Chicharito was comfortably benching him even though he just came from Mexico. Berbatov was not an upgrade and was just there. He did not do anything in united. He was our striker record signing yet he did not feature prominently in the Knockout stages of the UCL from 2009 to 2011. Berbatov was a fringe player majority of his united career. The only season he scored decently he was still benched at the crucial point of the season. Front 3 was Chicha Park and Rooney.

He is a skillful player and a joy to watch at times, but he wasn't actually a successful signing. I know exactly what i am saying. That season 2010/11, he was mostly benched by Chicharito, especially in big matches.

Keane did not do better than Ronado in the 21st century, if it was between 1990 to 2000, i will admit. But in the 21st century? No. Ronaldo actually did an unbelievable job when he was here. Only Rooney and Giggs were clearly ahead of him.

Forget the nostalgia merchants and recent TV analysis by Berbatov. He wasn’t really a magnificent success at Man United as many would make it seem. We all watched him. He came in 2008/09 season, struggled heavily and rarely feature in important games, benched most times even though we don't have a major top 9. Our front three was Park, Ronaldo and Rooney that season. The next season he wasnt that fantastic too, Rooney was infact moved to the top 9 position, after Rooney who was having one of his best season that year, got injured against Bayern, he lost several chances in the EPL especially versus Blackburn that made us lose the league title. The next season Fergie bought 20 year old Chicharito from Mexican league, as just a prospect. He benched Berbatov after few games, and he never recovered his starting place again, after the next season were he rarely featured, infact Welbeck ws ahead of him. he was shipped to Fulham and Van Persie was gotten.

So Rashford did much better than Berbetov yes he was a silky player and all that, but wasnt really a success at Man United, infact Tevez performed far better than him.
I will agree for Solskjear over Rashford but not clear especially in the 21st century (2000 till date) Solsjear was injured most times during that period and retired early in 2007. Fletcher I agree he is ahead of Rashford.

The other day you are asking why they even nominated Garnacho for the Kopa trophy. Well it might interest you to know that Yamal the winner of the Kopa trophy had just 16 goal contribution in all competition last season, just 1 more than Garnacho 15 and they both played 50 games each.

This season, Barca got rid of their imconpetent Xavi and see the tremendous output from Yamal. He already has 14 goals contribution (6 goals 8 assists) in 16 games. Yamal will most likely exceed 25 goals contribution if he play up to 50 games this season. Thats the difference and impact a coach can make in a player development.

You are not wondering why a sought after highly rated teenager with excellent performance in the Academy has stagnated and regressed (Much like the rest of the squad anyways). Yours is to be piling on the young man everyday when the manager who's suppose to be his guidance is nowhere to be found and now sacked.

First of all he is an academy graduate. Thoroughbred FA Youth Cup winner. So your statement that he was not an academy graduate was incorrect . Whether you said it to deride the recruitment team or disparage Garnacho, you should not use a false statement to bolster your point.

2nd of all our academy recruitment has actually been one of the best over the past 5 years. It is our player development into the first team that has been lacking.
Kambwala, Mejbri, Garnacho, Jack Fletcher, Harry Amass, Alvaro Fernandez etc were all highly sought after before joining us.

The academy is the one thing I can say Murtough got right as it was in a shambles before he took interest in it.

I don’t remember saying “graduate” because he is obviously a graduate but that’s besides the point
Academy recruitment by Murtough one of the best but barely producing quality players for the first team is also noted and would’ve been a better response rather than choosing to focus on “technicalities” instead of context in reference to Garnacho
