I can now see why every Nigerian wants a white collar job in government or in already made private establishments.

Even the ones that travel abroad, all they are satisfied with are their common 8- 5 o'clock jobs, go home, sit behind the internet- jolly and all.

Even with all the so called infrastructures in the West where Nigerians abide- they are so satisfied with the meagre income they get than to spend time using their brains to come up with something to shake the world.

Is it a poor Nigerian mentality issue?

truly:
is or was? were you around in 2007? In a decent society Goodboy Johnathan's mentor - Obj - would have gone to the
other site for proper treason
Anyway, Rawlings should be in jail for reforming Ghana.
Such undesirable things like integrity, having only one face (rather than some creative ability to fabricate text messages), determination to fight corruption in a government (Anenih, Akala, Daniel are in charge, Haliburton case is lurching, floundering, Nwodo's ID card scam sins are erased given his willingness to hound opponents, madam's money laundering case has been patiently fogotten) that can threaten Johnathan's chances are ideas of dinosaurs

To be in touch is for a PhD holder to compile facebook posts and call it a book. I reckon it will soon replace Things Fall Apart as one of the key essential reading in our schools
Even Obj has written some books
What is your definition of a book? Please give a definition not one conjured up explanation. I am beginning to think I didn't go to school because someone is trying to tell us the meaning of a book.

Why do people assume that everyone on Nairaland doesnt know what they are saying? I have been in business in Nigeria since 1997, sustained the business while away from the country for ten years and the business is still up and running till now. So, what else do you want to "assume"?

PoliticsQuestions Mr. Atiku Needs To Answer Urgently. by MaJBlige(op): 2:39pm On Jan 04, 2011

First of all The Atiku i grew up knowing is one who has failed to convince me that 20 years in the Nigerian customs is enough to make somebody a multi-millionaire without being corrupt, not to talk of owning almost every single privatised government property during the first tenure of Obasanjo.

secondly Sir before you left the PDP to contest under AC you were accused of diverting the sum of $125 million dollars of public development funds to your private company and you have not been able to clear the air over that allegation but i guess like you and i know Nigerians have short memories so its easy to forget once we scream wolf and go to court where the case would either be adjourned indefinitely or quashed by some obscure ruling by any judge whose pocket is well lined up enough to see reason(s) why such charges can not hold.

Outside The Nigerian customs you have not done any other gainful employment which we know of but yet you own several firms among which is Intels Nigeria Limited an oil services company which operates in Angola, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon and Sao Tome and Principe and as such during your 8 years as vice president your regime made sure that Nigerians had to queue up to get fuel which we were naturally blessed with just to protect your interest "abi" are you not the same owner of African petroleum?

Thirdly for a man who aspires to rule this great nation not to be able to visit the United state of america on the grounds of fear of corruption charges leveled against him or is the Jefferson/Mody telecommunication case involving the $100.000 case over ?please inform Nigerians we want to know.at least if all was well you wouldn't put your potomac mansion up for sale just because of a simple subpoena.being a case study in America for corruption is enough for anybody to go back there and clear his name but not you rather you decided to relocate your family to Dubai.

so far your names has featured prominently on the following corruption charges involving Halliburton, Daimler, Willbros and Congress man, William Jefferson. As for me, i do not see you as the perfect candidate to rule this country as you have been involved with every single government since 1975 and have benefited very well from each one so you my dear fiend do not have anything good to offer this country except to make us poorer than we already are.

3 Facts about becoming a creative enterpreneur.

Creativity – generating new ideas, evaluating them effectively, taking action to turn them into new products and services.

Collaboration – connecting and working with partners, clients, and other significant players in your network, which will probably be scattered across the globe and contain more ‘virtual’ relationships than face-to-face ones.

Entrepreneurship – identifying opportunities in the marketplace and using business skills to turn ideas into products into profits.

You will wait for good roads before using your head to generate new ideas? No wonder.

You will wait for internet before using your head to generate good ideas?

I am lost here.

For those who genuinely know what I am talking about- not those who read politics of GEJ into every thing, please read here or do a google search on becoming a creative entrepreneur for ideas.

He will make a mess of things:

My reason is that anyone who plans to invest $15 Billion ( Approximately 2 trillion naira) of federal funds into government run industries does not understand Nigeria's problems. See the following FACTS:

#1, It is a historically proven fact that the Federal Government cannot successfully run any profitable organization. I can confidently draw my examples from NITEL, NEPA, FRSC, NNPC, Federal Universities, Federal roads, , endless list

#2, Any organization operated by the Federal Government of Nigeria is bound to be characterized by corruption

#3, Disbursement of allocations on a federal level always results in inefficiencies and waste

#4, Given proper enabling business environment, private organizations will invest their own capital and ensure adequate function and profitability of these necessary organizations

#5, Nigeria is in its current predicament because of these large amounts of money available at the federal level.

Dis Guy:
This business environment is not conducive for for business

what should be a simple process becomes rocket science, if registering a business alone take upto 64days in some case, imagine how long it will take get electricity to a new build or internet connection to a new area
Honestly, speaking, it is not hard registering a business name in Nigeria, neither is it hard getting telephone or internet these days- they are all pay as you go, they are things you can get within two hours if you have your money. It should not be a factor. Maybe electricity, but still people make do with stand by power systems, such as generators, Inverters, solar panels etc- so, these are all overheads factor able and recoverable in your business as time goes on.

