field for him and I've sent him reviews of the Audi A8, Jaguar XJ8 and VW Phaeton. What do you reckon will be the best fit for him? I am pretty much sold on the Phaeton. Partly because it's pretty much a Bentley, looks understated, and I'm pretty sure it's better value than the A8. He doesn't care about 0 - 60 times and Repair / maintenance cost wouldn't really rattle him like it would me. In your replies, please state what you would recommend for your parent if you were in my shoes and why. I'm sure Siena will have a lot to say based on his love for VAG and my phaeton > A8 post earlier. CityNG, Lomomike, Emperoh, Sultaan and all you petrol heads, let's get a discussion going. |
Quite hard referring a mechanic when we don't know where you stay. |

Can I have some beans with all this 'Rice'? |
Because you asked nicely, here are some more photos ![]() The keen eyed ones will notice my amber front lenses are absent. Cracked one on an irate keke napep and to keep the general theme, removed the other. Got some replacements winging their way to me from autopartswarehouse.

Shagati, you have betrayed the cause. Update on my E46 StahlBlau got a bit boring so I did this. Matte Grey with red calipers. Getting some plastidip to give try out a different colour for the rims and some carbon fibre vinyl for some interior bits. Plan to wrap the vinyl myself. Will keep everyone posted

I'm shocked no one has suggested the BMW 335i in either E90 or E92 guise which will run rings around the girly C350 both mechanically and at the mechanics too. Horses for courses and all that but I'm a BMW guy so maybe I'm a bit biased. But I do love spirited driving and that's a feeling I haven't gotten from Mercedes yet. Plus almost everyone and their uncle has a C class. Why not deviate from the pack and get something not run of the mill. If I were getting another car and wanted some exclusivity, I would look at our American cousins and get one of the second generation Cadillac CTS's. |
Can i Play too?

