Wake up!

Dear patriotic Nigerians
Another time has come
To make it right
So that our unborn kids
Won't question God
Like we did
Why Nigeria
Of all hells why Nigeria

We have to wake up
If we want to revive this dead society
Ridding her of filth in all entirety

Are we so deep asleep
Like logs
Have we no use
Like burnt plugs
Are our eyes too closed
To see a good future
To correct the past
And invent the future
But instead...
We complain about the past
We deny our present
And hope for the future

But this future
Has been slaughtered
If we wake up not and
Do the right thing

Living in a society synonymous to hell
One that corruption equals favor
One that praise those who loots our treasures
Where we cry like babies
complain like slaves
Like the men of Babylon
Ended without achieving what we cried and complained for

But No
We love them
We love the oppressions
We love poor standards of living
We crave their false confessions without a befitting reward

I said No.
We love the Masters of hell
As they serve us hot hardships from their beautiful throne
And torture us without pity
Making suffering our call of duty

Oh dear patriotic Nigerians
It is another chance to rewrite history
This time not with inks
But our thumb prints

It is another chance to take back what outrightly belongs to us

Before I go
Let me warn you about two men
Emotionless, Merciless
Chanting their false competence
Steady killing us with pretence

Choose to be night owl
Choose to be a woke soul
Choose to discern hidden meanings
When these devils come with grinning

EducationODSG: Aaua Fee Should Have Been Increased To 500k by Macdan20(op): 10:18pm On Apr 10, 2018
The special adviser to ondo State governor on education has made it clear that the new increment even if approved and acceptable by the students is not enough to run the university(AAUA)

speaking in a program anchored by OSRC TV, she made it clear that the increment isn't enough as if 500,000 naira Was The initial uploaded fee, it will be more acceptable so as to improve the quality of education in the university

She made it clear that if the increment payment is allowed to be welcomed by all stakeholders, many students will be clamouring to go to the University

Hence, she said the University ought should have increased it to 500,000 naira so as to make the University the best institution to learn

Greetings sirs,

It is lamentably pitiable that I'm writing this with tears in my eyes and with a sorrow-filled mind.

I Eniolorunopa_Collins a 400l student of Agricultural Extension, hereby write to inform you that I'm done with education at this stage the school fee has gone outrageous.

Let me quickly hark back to how I do pay for the fee then, My father(a retired civil servant) & My mother(on and off trader) has paid for my school fee just once ever since I've started schooling. My sister and I struggled to pay twice and now that I'm almost done schooling it's so melancholy that I just have to drop out as there is no hope on this earth to pay for that exorbitant amount twice before I become a graduate.

I'm not laying emphasis on this to seek for help to further my education but to get you informed how I made it thus far,,,, where I come from? *From the Gutter*(that area where meeting up with 3square meals is a sin,, that area where you have to stay up late at night and wake up very early every morning to get going with the daily struggle,,,that area where laughter is wild and rare).

Thanks for the knowledge you've imparted on me during my stay in AAUA as it will really help me to be my own boss in agribusiness.

If there is one way you could help me, just give me the amount worth paying for the exorbitant fee twice then I start up with it *NOT TO PAY FOR THE SCHOOL FEE* But to project into the future.

I'm so sure many of my *faculty* and *departmental mates* are also on the verge of quitting because that amount is just too *enormous* and *it is poisonous* We really can't afford it; *we are so poor and we can't keep up*

*PRESS STATEMENT FROM ADEKUNLE AJASIN UNIVERSITY AKUNGBA STUDENTS' UNION*

Aluta greetings to all Adekunle Ajasin University Students from the apex agitating body.
Today makes it 80days that we have been made to sit at home since the 2016/2017 academic session ended.
It is quite pathetic and sardonic that the government has been quite undisturbed by this disheartening predicament.

The government has been so unperturbed by the fact that we are wallowing and wasting away at home.
We have wasted a whole semester at home doing nothing.
The hope of our 500L Law students going to Law School is now hanging in the wind.
We are made to go through all this unpalatable rigours all because of the unfortunate indecisiveness of the government.

We have been silent enough. We will not allow the administration of the government to toy with our future. We have been pushed to the wall, and it is now highly sacrosanct, germane and imperative to take our destiny into our hands.

