Suspected herdsmen kidnap, kill Ondo butchers tricked to buy cows

suspected to be Fulani herdsmen in the agrarian community of Ajadusi, Ala, in the Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The bandits were said to have stormed the town on Monday, shooting continuously before kidnapping the victims.

A source explained that four butchers had received a call from one of the hoodlums, who invited them to the town to buy cows.

They were, however, attacked.

While one of the victims escaped with injuries, the whereabouts of the other three was initially unknown.

During a search for the three victims, the bodies of two of them were found in the forest.

The third victim was reported to have been kidnapped by the herdsmen.

The escaped butcher, Nasiru Jamiu, who is still receiving treatment in a hospital, said the herdsmen lured them into the bush to abduct them.

He said, “One of the Fulani people that sell cows to my boss called him to come and buy cows. He (the Fulani) had been selling cows to him before this time; they had been transacting business together for a long time.

Two butchers have been killed by gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen in the agrarian community of Ajadusi, Ala, in the Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.

“After calling my boss, we first went to the place on Saturday; it was a long journey. My boss asked us to turn back that he did not feel like going further. The guy kept disturbing him and convinced him that they would bring the cows to a nearby village.

“So, when he called yesterday (Monday), he told us that some people would come and meet us at Ala town so that we would proceed to where the cows were kept. On getting to Ala, they took us to where the cows were and asked us to park our vehicles so that they could move the cows to the main road.

“As they entered into the bush, four of us waited beside the vehicles. Surprisingly, they returned with guns and started shooting into the air. They kidnapped my boss. The three of us left tried to run for our lives; as I was trying to move, they cut me with a machete. I fell and pretended as if I was dead.

“When I realised that they had left, I stood up and ran around the bush. It was only my boss I saw that they kidnapped, but the other two of us, we still don’t know their whereabouts till now. Maybe they later kidnapped them too, we are not certain.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami, who confirmed the incident and the death of the two butchers, said men of the command were already in the forest to rescue the remaining victim.

Wisdomkosi:
2023 Presidency : I'm Still Waiting For Divine Directives Before I Will Heed The Clarion Call - Gov. Umahi

By Wisdom Nwedene

Governor David Nweze Umahi of Ebonyi State has said that he did not authorise campaign posters on smart phones bearing his name and picture with the inscription “Engr. David Nweze Umahi for president 2023” which has been trending.

In a statement made available to IGBERE TV by Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr Francis Nwaze said Governor Umahi is a strong believer in the Divine Mandate of God and would wait on the Lord for divine directives and unless and until he is divinely inspired to vie for the Presidency, he wouldn't heed the clarion call.

The statement added that the Governor is presently occupied with delivering dividends of democracy to the good people of Ebonyi State, transforming the state in agreement with his five covenants with God as well as repositioning Southeast and contributing his quota as at when needed in the nation-building.

The statement reads,

The Governor of Ebonyi State has observed with keenness, campaign posters on smart phones bearing his name and picture with the inscription “Engr. David Nweze Umahi for president 2023” and widely circulated on various Social Media platforms and online Television Stations, as well as strategic locations across the country, and I, elect to make the following clarifications:

1. That His Excellency the Governor did not authorize such campaigns on his behalf, however, the Governor understands that the move may be in good faith, a show of solidarity and true belief in the experience and ingenuity of His Excellency to highly contribute in the development of our dear nation - Nigeria.

2. That His Excellency, being a respecter of constituted authorities could not have launched such full-scale campaign into the office of the President even when the electoral umpire is yet to open the window for such exercise.

3. That His Excellency as a strong believer in the Divine Mandate of God would wait on the Lord for divine directives and unless and until he is divinely inspired to vie for the Presidency, he wouldn't heed the clarion call.

4. That the Governor is presently occupied with delivering dividends of democracy to the good people of Ebonyi State, transforming the state in agreement with his five covenants with God as well as repositioning Southeast and contributing his quota as at when needed in the nation-building.

MANDIPUTIN:
There was tension in Etekuru, in the Ohaji Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State on Wednesday when soldiers and youths in the community clashed.

Our correspondent gathered that a soldier had earlier been ambushed and killed, while his rifle was stolen.

In a reprisal, soldiers invaded the community and burnt houses.

The fight came two weeks after soldiers clashed with youths of Izombe, in the Oguta Local Government Area of the state.

The attack led to the death of three persons, including two military men, and burning of tens of houses in the community.

The latest development caused tension in the community, making many flee their houses.

A spokesperson for 34 Artillery Brigade Command, Obinze, Owerri, Joseph Akuga, did not take his phone, which rang out.

