PrinceAdeAde:
This is not a myth. I know this for a fact that at least from a UK VO that they have yearly quota per country and when they reach that quota, they only grant for exceptional cases so I belive this approach is taken by US and other countries
And come to think of it, it is a very scientific way as you cannot keep it open ended as each nation has to control the limit of immigrant(be it temporary or permanent)
Let me chip in at this point that the information given to you by whoever the UK VO you met is by all means FALSE! it very well is a myth...

The padlock was broken and my bag was well searched and a paper was dropped that my bag was randomly picked and broken to be searched. While they took responsibility and apologise for that, the statement said they wouldn't be responsible for any item missing. I was annoyed ......

Baba baby, Thank God nothing was stolen. So these people no longer think scanners and sniffer dogs r okay to spot exhibitshuh

If someone asks you how you knew of so and so dr or hospital at the point of entry,Is it not better to say,I did my research than saying i got it from nairaland.

VirtousDiva infact you have hit the nail on the head cos ive been trying to hold back my comment on the Nairaland calling portion of that comment; haba people lets not put the searchlites on a forum that should be ''our thing''.......... so far this forum has helped tonnes of people........ These contacts you get hear did not fall from the skies o someone somewhere bothered enough to research it out.

I am not comfortable with the passport number they are asking for o. Let her write to Lagos embassy biko. I wrote to lAgos embassy and they didn't ask for my passport number

Without her passport number i believe updates may not be properly made on her visa, its a risk i think is wise to take especially in this time of POE returns and cruelty. God help us all.

Tvegas you need to think before writing not just post whatever comes to your mind. First, did you not read that I am sick and will write the poe story later? Second, you think every poe story can be summarised into 4 lines?

Sister abeg don't be bitter the man actually apologised at the end of his post.kindly reserve the energy and the emotion and find time to share your POE experience . Epele.

God mrn house...pls those of us using doctor fagbohun...I contacted him yst via email and he replied me with an attachment of the cost of each services..and also included some lab test that has to be done..I asked him if its necessary to do all d lab test before getting an appointment as I will be applying by Dec and I don't think I can do those tests at once cos each has stages..
He replied back ......"""Kindly bring your results with you at your first visit.  No prepayments accepted and appointments are made after arrival in Houston.  All you need for the embassy and POE are copies of our email communications, the attachment and your funds in cash.""""""
Am now a bit confused cos I read here that 3 things from d doc re very important wen going for interview..appointment letter, letter of responsibility and email correspondence ...
Now he stated I will need only the email conversations..pls those that av been to d embassy say something

Madam the Dr hasn't told you anything wrong. Print out the outline of payments expected that he sent to you as well as your correspondence with him; that is very sufficient for your application.

Normanicole kindly go thru this thread to get the answers you seek. Have a plain sheet of paper and a pen with you. If you can go through even the first to 26th pages of this thread or read back from the last 10 you would be a consultant!

[quote author=Phema post=27356551]Definitely! All the CBP Officers will be interested in is whether your visa is still valid at the time you get to the POE. This means you can even travel a day to the expiration of your visa. They will stamp you in for the lenght of time needed to do what ever you stated you were coming to the US to do notwithstanding when your visa expires. Gerrit?

Phema u are not quite right o.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by MadameU: 12:52pm On Oct 22, 2014
Does this mean I don't have to renew my visa that expires in February before I leave in January?

Madam, this decision is totally yours. I had earlier advised. its your body, budget and all.. you know when your EDD is and how long you intend to stay in the US before and after delivery. If all of those would be before your Visa expires then fine if not ......

TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by MadameU: 9:58am On Oct 22, 2014
A visa does not entitle you to entrance to the United States-it simply entitles you to arrive at a port-of-entry to the United States and apply for admission to an officer of the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) unit on duty there. (They signify admitting you to the U.S. by stamping your passport with an entrance date.)

Likewise, your visa's expiration date does not signify the date your presence in the United States must end-it merely shows the last date you may use your visa to apply for admission to the United States at a port-of-entry. If the CBP officer chooses to admit you to the U.S., he or she will also tell you how long you are entitled to stay for-this may be a date, or this may be simply for "duration of status"

So, as you see, your visa as it stands is perfectly fine for travel-it is only saying you must arrive and apply for entrance to the U.S. before April 18, 2015. The date you must leave the U.S. by is the decision of the CBP officer on duty when you arrive.

