[quote author=Nita2013 post=27065124]Hello all, pls new update as regards baby's US passport in phoenix. If u intend to go to Tucson for ur baby's US passport and ur hubby won't be with u, pls be aware that they don't accept just any notarized consent again in Tucson oh. D consent must be notarized by d US embassy. Thus this can only be done after d birth of d child.

Someone went there last Monday and they collected all her documents but refused to issue d passport. This they said is been done cos they noticed some fraudulent things been done as per d consent letter.

They went further to state that the embassy in naija would have to send d consent form via email or fax to them. They gave d lady that went d email address and a number to call afterwards and told her once they receive it, they would process d passport

Pls note that this is applicable to Tucson passport center as post office still accepts any notarised consent form.

Thanks for this piece of info Nita .how's the baby? Trust Naija world people to go and block the way for others....hiss ..............
people can't just stick to instructions and do the honourable thing. I can imagine they must have found several fraudulently altered letters of consent.

[quote author=shelly23 post=26622740]I normally use Tmobile when I'm in the US. I've had the SIM for about The prepaid plan I get is $60 per month and it gives 5G data I think which usually covers my bb. Also if there's wifi where you're staying, that will also work for your BlackBerry and you might not need up to 5G data.
I say do a Google search to see if there are other local carriers in the Phoenix area besides Tmobile.

Thanks a lot.

tenic09:
Tnx......I was even told changing my name in abuja now might take close to 4_5 month before I can get d new passport cos of the new policy...am afraid that is not wat I want now cos I don't want anything to affect the application...if only I can be rest assured that I will get the passport before december so every thing can go inline with my time..
I also called an immigration officer today if its possible for me to renew my passport now since its still next year feb before it expires and he told me definitely...thinking maybe I shld still leave tthe change of name for now since someone here said it doesn't matter if myself and hubby av same name or not just backing it up with enough evidence..
My question now is "does it show to dem at the embassy which status one belong on the passport or they don't know since its not written on the passport cos its called E Passport( I.E Miss or Mrs)
Use whatever passport you have now no body will refuse you cos of your name, just have documents to back your claims, wedding photos, marriage cert and all. No one in the embassy cares if or not you are married so long as you have GENUINE docs to support your claims. And it's no crime to have a valid visa on an expired passport, once your passport expires just get a new one, attach the one with the valid visa and travel with both in hand.

[quote author=Phema post=/post/26821228]You could have just called me out, you know. . . undecided

So telling people to read is an insult? Even if that is the solution to their problems? You think anyone here has got time? You think people here just lay around waiting for people to come ask same questions all over again? Most people here are mothers and fathers who have a life outside Nairaland, but we still make out time for things that are important to us. If this is truly important to anyone, he would read! Then he will be better equipped and can even help other people.

When you are done with the basics, you can then ask some specific questions and it will be easier to help. How does one start helping someone that says "I want to have a baby in the US, what are the procedures". That means he wants us to repeat the whole 168 pages all over again? Ain't we meant to be moving forward?

Anyways, I've given my own solution to the poster's problem. If you think that is "stylishly insulting people", please give yours. kiss

Phema my sister oya chop kiss! if anyone truly is serious then they would take out time to read and see what the whole thread is about....how can you make informed decisions especially about life changing stuff; if you do not take out time to research and view the pros and cons.....

Phema: ^^^ Are you kidding me?!? Jisos!!!

So, these people can stoop so low in the name of marketing?? Trying to spoil another's business? Come on! Doctores Para Ti have got enough clients already na. Why the overly aggresive marketing?? Very very appauling and unethical!

Tells so so much about them! #pissed

f![quote author=Phema]Did you notice how quickly the useless agent debunked your interview story with her overly "sweet" one? I remember you asked him to give details of his interview and he went into hiding. When Justwise hides their posts or bans them, we say he's being too strict. But he clearly knows what he is doing!
I still donot have any problems with their services though as some trusted people have recommended them. What I don't get is their aggressive marketing. Downgrading another hospital just because of your selfish Interest? I mean, how low can people get? You will be surprised the Organisation itself might not even be aware of these crooks.
Now, it will be difficult to believe any story/testimony from Doctores Para Ti. And if they continue that way, one thing is sure; they will lose their Clientele!
[quote author=pattyreal]Haba! Y d lies. Thank God 4 Tvegas dat xposed u. Ur kind r d ones dat spoil tins 4 oda pple. Justwise where r u oooo?
GenoMI: Ah ahn, infact I just went back and read all the posters 7 posts, and all have been some form of subtle marketing for Doctores. These are the things that make people like @justwise ANGRY!!!
Tvegas: Just leave them, they should keep at it. If things continue this way, i will find a way to petition the US EMBASSY about their desperation because Medical issues are not things you should play falsehood with.
I dey look dey laugh! Agents ehn wetin una go cause......... What a shame sha