He had also yet to respond to a text message sent to him as of the time of filing this report

PoliticsRe: Endsars : The Ignorance Of The Igbo Youth On Full Display. by madmohamed(m): 10:47am On Oct 20, 2021
SlayerForever:
Today marks the remembrance of the endsars Lekki massacre where soldiers opened fire on Nigerian youths protesting for a scrap and/or disbandment of a killer cop unit, the Special Anti Robbery Squad, SARS that had hitherto been involved in widespread extra judicial practices steeped in human rights abuses including forceful disappearance, extortion, maiming, abduction, theft, arbitrary arrests, murder etc etc.

Today a number of youths across the country remember those who were killed and maimed at Lekki toll gate, main venue of the protests, exactly a year ago. Of interest to the writer is the trend among the Igbo youths to wrongly identify with the endsars movement.

Our people say that "the man who does not know where the rain started beating him will not know where it will end". Another saying amongst our people goes thus "if you do not know where you're going, at least know where you're coming from". The Igbo youths, especially those who are mainly resident outside the South East have shown with this endsars memorial that they are clueless as to where they are coming from.

At this time let me bring to your notice a vital piece of information many have forgotten or even ignorantly overlooked. As the endsars global movement raged across Nigeria about time last year it refused to ignite in the South East. Weeks went by and there was no rally or protest or recognition of the movement in the East. The reader who does not know this may ask why.

To those Igbo youths mostly outside the South east who naively identify with the endsars movement and put up the disgusting flag of the forest republic of Nigeria how many memorials have you had for the thousands of our youths and parents who have had their lives cut short by not just SARS but by every military and paramilitary body in the country. How many memorials have you had for them. How many times have you written or spoken up against the wanton extra judicial killings of innocent people by security operatives in the East. How many memorials have your colleagues from other parts of Nigeria had for Igbo youths and parents, too many to count, who have been killed extra judicially since the 70s by units of the police force, the army etc etc. How many times has police brutality on innocent Easterners made the news outside the South East. Answer this questions to yourself in all frankness and honesty. How many times have you remembered those who have been widowed, those who have been rendered orphans by security operatives. How many times have you spoken up for them.

Today, you spit on their graves by putting up a flag that has decimated thousands of innocent people in your home land. Not to make light the incidence at Lekki which stands condemned any day, but that incidence pales greatly in comparison to the accounts of police brutality in the East.

And this is what many in the south east knew and felt that made a global movement like endsars go almost unnoticed in the east. It stood as hypocritical to many, for Nigerians to suddenly wake up to police brutality and yet expect them in the South East who have been suffering it for decades with no one to listen to them, to suddenly join in. On behalf of South Easterners and Igbo people in general I asked some influential endsars conveners who kept taunting the south east to join the movement last year. I asked them, where were your voices? All went mute. They had no answer.

What I observed is that many rushed to identify with the endsars movement so as to look politically correct to their colleagues from other parts of Nigeria. They told me last year, ehn let us come together since the movement is fostering unity. You don't seek unity by selling yourself short. True unity is attained by ensuring there is equity across board. If endsars was equitable why did the conveners or the movement not hit on police brutality in the East. That would have been equity and true oneness.

To show you that your endsars movement was shallow how many times did you see other Nigerians you're trying desperately to identify with speak against police killings in the east. Even asides endsars have you ever seen Nigerians talk about police brutality against Igbos at home? Your answer is as good as mine. Yet you struggle to identify with people who do not identify with your plight or your reality. Not once during the global endsars movement last year was police brutality in the east brought to the front burner. But here you are talking about endsars. Are you doing right by your people at home? Or you think the world starts and ends in Lagos.

How can you identify with an endsars movement that would see changes in the police modus operandi but your home where police brutality walks on two legs was never mentioned. How?

Umu Igbo chuwanu amamihe maka amamihe amaka. Ụnu adizina iberibe.

I will end by repeating this adage, "if you do not know where you are going, at least know where you're coming from". Daalu nu.
you talk true I don't understand my people sometimes. We are kill every day no body identify whit us.

I expect small package from Biafrans as well to these ex soldiers, we stand on Refendum and if we must part, it should be based on mutual understanding and friendship, no one pointed a gun at anyones head to join Nigeria so it should be settled on the round table, you would let the Nigerians amend their ways even if it too late, that's the only way we can get a genuine Refendum and not a protest vote

*****IGBO WILL NEVER BE PRESIDENT AFTER BUHARI UNLESS HE DIES.

From the look of things Igbo wanted the presidency so badly in which there are conspicuous and underground works going including secession blackmail by ohanneze and other "notice me" groups, but instead of these getting them closer to their desire it is throwing them far away.