*_On this note, we are strongly giving out a 7-working-days ultimatum to the government and also to the governing council of AAUA, to facilitate all necessary necessities to bring about the resumption of AAUA.This ultimatum count down shall kickstart on monday, 2nd of April 2018. _*

Failure of the government and the governing council to do the needful will draw the wrath of the Nigerian students.

EducationPress Release From AAUA Students Union On Purported Hike In Sch Fee by Macdan20(op): 1:26pm On Mar 23, 2018
*BEING A PRESS RELEASE OF THE STUDENTS UNION, ADEKUNLE AJASIN UNIVERSITY, AKUNGBA-AKOKO, ON THE PROPOSED ARBITRARY INCREMENT OF TUITION FEE OF STUDENTS*

We address this international press conference to state categorically and emphatically the stand of the Students’ Union over the proposed increment of the tuition fee of the students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko.
On the 9th December, 2017, Gov. Rotimi Akeredolu made an emphatic statement that there would be an “upward review” in the fee paid by students of the institution. Having properly amained that statement however, with due consultation with the rank and file of members of our Students’ Union, we therefore make the following statements:

• The Students Representative Council, being the body directly representing the interest of the students, having consulted with the students from all departments in the university, and vehemently reject and stand against any increment in the school fee.

• The current Students’ Union under the leadership of Ijanusi Olawale, having consulted with the general populace, parents, relevant stakeholders, have also come to conclusion that any form of increment is unjustifiable, anti-masses, anti-student and anti-worker.

• The government, through its parastatals has been giving pathetic but flimsy excuse, such as the Commissioner for Information giving the reason for the increase as the disparity in the school fees of AAUA and other Ondo State owned institutions.

• We make bold to say that the government by implication wants to make life unbearable for the masses; the children of whom dominate the studentry of AAUA.

• The Students’ Union is of the view that, if the government has not increased its funding, how does it turn around to increase the fees of students? Are students supposed to pay for its irresponsibility and nonchalance towards its own institution?

• For the past ten (10) years, the Government have been saddled with the responsibility of managing the current fee. If they can do it for this long, then the Government can do it for more years. If anything must be changed at all, it should be the government attitude towards its institution.

• We make bold to say that AAUA is an oasis in the desert, and a reliever of the burden of educating students of Ondo State. Many of our students are children of the masses, petty traders, self-sponsoring physically challenged individuals and children of civil servants who survive on low income and/or inconsistent salaries.

• If the proposed school fee is favourable, it will not be suggested that we pay twice.

• If we can recall, it is notable that during the previous economic recession faced by the nation, the previous government of Ondo State did not make such move as increasing the tuition paid by students in this institution; and today, the university management/State Government parade with a non-realistic figure of expending five hundred (N500) on each student on daily basis

• The recent claim by the university management cum the State government that it spends Five Hundred Naira (N500) on every student on daily basis is not only preposterous and iconoclastic but can also be likened to the myopic claim of the Nigerian government of spending Fourteen Thousand Naira (N14,000) on each inmate per day; it is absolute falsehood. An institution that makes its students pay for every service offered to students, and has never provided some dire basic academic needs such as free internet, substantial health services is making such frivolous claims.

• The government should increase the Internally Generated Revenue of the University to alleviate the financial woes of the institution.

• AAUA has a history of producing outstandingly brilliant students such as the popularly known Awe Fredrick, Opeyemi Alonge, Faith Falade, Kazeem Olanrewaju etc. Consequently, the Rotimi-Akeredolu-led government intends to dismantle history right before our eyes.

• The statement of the Commissioner for Information, that AAUA has a faculty of Engineering is evident enough being a fact that the government lacks adequate information about “its own institution”, and this shows the government’s lack of vision and passion for the welfare of the students of AAUA.

It is imperative we make the State government, under the hegemony of Gov. Rotimi Akeredolu recall one of its promises towards education during the electioneering process. He stated categorically that there would be no iota of increment in the tuition fee should he emerge as rumored earlier. Coming up with a contrary decision against his promise can be termed as delusion and hanky-panky exhibited on the path of the government.