But do we all need the above to come up with ideas? Think about the Google guys, the Facebook guys, the PAYPAL guys, the EBAY guys, Mozilla guys, the Microsoft, the Oracle and so many young guys who used their brains to come up with things that are shaking the world.

I think the limit we have is the limit we put on ourselves as human beings.

Does the retail business failure or non existence in Nigeria depends on the capacity of people to buy? or is it due to the fact that the existing ones have so much overhead that makes the cost of items at such malls much more exhorbitant than the genral open stall markets that abounds in those cities? Example, items you will buy in places like Exclusive Stores, Amigos, Grand Square, Abuja Mall, and many more, are marginally more expensive than buying these same items at the open market like Wuse, Garki etc. Many will flood to the open markets but the rich will go to the malls and supermarkets - so. Does this not kill the enthusiasm of retailers and would be retail businesses?

Everyone wants a white collar job- in government or in the private sector. Cool. Most jobs in the west are created by the private sector. Why is this not so in Nigeria? Wht is everyone sitting and hoping to bite from the same apple rather than planting their own and sharing it amongst the lot?

This is sad. Why is the private sector comatose?
PoliticsRe: What Has Atiku Contributed To D Development Of Nigeria With All His Time In Govt by MaJBlige(op): 6:56am On Jan 04, 2011
A day after associates of Alhaji Abubakar Atiku went to court in a bid to stop President Goodluck Jonathan from contesting in the 2011 elections, his own candidacy has also become a subject of judicial battle.

Two-time gubernatorial aspirants in Adamawa and Taraba States, Mr. Bala Takaya and Senator Abdullahi Kirim, respectively yesterday asked  an Abuja High Court sitting in Maitama to issue an order stopping Atiku from contesting in the  presidential primary of the  Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

They are inviting the court to move in their favour on the grounds that  Atiku is disqualified by both the PDP’s constitution and the 1999 constitution to seek election into any elective office in the country on account of his alleged antecedents touching on corruption.

By the fresh timetable released by the secretariat of the ruling PDP last week, the presidential primary is scheduled for January 13, next year.

The two plaintiffs who want Atiku barred from presenting himself for the political party’s primary election alleged that the former vice-president was dismissed from the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) on account of corruption and the findings in February 2010 of the United States of America Senate Permanent Sub-Committee on Investigations/  Committee of Homeland Security and Government Affairs which investigated him on allegations of money laundering and other corrupt practices of some foreign officials in the US which indicted him.

They argued that his dismissal and the recent indictment by the US were enough grounds to disqualify him since both the nation’s constitution and the PDP constitution forbid anybody with such dirty record from contesting election into elective offices.

Besides, the two aggrieved politicians are also seeking a separate court order compelling PDP to probe and  verify the various allegations of dishonest practices including alleged receipt of $2 million bribe from Siemens AG through his wife.

They asked the court to come down heavily on him if found guilty of the allegations.Takaya and Kirim invoked the original jurisdiction of the Abuja court via a writ of summons.

Although the case is yet to be assigned to any judge for hearing, the plaintiffs have, in the interim, filed a motion on notice for an interlocutory injunction restraining the PDP from screening or clearing  Abubakar to contest the PDP’s presidential primary.

They are also asking the court to issue another interlocutory injunction restraining Abubakar from presenting himself for screening or clearance for the presidential primary.

In the suit, only the PDP and Abubakar were named as defendants.Detailing the reasons why they were involving the court to stop Abubakar from contesting the poll in a 31-point affidavit, they said his emergence as a president in the country would draw the nation backward.

For instance, the plaintiffs averred that “between 1969 and 1989, Atiku Abubakar rose to become the Deputy Director of Customs and was dismissed following the findings of a panel of inquiry that recommended his dismissal.

“That in February 2010, the USA Senate Permanent Sub-Committee on Investigation Committee of Homeland Security and Government Affairs carried out investigation on the money laundering and other corrupt practices of some foreign officials in the USA in line with the strict moral code and integrity within which that country operates.

“That the findings of the said Senate Committee showed clearly that Atiku Abubakar was the source of the over 440m dollars brought into the USA over a period of 8 years (2000-2008) through more than 30 accounts and both questioned the nature and source of Atiku’s wealth as well as found that the allegation by the SEC that Ms Douglas received over $2 million in bribe payments from Siemen AG intended part for her husband cannot be dismissed.

“That the report showed how Atiku along with his fourth wife, one Ms Jennifer Douglas Abubakar, an American citizen , engaged in acts which have thoroughly embarrassed Nigeria as a country.

“That Atiku was invited by the Senate Committee for questioning but that he declined the invitation.“That since he was invited for questioning by the said US Senate Committee, he has never set his foot in the USA for fear of being arrested.

"And that Atiku Abubakar’s spouse, Jennifer Douglas-Atiku has also relocated to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates and has not set foot in the USA since she appeared before the US Senate Committee."

Meanwhile, the Atiku Campaign Organisation told THISDAY on phone last night that the case was "ridiculous". A spokesman of the organisation said the court case "is a mockery of judiciary. We know where this is coming from and we are surprised that President Jonathan will lend himself to an abuse of court process.”
Atiku has consistently denied allegations of corruption, insisting that they are politically motivated.
