Good evening All,
Pls I need help with my 2004 Peugeut 406.
Recently, it doesn't accelerate enough especially when u switch gear from Gear 1 to 2 or 3.
Infact, on gear 3, it stalls as if I want it want to go off.
Worse still it struggles bad to climb small hills.
But if I switch off the engine for a few seconds and restart the car, it moves well and then starts same process of dragging after a few meters. And when you off engine and restart the car, it moves well for like 100 meters and drags when u change gear to 3.
Even if you press hard on the throttle, the car drags badly.
It is not fuel issue, cos there is enough fuel of over 20 litres in the car.

Pls I will be glad if I can get meaningful ideas as to the problem and solutions.
Thanks in advance.
I had a very similar experience on my Honda V6. Like exactly what you described. At first I thought my gear has packed since the thing will move well on gear one but starts misbehaving in gear 5 and eventually can not overtake a tortoise.
It ended up being the oil pump. Maybe you should check that first.

Note: it is always adviceable to change the fuel pump as a complete assembly, not just extracting the actual fuel pump. A couple of things in that assembly helps the pump work well and last long. Things like fuel pressure regulator, fuel filter, etc. If you don't change them, what happened to the first pump might happen to the new pump. I'm talking from Honda experience.

Good evening bosses in the house. My honda civic 2007 jerks while pressing the accelerator down. We have clean the plugs and injectors and the problem still persist...

I took the car for scanning and it read rocker arm pressure.... I saw it here from a guru on nairaland that only the rocker arm pressure switch should be change, but the technician said we should change the whole rocker arm.

The problem is he hasn't even check the problematic part too know if we can still use it or change the switch alone. He insisted on changing all the rocker arm pressure...

Any idea on what too do please

What is "rocker arm pressure"?
What codes are you getting?
Your kazeem wants to start by changing the whole rocker arm? What exactly do you mean by " whole rocker arm?

Anyways, your problem might have nothing to do with your spark plugs or injectors.
Check these in this order.

Oil level
Oil thickness
Vtec solenoid screen (filter)
Vtec solenoid

Picture is of k24 rocker arm.

Then trace the oil and fix the leak. If it's oil seal, then replace it with a good one. Your mechanic should be able to handle this.

I was happy, angry and confused all at the same time.
Why did the code persist for so long?
Why did it suddenly clear when I'm about to go crazy on it?
I'm sure everything is regards my VTC is working fine, which means I've not found the problem. Or maybe there was never a problem. My brain is headaching me. grin
And as normal, one or two things were damaged in the process, all for nothing.
I hope that evil p0011 doesn't come back if not, I will just set the car on fire and have peace of mind. (Don't worry I no fit burn my only car grin)
So, unfortunately, the evil p0011 came back today for no obvious reason after exactly 1 week of no codes. I'm beginning to think my village people are after me.
I tried to set the car on fire but I no get money for fuel as fuel don cost. undecided

I am not a mechanic neither am I "mech" savy. I am just saying from my experience which is 100%

A failing or bad fuel pump will stall or shut down an engine when in a traffic jam or while Ac is turned on during idling .
Those were the two thing that happened that got me changing fuel pumps. I bought these news pumps three times before I finally opted to buy buy "Tokunbo" complete fuel pump assembly. Bad fuel pump will stall your car in a traffic jam, I thought we all know about this because whenever mine happens, drivers would pass by and tell me to go change fuel pump

You would struggle to climb upward slope of a bridge.
You might also be struggling to go past some certain high speed. You will be pressing the pedal but your speedometer guage would remain the same except you brake a while and pedal hard.

Also what is the alternative readily available steering fluid to use where the honda recommended one is not available? The manual says one can use any other fluid temporarily, but not gear oil
Silly question.
Solution to a leak is to plug the leak. Even a 5yo knows that.

from experience, it is either one of these:
bad fuel pump
bad spark plugs/ ignition coil.

my bet is on the fuel pump. It is likely failing. let your mechanic check the pressure of your fuel pump. It has happened to me just as you described.
That does not sound like fuel pump issue. A failing fuel pump will give issues when higher pressure is needed, that is at high speeds or when accelerating. This will manifest as loss of power.
OP never complained about any issues at high speeds or while accelerating.

NairaOcean:
President Tinubu, during a Ramadan Iftar gathering with traditional rulers and religious leaders at the State House in Abuja on Thursday, March 28, delivered a poignant message to Nigerians, urging them to refrain from cursing the nation and instead focus on changing bad leaders through the democratic process.

"The love of the nation is in your hands. Pray for our country. Educate our children. The sermons we preach to the members of our churches and mosques are important," President Tinubu expressed passionately.

In a call to action, Tinubu emphasized the power of the vote, stating, "Do not condemn your own nation. If a leader is bad, he should be voted out in the next election." Drawing on Yoruba wisdom, he added, "As a Yoruba man and as our fathers will say, ā€˜no matter how slippery the bottom of your child is, you must leave the beads there.ā€™"

An electrician came yesterday and dig out one transparent fuseā€”sort of big, joined wire to it and inserted it back. From there, light entered the car but it won't still start.

At first, it behaved like the problem was as a result of a low battery but even after changing it to a good one, the car still behaved same way. Lastly, he suggested we get a mechanic to try to turn the engine from the side and see if it's going to be free and if it turns, then the problem, according to him, will be the Kickstarter.