Hi, Looking up your website, loads of the 'buy now' cats have their condition listed as 'not defined' What does this mean to the consumer? Cheers. |
Looks great but is absolutely useless to someone in Abuja. They also don't give indications on lead times which I consider rather important. |
Ugh, light skinned niggas. #TeamDarkSkin forever! |
itsadey: whats wrong with ? Ive done some repairs on my 645 recently, i can give an idea of cost implicationsPlease do give general cost implications. A 6 series will most likely be my next upgrade. After I get an X5 for the wife. |
Plus the SRT versions also have it etched on the seats. |
You still driving your 6 series that way? That's gangster! You must have lots of tips for the fuzz. |
I might do a Fly-By in my E46. But she is quite filthy Inside and out ![]() |
Sorry to be a bother/pain but could i get this done as well? 1HGCM66523A060904 Kindest regards. |
Thank you for your swift reply Two thumbs up! ![]() |
Hello and Good morning, Could i please get the vin report for this number? 1HGCP36838A077041 I need it quite quickly as my wife really wants to pull the trigger on it as soon as possible. Thanks |
How reliable are P38 Range Rovers. That could be a decent 4x4. Providing it is reliable, which I doubt. |
CityNG, I like the way you think. I had also considered the F body Camaro and I know, performance wise, it's a lot better than the equivalent Mustang GT. But I can't get over how ugly it looks. A Z28/SS will make an excellent speed racer. |
The left field is always appreciated. I could save up and buy the M3 but a good example without any subframe cracks and not ragged to death with a decent starts at 20 large dollars on Carmax. Obviously I could get from cars.com from 9 large USD but only God knows what state they would be in. Ultimately, an M3 is an M3 and its recognized everywhere. Those quad exhausts arent really that subtle. I was looking for a sleeper vehicle one that is happy pootling along at city speeds but could turn into a Hellcat when pushed. I have also looked at Supercharger kits from Active Autowerks but the >$5k outlay and 93 octane gas also makes one wonder. Body on frame trucks are what im looking at too as a work horse. Preferably One with GM's small block V8. The earlier (2001 - 2005) Chevy Tahoes and GMC Yukon Denalis could sate my need for an American V8 but boy are they Ugly! The Dodge Durango is no Prom queen either. ![]() The Ford explorer, been there, done that, 4 tranny rebuilds later, never again. If Diesel engines were more appreciated in nigeria, I would have gone with a 330D or 335D and had it remapped with a Superchips bluefin chip (Dont trust these here mechanics) |
Ultimately I may just go down youngboss route. 228hp is not a lot of gain off stock and my mechanic is also pretty certain he can work it. Youngboss, fill me in on your progress please so I can give my car some well deserved get up n go. |
Could you also add to your research, an 03/04 Cadillac SRX V8 to your quote please. Gracias. |
Hi There inspired, Could you give me a quick quote for a friend of mine? 2003/2004 Lincoln Aviator Luxury. Price inclusive of delivery to Abuja. Thanks and Kind regards. |
Thank you for that Siena, Just had a gander on Autotrader and ive seen a couple of 535's which I would love to buy whole. All are under the £1000 mark. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201407085656163/sort/default/engine-size-cars/3l_to_3-9l/postcode/cm776ad/onesearchad/used%2Cnearlynew%2Cnew/page/1/advert-type/Classified/radius/1500/usedcars/make/bmw?logcode=p http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201407055564779/sort/default/engine-size-cars/3l_to_3-9l/postcode/cm776ad/onesearchad/used%2Cnearlynew%2Cnew/page/1/advert-type/Classified/radius/1500/usedcars/make/bmw?logcode=p Unfortunately, they are both Automatics, I would much prefer a manual but can the automatic be shoehorned into the 3 series coupe? I would have gone for the 4.4 V8 but our mechanics aren't quite competent with that engine. Am I right in guessing I will need the engine, Transmission and wiring harness/ECU from the donor car to complete the swap? |
Hello Siena, I would be grateful for your thoughts on this matter, https://www.nairaland.com/1842664/e46-323ci-need-more-power After-all, all these your swaps started it all ![]() |
Hello and Good day everyone. Inspired by Siena, I have done a bit of researching on the net and I have discovered my rather tame 323Ci could do with more power. I had initially decided buying a faster/more powerful model but i'm in love with my Beemer. So I thought, why not an engine swap? My car currently has the M52TUB25 in it and I thought to do a swap to the TUB28 but 20hp gain wasn't worth plonking N200 large on a new engine. I also thought of going for the M54B30 but the whole faffing about with throttle bodies and the fact that in the end, it is a car I could still go out and buy soured the thought for me. In my research I also considered getting one of BMW's earlier 3.5 V8s and fitting it in there. But alas, so far my research into the topic has brought up no results. Upon further perusal of the net, I found this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16mfBvb5Reo This is actually using the LT1 v8 from earlier Corvette's and Camaro's in it. I obviously do not have the time nor money to personally import a V8 from the US of A and get it fitted (Including an M3 transmission and Exhaust) so that leaves me back at square 1. Do I, continue to pootle along as I have? Or do I create a new vehicle for myself? A real sleeper but one that can release the beasts from Hades whenever a Camry V6 wants to test me? If the Vanos equipped BMW 3.5 V8 will work without too much hassle, I will just go for that and call it a day. Anyone have any ideas (Siena and Somorin#1/CityNG, your thoughts will be greatly appreciated here). |
I was going to pass on replying but I will just say a few words. I drive an E46 BMW and my mechanic hasn't built a house. My wife drives a Honda Accord and part for part, hers are more expensive. But, go ahead, drive your Honda, and have fun whilst doing so. I can't believe someone is choosing and Accord over an E90 BMW. |
Siena: That Lincoln has to rank amongst the worse of the worst. Large wheels are meant to be in proportion with the body / chassis of the vehicle.I can imagine a 3 point turn with those wheels. More like 8 point turn |