Please note that there is no legal requirement to inform us that you are seeking to give birth in the United States. The Customs and Border Protection, a branch of USCIS, determines a traveler's eligibility of entry to the U.S, you should be prepared to demonstrate to the immigration officer at the port of entry why you are seeking medical treatment and that you have logistical and financial plans for the treatment.

We recommend that you review the regulations on non-immigrant aliens entering the United States for purposes of childbirth at https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/882/~/visit-the-u.s.-while-pregnant-and-the-risks-involvedand plan accordingly. Please you should not stay in the U.S. longer than you are permitted by Customs and Border Protection at the port of entry. The Department of Homeland Security at the port of entry will determine your eligibility to enter the United States on any travel.

If you choose to give birth in the U.S., we advise you to bring evidence of payment, both when you enter the U.S. on this visit, and at your future U.S. visa interviews.

This is very much in order and even gives more info on what to do which i had earlier adviced furthermore we all have to go fully armed ie. carrying all documents (genuine) and evidence along also presenting them gracefully and confidently at POE.

Hi does anybody know of a good obgyn in pearland? Pls refer me thanks

Sorry I don't have a ready answer for you but just in case no one has used a Doctor in pearland i think you could do a little research using google, health grades, zocdoc and the post code of where you would be staying there to get the closest hospitals, Obygyns and their costs. You would also have to call doctors offices to get quotes and book appointments.

Please am looking at giving birth in new york, my edd is first week of march 2015 while my visa would xpire on 18 april. would i be able to enter us with the visa or do i need to renew? Kindly advise.

Kindly do yourself the favour of reapplying so you don't have to be under excessive pressure just after birth.that is if you would not have issues at POE for starters using a visa thats at verge of being invalid/ expired...

If you got your visa way before you got pregnant and wrote to the embasy, he can apply ASAP.

Just didn't want that discrepancy of one stating she's going ALONE for birthing (and even claiming the hubby will be too busy at that time to accompany her), only for the hubby to come applying few weeks later. They might feel that wifey wasn't very honest during her interview. Its just better to play safe..

But you can always say at the interview or write back to the embassy informing them that the initial decision was for you to ho alone however circumstances surrounding your job or stuff have changed and your husband will be accompanying you or will come when you have the baby to see u guys and bring u home.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by MadameU: 11:10pm On Oct 18, 2014
Thanks madameU...do you mean appointment date as per at the embassy? I got mine in Lagos (about a year ago) in like 2 days. Does it take time like that?

Times differ, you never know how soon or otherwise your appointment may end up being. So it's wise to get cracking and get the whole thing done with. And in the event (hopefully not) of a refusal there should get enough time to reapply....

Hello folks, I have a question this fine Saturday evening...

My husband does not have a US visa, and wants to apply, reason being to witness the birth of his child. His travel History - UK multiple times, and Dubai.

My concern is that, should he apply after I successfully land in the US (I will be travelling mid-Dec to Houston)?

Or should he apply now? i.e does it matter. In my mind, I feel he should apply after I get there but he thinks he can apply any time.

Decided to throw it to the house for your candid advice and useful wisdom as usual (no be washing grin )

You can get him to apply anytime. It doesn't matter but personaly I would say its Preferably now.... So you get an appointment date that may not be way after your edd..

[quote author=tenic09 post=27251112]Pls dear mamas in the house...dis thread is meant to be helpful and I think that is why we re all here...we thank and appreciate those mamas that has been giving vital info and am sure it has helped a lot of pple like me...but its getting to a point whereby one get scared to ask question...pls let's be calm with each others and I think if some pple find it difficult to read and ask repeated questions...d best thing is to ignore if u can't answer or refer d person to a page if u can, rather than all dis gururu and epa things..its sounds like jest to me" if u ignore a question or answer by saying "read all over"..its ok
And for d person dat said she was sent back and her visa was cancelled...we shld av at least let her explain her own part and if its same with all d lies dats leads to refusal...pple can keep reading and learning from pple like her..
A proffessional today was once a learner and YES that's it..let's give room to be friendly with ourselves cos we might need help from someone outta here and we don't knw who dat cld be...thankx all...I stand to be corrected if dere is need for it...

Bros there are no professionals here in this matter, people have paid the price by doing loads of research, sent dozens of e mails, made calls and have had to read, if anyone is serious minded enough it would only be wise to say that you should be ready to make some form of sacrifice by reading through the thread no matter how lengthy, taking notes and coming up with informed questions.... No one that has gone through this thread would say it isn't informative enough at least for starters....... For now I'm holding on to my bottle of Pepsi with my bowl of groundnuts and watching .......