So, that's the situation for now.

So the sales went and no action as the rates were not worthwhile. Some people are happy though. Two nights ago I was ruminating about whether a 40 dollar discount was worth it for the Hifiman Ananda headphone I wanted to buy. I decided not because I would still have needed 420k at the current rate.

Somebody then opened a thread asking people to buy dollars because dollar will still get to 1800 and that the naira is overvalued.
I've seen the damage caused by the shrinking value of the naira with nigerian children going to bed hungry so
I cautioned him about his economic sabotage but he was bent on continuing his nefarious activities so I went to the efcc website and reported the matter pointing to the thread.

It was already 2.30 am so I went to sleep with the intention to call two people at the ogun state governors office when I wake up.
Sadly the thread and all references to it has been deleted by the morning as it was blatantly created to cause economic problems.
I was disappointed because I really wanted to spoil that obedient fools life and wanted the government to use the fool as a scapegoat.

From now on, I'm opening fire on these fools anytime they cross the line. Saboteurs are everywhere but hopefully the naira improves in spite of their hindrances before the next sales.
As much as I don't support what the guy was doing, I don't also get the point of this post. Do you want us to clap for you? Or recommend you for the naira hero award? Election is more than a year over, yet you are still crying foul. People are suffering, yet everything to you is still about obidients and Batist. See you see heart attack o.

Get a fuel pressure gauge and you can check the fuel pressure by just turning ignition on.

Before you opened it up, were u experiencing the rattle sound at cold start?

If the P0011 returns, next thing to check is the VTC oil screen then the VTC solenoid which has screens too. Any of the 2 clogged screen will also cause the P0011. Low oil pressure could cause it too. That means, change engine oil filter.

Thanks for the advice, but I'm way past that level.

Abeg o. For this tinubu era.

No 1 is not an issue now, was an issue when I bought the car. Have done three oil changes since then, more frequent than normal, just to clean the insides of the engine as the previous owner was TERRIBLE with oil changes. Use the right oil weight currently.

Changed the vtc solenoid too, same thing. Vtc strainer was cleaned and returned, so also out.

As for the oil pump timing, I highly doubt this, as the engine is unopened and I have don't have any out of the ordinary vibration. But just to know, what kinds of vibrations will oil pump timing cause?
Maybe like a Love Machine. grin
The balance shaft is on the oil pump and has to be in synchrony with the crank shaft. If it's not, then your engine turns into a vibrator. Any woman in this forum can explain better. grin

How to test a VTC solenoid on 7th Gen accord.
This might work in other cars but I did it on my 2005 Honda Accord 4cyl.

If you want to buy a VTC solenoid but want to be sure it's working before installing it. Unplug the connector from the VTC solenoid on your engine (please leave the existing solenoid in situ). Connect the solenoid you want to test and hold it in place with your hand. Have someone start the car and raise it intermittently to to around 3500rpm. As the engine is raised and dropped, you will see the solenoid open and close smoothly. The more you raise the engine, the more it opens. If it doesn't open and is not smooth, please replace it.

NOTE: Opening and closing when connected to 12v does NOT guarantee smooth operation. It doesn't guarantee it will work smoothly. In the repair manual, Honda made it look like the solenoid is an open or close switch, like on/off switch. In operation, it is NOT. It gradually opens and closes depending on demand. The extent to which it opens depends on what the ECU wants and the solenoid must be able to make these adjustments smoothly or else you get a code.

Note: Make sure there's a solenoid installed right on the engine before starting the engine. That is not the one being tested. It is just there to avoid oil splashing everywhere.
If you want to test the one in your engine before buying, you can only do it on another car because you need a solenoid to block that hole on the engine.

Please as questions if you have any.

It's a bit inverse for me.

Yes, my p0011 always returns, but the engine looks unopened and I don't have a lack of power above 2500 rpm. If anything, the car shoots forward like a bullet once I reach 3000-3500 rpm.

My idle is also butter smooth.

Do you have any ideas about what can be wrong?
This p0011 na witch. I still don't understand it.
But for diagnosis, the list below is the order to follow
1. Engine oil (low, old, or wrong thickness).
2. VTC strainer (blockage by dirt)
3. VTC solenoid (not working)
4. VTC actuator
5. Cam position sensor
6. Oil channels (if you open the VTC actuator and see fresh oil, then your channels are good.
7. Oil pump timing (if off, will cause vibrations as well)
8. ECU

If none of these fails to fix the code, just set the car on fire.

So it's been 1 week now and still no catalyst or O2 sensor codes. I didn't buy new catalyst and no spacer installed.
This method is not for any kazeem cos it involves soldering resistor and capacitor. Even your rewire may not be able to do it tho it's still not hard. I'll post the YouTube video for those interested.

If P0011 always returns, Yes it is locked. You experience lack of power especially above 2500rpm and rough Idle

Nice.
There is a space gazzuzz sells..that one has mini catalyst in it..then you install the 02sensor on it..then install in the catalyst pot..it clears the code fro. Testimonies here.
I bet it will still throw a sensor slow response code l. Since it's no longer in direct contact with flow of hot gases, it will take a bit longer to heat up and Honda will detect that delay. It's not about having a mini catalyst or not.
Have you seen someone that used a spacer on a Honda for a month or longer without a code?