On a final note, we wish to categorically without fear or favour reiterate that we will vehemently reject any form of increment, and that we will not allow ourselves to be subjected to any form of intimidation, oppression, victimization and threat, as traditional and conventional reactions to our past comrades. Any attempt attempted by any attempter to infringe on our legitimate rights, will be met with massive resistance by the rank and file of students and notable dignitaries across the country and diaspora.

*In a nutshell, we say NO TO INCREMENT IN SCHOOL FEES!*

*God Bless AAUASU!*
*God Bless AAUA!*
*God Bless Ondo State!*
*God Bless Nigeria!*

SQUARE PEGS IN ROUND HOLES!!!

"When you have people of no identity and integrity at the helms of affairs, then you are heading to destruction"

Some few minutes ago, a commissioner namely Yemi Olowolabi (Ministry of Information &
Orientation). under this present government in Ondo state was live on Adaba FM Akure, trying to justify the inhuman intention to increase the tuition fee of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko.

At first, I was not surprised at their defence because you don't bit a finger that feeds you. But I feel concerned to deduce that these people know nothing about our tertiary institutions. For heavens sake when did AAUA started engineering courses? I shocked to hear when the commissioner said it is not justifiable when you pay #150,000 studying Engineering in OSUSTECH and pay #35,000 to study same engineering in AAUA. It obviously show how knowledgeable they are about our institutions lol.

It is crystal clear that there is no valid justification for the purported increment. From the program, I learnt something. It was made obvious that some of those in government who probably have one or two persons in other tertiary institutions in the state are the ones pushing for a rise in the tuition fee of AAUA. This further show how myopic minded these people are!

I must commend the anchor of that program for saying the truth and saying the mind of the people. She asked critical questions that these fellows could not give any acceptable and logical answers to. All they could do was to remind her she was a journalist. She pointed it to them straight up that any form of increment at this present time is wicked and callous.
They didn't want her to talk or ask questions. They accused the previous government of *POLITICING OUR EDUCATION* and I felt like, what 'do you mean exactly'? he accused the previous administration that it was because it was the brother to the governor who was the vice chancellor in AAUA that all those things were done. he said the economy is bad, therefore the reason for the increment.

I dare to challenge them to publicly tell us how much they earn as commissioners and when last they were paid! Their allowances alone are more than what some civil servants earn in a year. They receive their salaries as and when due.
How would they know the plight of the people when they don't use their money to buy anything. Had it been the case that they go market with their salary to buy garri, rice, beans and other stuffs, they would know how to publicly air out opinions. They would have learnt to economise their words.
But wait o, what has really come over these people? Many of them have humble backgrounds, have they suddenly forgotten how it feels? The presenter reminded him ondo state is majorly dominated by civil servants but this met no attention from him as he waved and brushed the question aside. he was giving an analogy that gospel is free but you have to buy Bible. He said education is our right, but you must pay for it. "Se e ngboro lenu eye"?

To worsen the situation, the said the increment lies in the hands of the governing council. It was at that point I got the game. They chose Dr. Tunji Abayomi because " omo INA laa ran si Ina ". The man too could not detect this.

Yesterday in the so called PTA meeting, the pro chancellor said he would get the comments back to the governor because it is him who has the final say. Now our commissioners said it lies in the hands of the management and the council. Who is fooling who?
By now these people should know any increment will be outrightly rejected. We will resist any form of increment.
They made reference to the fact that no state owned university payas low as we pay in AAUA, therefore it must be increased. He said in EKSU, they pay #100,000 for acceptance fee. Thank God the presenter made it clear that was not correct.
Every day, each episode of the drama keep evolving. We keep hearing and seeing new scenes.
It is a huge shame that this government is playing politics with out future. You want to give us weak education so that you will continue to rile right? You don't want to give us sound education so we won't challenge you in future right? That plan has failed! We will demand for what is ours and we will get it!
If I may ask, can your children be at home for more than three months without going to school? Will this meet your admiration and commendation? All your children are in private schools, no wonder you are stone-hearted.
You cannot put some unnecessary spendings on hold and improve the level of education in the state?
You all go about associating yourselves pa Awolowo, pa Ajasin and a host of others, why are deviating from their standards? Why do you want to destroy their legacies? Well, just like a parent said yesterday, "oba to he to ilu roju, oruko e o no pare, oba to run he, to ilu daru, ao ni gbagbe iru win naa..."

