Trauma changes one fundamentally. It's unfortunate but you have to keep doing the healing work for as long as you live.

My own problem is that I feel confused, frustrated, and slightly depressed because I don't know a specific purpose to commit my life to.

I think I can sing.. but should I pursue a music career? I am confused.

I love good writing. Should I pursue a writing career? I don't even know what to write about.

Should I try a tech skill? Video editing, content creation etc I don't think I'm tech savvy enough to make any meaningful progress. Or may be I'm just lazy and unmotivated.

Should I just forget everything and go into buying and selling? What should I sell? How do I raise capital?

So many questions. I feel lost in this world most of the times.

It's hard to imagine life without post traumatic stress disorder. I wonder what that life would have looked like. Sincerely.

I feel the same way too. When depressed people find out that dying is easy and within reach, they will keep deferring it and will choose to make a final attempt at getting better before opting for suicide. Generally speaking, it will have a counter-intuitive effect on the rate of suicide.

What you need first of all is to understand that everything is temporary...including life itself.

You may need therapy and medication if you want.

Then you need to accept Christ and put your entire trust in him. Without Christ we can do nothing..

God can change every bad situation in your life to good.

Also, I recommend you read books that relate to childhood trauma and mental illness. Just google search and you can download some in PDF format. For example: 1. the body keeps the score; 2. the road less travelled; 3. what happened to you. Etc.

I have been dealing with depression and anxiety since I was kid, I was one of those kids that sees my death as my friend, and have accepted it (I still am). I praised those who were brave enough or rather "selfish" enough to break away from this illusion called life but it also hurts because of the pain they'd cause their loved ones. If I did something like that, I'd cause my mother and irreparable pain and that's why I said "selfish."

When someone asks me how I feel, I often say that I am in the default state of mind — sadness. As a human, especially as a man, happiness is not your friend—begin to see sadness as your companion. When it comes over, accept it and then you will be able to face the true reality. Money can not buy permanent happiness. The thirst for happiness has led a lot of people into becoming addicted zombies... they drown sadness with the pills, alcohol, or séx and once those things they depend on are gone, they land back on the rock bottom.

Happiness is not your friend, when you accept this reality — you'll understand that life's too fragile to take such a fleeting emotion like "happiness" serious. My name is SuperOnyi and I have been depressed my whole life and sadness is one of the best friends I ever had.
