THE Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation, PDPPCO, yesterday, advised the All Progressives Congress, APC, to stop what it described as its scaremongering and prepare for defeat at the March 28 presidential election.
The Director of Media and Publicity of the PDPPCO, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, said in a statement yesterday, “The recent string of lies by Lai Mohammed, the Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, attempting to link President Goodluck Jonathan with a protest by the Oodua Peoples’ Congress, OPC, in Lagos is more of the same pattern of falsehood and scaremongering that the APC and its Publicity Secretary have made their trademark. We advise the APC to stop peddling falsehood and scaremongering and to prepare for defeat at the March 28 presidential election.
“Nigerians know very well that this is not the first time that the APC is embarking on spreading lies in the hope of inciting the people against the PDP and President Jonathan. The lies of Lai Mohammed and the APC have never achieved their nefarious objectives and once again their falsehood shall fail. Since the APC covers itself in a cloak of darkness and falsehood, the party must invent a new lie every single day rather than admit that it has no answer to President Jonathan’s achievements in agriculture, aviation, education, roads, railways, industrialisation, women and youth empowerment and other areas. The APC prefers to resort to peddling falsehood rather than engaging in an issues-based campaign.

“Now that Lagosians are at last realising the level of sleaze and insurmountable greed among the APC leaders in the state, Lai Mohammed and his handlers are panicking because they know their chances of cornering the market on the golden goose which they have fleeced for the past sixteen years are dimming. This is the single reason why Lai Mohammed and the APC have resorted to their age-old and outdated strategy of firing off a new statement of falsehood every single day in the hope of distracting Lagosians and Nigerians at large from the key issues at stake in this election.
“For the avoidance of doubt, many Nigerians are today questioning the wisdom of allowing the APC, a party that has superintended over an unimaginable level of outright theft of public funds and usurpation and conversion of Government properties for personal use in Lagos State, anywhere near control of the Federal Government. As the elections draw closer and Lai Mohammed and his APC masters have become fully aware that there is a real possibility of their losing Lagos State at the forthcoming presidential and gubernatorial elections. As we draw nearer to the d-day of March 28 we predict that they will issue more baseless and untruthful press statements and falsehood against the PDP and President Jonathan.
“We advise Nigerians to dismiss their childish and pathetic allegations and the sheer rubbish that is being disseminated by the APC. What we are witnessing from them are the frantic gasps of a failed political party that realises that it is about to face a crushing defeat and setback that will send it out of existence. By the time this is all over, the APC will be dumped and forgotten in the dustbin of Nigerian political history”

The All Progressives Congress in Ekiti State has accused wife of the President, Mrs. Patience Jonathan, of making empty promises to the people without stating cogent achievements of her husband in the state. 

The President’s wife spoke in Ado Ekiti, on Monday, during the rally of the women’s wing of the Peoples Democratic Party.

In a statement by the State Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatubosun, on Tuesday, the party noted that her speech lacked the grace of a First Lady.

Olatubosun said, “Throughout her speech, she manifested an image of a village masquerade providing a momentary comic relief to a poverty-ravaged community not in a hurry for socio-economic salvation.

“You would have thought that the First Lady would list her husband’s achievements in Ekiti State and  then give the people some hope that her husband would build upon those achievements, but she engaged in a duet with her host and soul mate, Governor Ayo Fayose, in an empty campaign comedy to a thoroughly dazed enlightened Ekiti people.

“It was a perfect duet by two comedians that one does not need any counsel‎ that Nigeria must be rescued from the captivity of the costumed ‘people of power’ without responsibility.”

 The APC also flayed Mrs. Jonathan for relentless attack on the APC presidential candidate, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).

“She was consistent‎ly painting Buhari a man that would herd Nigerians into jail without committing any crime whereas Buhari only insisted that criminals during his coming administration would go to jail.

“She said she was not ready to prepare food for Fayose in jail‎. Inadvertently, Mrs Jonathan was telling Nigerians ‎that Fayose is a candidate for the prison if Buhari wins.”

 Olatubosun challenged the president’s wife to tell Ekiti people the benefits of SURE-P ‎she flaunted at the rally, saying the programme was just a bazaar for a few selfish party leaders without any benefit for the entire citizenry.

He also faulted her claim that women were appointed into government positions in Ekiti State by Fayose, saying this was a clear case of falsehood, which had become synonymous with Jonathan’s administration.

“Fayose has a four-man cabinet running his government. Apart from the Secretary to the State Government, where are the other women Fayose has appointed?

“Mrs. Jonathan only came to Ekiti to entertain in a political theatre full of deceits and false props constructed by Fayose for maximum personal profits,” Olatubosun explained.

Stressing that Ekiti people had made up their minds to vote Buhari, he added that ‎they had become wiser and would not vote a regime that did not hold any promise for their future.

LAGOS—LAGOS STATE governorship candidate of the National Conscience Party, NCP, Comrade Ayodele Akele, is not happy with the huge cost of governance in the state, which he said is hampering delivery of democracy dividends and abolition of poverty, the motto of his party.
Specifically, he is piqued by the huge severance package and pension scheme of the governor and deputy governor, and has vowed to abolish it, if elected because it is scandalous and cannot be sustained.
Apart from the Lagos State Governor and Deputy Governor Pension Law of 2007, Akele said another package has been worked out for the Speaker and Deputy Speaker.
Speaking at a news conference in Lagos, Akele said: ‘’Lagosians must know this; the obnoxious law, in its original form as provided for the former Governors and Deputy Governors is a criminal and scandalous legacy in the greedy expropriation of the scarce resources of Lagos State.
Specifically, this unprecedented and indeed most lucrative pension in the world under ‘progressive’ APC Lagos state provide for payment of pensions and other fringe benefits to former Lagos state Governor and Deputy Governor in Lagos state details the provision of stupendous money and other benefits that ensure a perpetual though undeserved life of luxury for former governor and deputy governor on the bills and resources of Lagos state sadly in midst of abject poverty among Lagosians.
‘’Lagosians must therefore shine their eyes and see the highlight of what a former Governor and Deputy Governor are scheduled to earn for life after just eight years of service… Former governor is entitled to six new cars every three years and a house in Lagos and another in Abuja. A house in Lagos will cost N500 million and Abuja N700 million.