I made bold to say this government lacks the will power to move this state forward in terms of education.

In the first place, what is the prioirty of this government? You keep blaming and blaming the previous administration, painting yourselves good, well, may I remind you that you won't be there forever? Not even beyond four years. Our PVCs and intact and ready.
A whole commissioner for information misleading the citizens, what a slap in himanity! We keep our fingers crossed and await the official release of the increment that will be "affordable to meet the present day realities" if we won't reject it outrightly.

*FROM THE STUDENTS' UNION AAUA*

Today, being Thursday 15th, March 2018, we had a closed-door meeting which lasted for over 5 hours with the Chairman Governing Council of Adekunle Ajasin University concerning the proposed school fee review.

In the meeting, we had a long-term discussion, which involved arguments, disagreements, understanding and other things of such, which majored on the basis that the school fee should not be increased.

In the meantime, we have been made to realize, by this meeting, that the Governor in person of Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu only entertains a proposition of a minimum of *Two Hundred Thousand Naira (#200,000)*, which the Students Union leaders frankly disagreed with.

A lot of time passed as we engaged in arguments and analysis of reasons why the state government should continue its good deed in maintaining the present affordable amount paid by the Students of Adekunle Ajasin University. However, the Pro Chancellor/ Chairman Governing Council concluded that he would meet with the Governor, and relate our position and plea with him. Also he added that the Governing Council will be having a meeting with parents on *Thursday, 22nd of March 2018 at the university Obasanjo Multu purpose Hall. 11am.*

However with the above clearly stated and emphasized, the Students' Union insists with an unshaking or unrelenting stand that the school fee should not be increased.

We however implore all students of Adekunle Ajasin University to continue with trusting the capability and power of unity in our decision as we all stand together on the fact that our school fee needs no increment.

In unity we stand.
And divided we fall.

Education#low aaua tuition and call for resumption. by Macdan20(op): 9:50pm On Mar 08, 2018
AS WE JOURNEY THROUGH THE STRUGGLE!!!

For days now, concerned comrades, parents and students alike have been united in clamour for a quickest return to class room and that the tuition fee of ADEKUNLE AJASIN UNIVERSITY AKUNGBA AKOKO should remain. This has attracted attention from across all sections.

Permit me to say that our pleas and cry however loud it is, appear to mean nothing to this present government. To start with, our respected Commissioner for Education in ondo state made it loud and clear to the whole world that TERTIARY EDUCATION IS NOT CHEAP. He said this on a program on OSRC TV, I watched him live and I recorded the video. He further stated that it is a choice.

More so, he made a mockery of humanity by making reference to parents who sends their wards to private primary and secondary schools. In his own view, if they can pay much in those cadres, they should not complain of increased fee in the tertiary institutions.

As if that is not enough, a so called press release was on social media yesterday that the school has not resumed because of renovation on going. This I tagged joke of the century. It is also a mockery of common sense. It obviously shows we are thinking anew.

More so, in the cause of the struggle, many comrades though are now graduates joined to echo our plight to the world. Even those I personally never expected could. Unfortunately, our respected so called comrades suddenly ran short of data to contribute to the struggle, when some of them eventually got lucky to share from a friend's WiFi, their contributions further added salts to our wounds. Indeed the future is cloudy!!!

I am tempted to ask, what exactly is the priority of this government? We all could testify to the fact that the previous administration had a blue print. Accepted, no one is short of shortcomings, they had their flaws but they had priorities. Health was one of them.
We have commissioner for youths, what will he say he has done so far? W have heard from our Hon. Commissioner, he already told us Tertiary education is not cheap, and that it is a choice. Has the government indirectly shut down our school?

Shortly after coming on board, there was an education submit which I so much applauded. But one became worried about the recommendations of these elites who formed the committee and were products of free education.
According to our Hon. Commissioner for education, when the fees are increased, then we will be able to compete globally. May I quickly remind him, the low tuition fee being charged in AAUA has singled it out in world map.
Despite the low tuition fee, our faculty of law is arguably the best in this country. Then I am forced to ask, how will increment in school fee affect quality education? I am asking because I do not understand, I want to learn.