From the inception of Buhari tenure he has shown disdain for igbos by referring to them as 5% not that only, he has tried every possible way to keep them at bay from his government, the few igbos that are part of his government were given post that could affect his government, he never gave them key positions as not to cause problem for him, he knew they might want to betray him or work against, it also shows in his recent comment where referred to them as dots in a circle and he threatened to give them 1967 to 1970 treatment.

After all these things that have been done and said, Buhari will rather die than allow any Igbo hold the highest position of power after because they might try to investigate him and cause him problems.

ogododo:
The incident happened on a road leading to Gusau between Kucheri and Wanzamai in the Tsafe Local Government Area of the state.

Some soldiers were feared killed on Wednesday while trying to repel an attack by bandits on travellers in Zamfara State.

The incident happened on a road leading to Gusau between Kucheri and Wanzamai in the Tsafe Local Government Area of the state.

Witnesses told Premium Times that many motorists were also abducted by the bandits.

A lecturer at the Federal University Gusau, Maryam Gatawa, who narrowly escaped abduction during the incident, said the attack lasted for more than 30 minutes.

“They had just finished abducting people when our vehicle arrived. I saw people in the villages running from their homes to safety,” Mrs Gatawa said.

She added that some soldiers were killed while trying to repel the attack.

The bandits reportedly abducted many motorists and whisked away guns and ammunition belonging to soldiers.

Another resident, identified as Abubakar Bala Tsafe, also confirmed the attack to journalists.

He said, “I heard that they blocked the Wanzamai – Kucheri Road and killed soldiers. The attack took place around 2:45 pm and they (bandits) were said to have closed the road to ensure that security personnel did not come to the rescue of the motorists or villagers being attacked."

A motorist said “around 2-3 pm this afternoon, on my way from Abuja to Gusau, immediately after Yankara in Katsina, we met a closed road being manned by some security personnel. We later found out that there was an attack on soldiers on the road by bandits who were said to be operating on the road.”

He noted further that he helped police officers to evacuate the corpses of the soldiers.

The state police spokesperson, Mohammed Shehu did not respond to calls and SMS sent to him to get his comment on the attack.

Zamfara a North-west state, is one of the states currently under constant attacks by bandits.

Security measures including a shutdown of mobile phone services and curfew have been taken by the government to curb insecurity in the area.

GOV. Uzodimma To Commence Project Reconstruct Izombe, Offer Compensation To Affected Homes

By Collins Ughalaa KSC

Governor Hope Uzodimma on Tuesday said he would soon commence Project Reconstruct Izombe, which would see to the reconstruction of buildings and livelihoods destroyed during the mayhem that rocked the community last Friday.

The Governor disclosed this on his timeline after his visit to Izombe and meeting with strategic stakeholders where he preached peace and promised to end hostilities, and commence reconstruction.

This is even as the Governor tasked the Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ISOPADEC) to quickly dispatch relief to the community.

Writing on his Facebook after the meeting, the Governor reiterated that he was saddened by the development, stressing that he would constitute a committee to commence the Project Reconstruct Izombe.

He said: "In few days to come, I shall constitute a bilateral committee that would comprise of Government Officials and the Leadership of the Community to fashion out modalities to commence a project 'reconstruct Izombe' and offer compensation to the affected homes".

The Governor added: "I am saddened at the gory sight of destroyed properties and the loss lives of innocent citizens of Izombe Community in Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State, as a result of the recklessness of few bandits who have chosen to foment mayhem without recourse to morality.

"In the wake of this crisis, I called on the military to sheathe their sword and allow the innocents to enjoy their peace while the Government intervenes and today, during my interaction with the Traditional Rulers and the good people of Izombe Community, I admonished the Youths of Izombe from taking to arms as a means of livelihood let alone attacking constituted authorities.

"While it's quite disheartening that the innocents had to bear the consequences that arose from the actions of a few, I called on the Community Leaders to assist the Government in flushing out these hoodlums as we work towards the restoration of peace, law and order in the community".
I hope this man is not planning to start RUGA I don't know why Fulani and buhari told him to beuld RUGA in oil producing community. What is their motives why uzudimma want to hand oil producing community to Fulani terrorist I don't trust that man.

I advise nndi IMO to be very vigilant about any project start by Uzodimma in that village

That is their plan they want to chase the youth of of the village so they will not have any opposition to tell what is happening in that village.

Uzudimma know what he is doing why he didn't visit other community destroy by Fulani terrorist army why did he visit here