My people don't get it twisted o, some of us looking out for safe areas have no issues with staying in crossland or extended stay east oak or built more, these places have rates that are alarming that's why we are trying to seek out other safe but cheaper options. For the period some of us intend to be in phoenix the bills for crossland and extended stay is as high as 3000-5000 dollars. And I bet most NL that went before now paid a max of 1900 for 60days and above .

akelvin: I got some so all depending on ur budget n preferences.but nice apartments mostly in chandelier based on advise of pple around on d areas n safe neighborhood.dnt knw if I can list all but will list d ones I can so u check out on d internet n we went there so 'twas cool.there is d chandler meadows apartment with furnished one bed for $1020 all inclusive, biscaynebay chandelier for$1070.83 dats plus utilities,Alante at d island for $901 all inclusive but not furnished but d furnished one goes for 1500 but we were advised to pick a non furnished one n rent d furnitures dat way is cheaper,we got a furniture company dat furnishes d bedroom, dinning, sitting room for $179 so is cheaper than taking a furnished apartment d name of d rental company is Cort u can check them out.note all I listed r one bedroom.i checked a lot anyone I remember again will put it up.there is one I saw in Gilbert really really nice goes for $959 but when every was added it went up to1159 but really cool d name is highland groves at Morrison ranch u can check it out.but note all these I listed d kitchens r fully equipped n laundry facilities also in each apartment.
U can also check AZ furnished apartments.com so u can select from four different areas if u want a furnished apartment.but NOTE d prices may differ if u r renting a short stay like three months they usually add premium charges added.thats y d ones I went to dat I gave u I was saying all inclusive so this AZ u can call to confirm n tell them ur duration.
But u can get cheaper apartments for $750-800 for a one bed not furnished then rent ur furnitures for $179 I think dat is nt bad.

oawele: These apartments are not extended stay per say, they are houses for rent. You can get some from estate agents websites. Some of these apartment don't need you to have a SSN or be a citizen of US, but you have to be careful who you deal with and you need to research the area well to ascertain that it suits you.

Note that if you are coming alone and would need all the help, you should get places like crossroad where a lot nairalander tend to stay and help each other.

I will post som sites that estate mangers or landlands advertise apartments for rent but you need to research just the same way you research for hospital. ‘it can be difficult but I was lucky to get one quite easily with the help of a friend.
I understand your point, I personally have tried out some apartments which aren't extended stays I have only heard from one of them, knowing the particular region with good neighbourhoods and access to bus line and closeby shopping is what I'm particular about @this point.I see tempe, chandler, mesa, scottsdale etc that's y a referral of some sort would help.thanks

oawele: My people, how you all doing? We are back to 9ja and settling down quite nicely with our twins.

I will just try to run down a short summary on how our stay in Arizona went.

Wifey, daughter and MIL left for phoenix at 32weeks 5days via houston using united. At the POE, wifey went with all neccesary documents including cash more than 10K dollars which she declared, the intrestingg part is that it kind of caused some distraction and they didn't bother to ask for any other document rather they sent her to another room where they were more concerned about why she hasd above 10K dolls. Immediately, she told them she wanted to use it for hospital bills they just stamped her and let her go. ( I think that is a tip).

We
rented an apartment that was was quite far from MIHS (almost 2hour by bus and 20mins by car). The place was very nice with all the amenities a home should have, paid 1K dolls a month. The apartment had three balconies, swimming pool down stairs and had 3 big malls with most of the major outlets and stores in it. These malls are a stone throw away. We did not mind the distance cause in phoenix you can buy a day pass which can enable you ride all buses for the day for 4dollars ( from circle K store) . So we leave early for appointment and use a cab if we are late or in an emergency. Note that we rarely used the cab. ( tip : do not narrow your search for accomodation to places close to the hospital, there are places that are spacious, very nice and cosy for even less cost, the only challenge would be the distace and this can be overcome by leaving for appoinment well in time with bus).

As I mentioned in my previous post, MIHS is a good hospital and I liked their professional services. All you need to take to the hospital when going for delivery is what you will wear when you are discharged and your baby car seat which you can purchase at the hospital for 30 dolls, every other thing will be given to you at the hospital. Gifts inclusive will be given to you.

After getting your baby's birth cert at vitals office and passport at Tucson, youi can apply for your child's Nigerian visa yourself, just follow the guidelines on Nigerian immigration website and you should be good to go.

Finally, I want to thank God and every one that has helped me, from fabulousmum to Chima to Oyema to Seun to ada to all of you, can't remember all your names now. Thanks a lot.

Let me mention that a lot people eventually have issues at POE and are actually deported while some have complications during child birth and have escalated bills running into thousands of dollars and don't come back here to mention it. (Tip : pray to God for Favour and safe delivery with no complication and do not be carried away by the many sucessful stories here)

I am very available if any body needs my help or needs me to throw more light on any aspect of my experience.

One love