We are being taught in school that education is our right not a privilege, has that changed again? Is that part of the recommendation of the education submit committee too? Is education now a source of making money? Or is it the money we pay they use in building the structures?
Why can't government reduce some spendings in order to make education affordable for the students and parents? Or do they even think it is everyone in schools who have parents sponsoring them? I heard the government want to build a new government house, can't that one wait? With over #100billion, I think there are more than enough to spend on education in the state.

Maybe someone need to remind them that nothing lasts forever, this life is turn by turn. It is your turn now, whatever you do will answer for you later on.

As for our other comrades who have chosen to be tyrants by remaining silence in the face of oppression, I have nothing to say to you yet, when the time comes, we will know what is what. No wonder some people never believe in the youth! No wonder the old despite their inferior numbers still on all occasions have their ways using hungry youths.

I have received several calls, warning me not to air out my opinion because these people are in power. I appreciated them though but I choose not to be a coward, whatever we do today, history will refer to them.

Why must we lick the ground to get what is ours? Why must our parents who are not being paid regularly suffer even more?! Even when you are been paid, how much can the salary cater for?

The government removed subsidy from Waec payment, they intend to increase school fee, yet unwillingly to increase minimum wage, we are indeed thinking anew!!!
My silence has not protected me,
Yours will not.

Therefore I have chosen to speak out.
As we journey through the struggle, let us struggle through the journey to the end. Some hold the opinion that we are only ranting, let us show them we are not, we are only civilised and chose the best option. We are getting there
A quick reminder, you are in power today, not forever.

When injustice prevails, then the fundamental embodiment of the society is crippled "baletiz 18'

It is very saddening, demeaning and highly sardonic as all our efforts to call necessary stakeholders especially the state government to find a lasting panacea to issues affecting our resumption back on campus

It has been noticed that despite our efforts in resolving this, there has been traits of obstreperous inclined in the heart of those that have the power to resolve matters

Nevertheless, We really appreciate all those who has contributed in several areas for this affirmative action which is to RESUME BACK TO OUR CAMPUS WITHOUT INCREMENTS OF TUITION FEE.

Just as I have sworn on the 10th of may 2017, that I will always protect the interest of the students and also as it's been stated in the student union constitution. *section 8 sub section 2b*

EducationOndo State Commissioner For Education: going to school Is a Choice by Macdan20(op): 11:46am On Mar 06, 2018
From the words of our commissioner for Education.

This evening I tuned in to OSRC, fortunately I saw our commissioner for education on a program, I can't recollect the name of that program.

Various questions were asked of which he woefully failed to give convincing answers. From his words, the government is scrapping mega schools.
When asked about tertiary institutions in the state, our honorable commissioner was far from convincing. To him, tertiary education is not a charity work, you cannot be paying 36,000 for tertiary education.
When asked how he think the people will cope if the money increased, he said who says the parents won't afford it....
He said they send their wards to private secondary schools, where they are even paying more and besides, it is a choice.

EducationOpen Letter To Ondo State Governor On Aaua by Macdan20(op): 12:43am On Mar 06, 2018
OPEN LETTER TO HIS EXCELLENCY, GOV. ARÁKÙNRIN ROTIMI AKEREDOLU (SAN).
The Governor of Ondo state.

Dear Mr. Gov.

On behalfof all AAUA student, I am using this available medium to firstly congratulate you on your one year Succesful stay in office as the Governor of Ondo state. I wish you more success as you journey down to the second, third and the fourth year.

The reason for this short piece is mainly concerning AAUA resumption and School fees increment. As a concerned student of this great citerdel of learning, it has been a tumour in the eye for us all, as we are in the dark concerning the school resumption and School fees increment. It is a common knowledge that it is an Askew situation for students to be home when they should be in school. Moreover, we all say 'children and youths are the future of tomorrow', if they are not made a strong foundation, on what will the future be upon? How do we want to make a forest, when we can't cultivate the young trees we have? Our fate is like that of chicks, whose mother left out for the Hawk. It is apparent that both Education and Economic system of this country do not favour what we are going through presently, and the only Saviour our prayer can be made to, is to you Sir, His Excellency.

The school fees increment has already brought some Parents and guidance to a state of caustic state of mind. We pray you swerve briskly before it gets out of hand for many innocent citizens of this state with a bright shinning future lying on its youth, concerning the school fees increment. If there will be need for that due the Economic situation of the State, why should it be done blithely and dilate the school expenses without considering the kind of students in the school and the family they come from. I suggest that it should be done in a gradual process, so that it won't scare people away from learning. Education is our right, and we always appreciate every concerned body that gives us what we deserve, however, it will be a way of taking it away from us, if the school fees is what a common man cannot afford. Most students of this school labour to sponsor themselves. Ondo state is known for affordable Education among other things. And this has made everybody to commend every previous administrations. It will be a chagrin if this administration will not maintain this pace which has been set from the beginning sir.

Furthermore, over 17,000 students are waiting doing nothing but burning away their precious time under their parent roofs almost for to three months now when they should be in school. And it is usaually said that 'An idle hand, is a devil's workshop'. I fear what many student might be thinking right now when their mind is being taking away from books. We believe if there is nothing cryptic we shoukd have been in school by now. We need you to do something sir. We want to walk in the track you have once walked. We want to taste the water you have once tasted. We want to enjoy the fruit of education that has brought you this far. And it will be a fantasy, if we are kept afar from Education.

Without mincing words sir, We student of Aaua are seeing this situation as an excruciating, grotesque and horrendous menace. We feel the Mayhem in the bottomless part of our heart sir. If resumption is futher delayed or school fees is increased blithefully, then I fear many may end up in an infirmary due to edginess.

In conclusion sir, on behalf of All AAUA students, I am crying before your Excellency sir, with my very humble self, that you should save our future which is already lying in resumption and School fees increment. We urge you Sir, not to peremptorily tamper with the School fees because it will lead to a precarious situation in the State. Also, we want to be back to school because 'Where a man's treasure is, there will be his heart.

We say no to school fess increment.
We cry out for resumption.

OMOBOLARINDE HERITAGE A.
(JESUS HERITAGE).
Sophomore LAW STUDENT, AAUA.
Thanks.

PoliticsOpen Letter To Ondo State Government About Plan To Commercialize Education by Macdan20(op): 12:28am On Mar 06, 2018
WHEN SILENCE IS NO LONGER GOLDEN; ATTENTION MR. GOVERNOR.

Greetings to your Excellency, and all members of your carbinate sir. We honour your position and do not take it for granted.

However,
"The moment one keeps mute on what matters, he begins the spelling of his doom".
At a time when everything seems to be at a stand still, at a point when confusion enthrone the throne, we hope that you would come to our aid, as we see you to be a respectable and people oriented governor -Arakunrun Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu (San).

I write as a concerned Student of this state to express my feelings in relation to how the education of this state is being mishandled across all it's segments.

It is worthy of note that for the past few months, Rufus Giwa Polythecnic Owo has been closed down. Although this is traceable to the destructive riot embarked upon by the students. It remains unclear if AAUA is suffering from the same punishment as well, having not embarked on any similar protest or riot.

However, the continued forceful or imposed break has led to many things among which joblessness takes the lead. Students wake daily to repeat the same circle and are subsequently tired of such.

What is so pathetic is that, no one seems to know what is what. Everyone is kept in the dark as there have been no statement from the government, leading to speculation in some areas that the government has neglected it's people, whom on the contrary, their welfare should be it's primal priority.

More so, you will agree with me that the economy of the country is not really palatable, the means of livelihood of the market men and women who trooped out en mass to exercise their franchise in your favour has been dealt with unfairly as they now find it difficult to meet their daily and basic needs.
Although it is no longer a rumour that the school fees is set to be increased because you unequivocally stated that during the last convocation ceremony. Now, this has been causing sleepless nights as no one seem to know the percentage by which it will be increased. Remember dear governor "ireti pipe maa n fa a are okan".

I may not qualify to do this sir, but permit me to quickly remind you, you were once like us and I believe you still have in you the spirit of Agitation for good governance.

In the light of this, I join my voice with that of all concerned comrades to echo it that 'our stay at home is out dated'. We want to resume back to school.

We believe you are a father, you know what it means for your child not to be in school for more than two months, and we hope to see that fatherly side of yours respond to us urgently.

My silence has not protected me, therefore I have chosen to pen this.
I and thousand other students, look forward to a prompt response and action from you, and I wish you a successful tenure in office.
Mr Governor.
