Christianity EtcFor Christians Alone - Know God Or Go Home (1) by MakeADifference(op): 8:21am On Dec 10, 2016
What is this about?

It is about those places called church and those people called prophets, pastors etc. But more than those places, it is about you. You - my churchgoing friend, my Christian friend.

My church friend let me ask you -

1. Can you really say you know a bit about God?

2. Can you confidently say you read the Bible on your own and understand these words from God?
2b Do you understand the Bible holds enough wisdom and guidance for you even if you live 1000 generations? Do you take from that wisdom for your day to day living?

3. Do you pray by yourself - as worship? Is praying a regular way of life?

4. Do you understand that being a child of God isn't in dressing or name? But rather a way of life? Something that reflects in your little actions in the bus, on the road, even on Nairaland, on social media where everyone (or most people) live a no-regards life?

5. Do you know Jesus Christ? Can you tell 50, or ok just 5 of the counsels Jesus gave to disciples, public etc?

I want to tell you that salvation isn't in that church organisation. That answers to prayers isn't in the pastor.

See it is not by your church, your pastor, your prophet or anything. It is by God. Give me 1000 careerpastors together on one side, and give me a little unknown child on the street who only knows "The Lord is my Shepherd" and holds on to that. I will rather fellowship with that child than your 1000 pastors.

What are you saying? What do you mean? I mean it is time you know where your solutions lie and to understand the purpose of whatever you are doing. Enough of your lazing around your church, or your pastor.

So like they say go big or go home; its time you my churchfriend, know God or ...

1. 'They' said you have spirit husband
2. They said you should bring money
3. They said you should tithe
4. They said you should enter hotel
5. They said you should bath
6. They said you should make spirit husband jealous
7. They did the same thing to your cousin

And a sensible person decided to share your 'mumuly' adventure as you called it yourself?

For the sakes of others ('Christians') who don't know

1. The fact that you know what a church is doesn't mean you are a 'Christian'
2. The fact that you sing and shout Hallelujah doesn't mean a thing - Lucifer himself sings better than your choir master
3. The moment you go to a 'prophet', am sorry you are spiritually blind.
4. Real Christians are intelligent, spirit led. By the way you don't even need the Spirit in episodes like this.
5. Did you ever read your Bible? Of course no. If you do, you'll have read flee from every appearances of evil
6. If Jesus Christ never did it, why would you allow anyone do it?
7. Enough of all these fake pastor things. Its just like scams. Let people get wisdom and fake pastors will disappear.
8. I personally try to warn women/ladies against going up an down to male pastors of any kind. But will most listen?
PropertiesUs-based Nigerian Cries Out As Lagos Policemen Take Over Her House by MakeADifference(op): 7:44am On Dec 10, 2016
A 49-year-old estate consultant based in the US, Mrs. Toyin Momodu, has cried for help over what she described as a collusion between one of her tenants and the police to “steal” her house in Lagos.

The house is a five-apartment building on Adebola Street, off Adeniran Ogunsanya, Surulere, Lagos, which Momdu said she bought from the Lagos State Development and Property Corporation 15 years ago.

Right now, Momodu believes one of his tenants, Mr. Obinna Ejike, (AKA Prince), has colluded with a police officer to take over her house.

Ejike’s co-tenants, who have expressed fear about his activities in the house, said he has at least six policemen stay in the compound as his bodyguards on a daily basis.

Momodu told Saturday PUNCH that she got a hint of the police presence in her compound some days ago, another tenant sent her an email to inform her that heavily armed men had taken over the house.

Explaining how Ejike came to live in her house, she said, “I rented out all the four other apartments in the house and left one to be used by me and my family when we are in Nigeria. It is fully furnished with a large generator. Even the mere sheets on the beds are imported.

“But I was told it was better I just sublet it so that everything would not lie fallow for the period I am away. So, my brother informed me that Ejike wanted to sublet it for an initial period of three months.

“I didn’t even ask what he does because I believed his stay was just temporary. We agreed on the payment of N8,000 per night, which amounted to N240,000 per month. In March 2016 when he came, he first payed N168,000. He then paid N400,000. Everything he paid – N568,000 equals the rent of 71 days.

“But since the last N400,000, he stopped paying. I called him to find out what was wrong but he said he would pay his debt which is now over N2m. After that, he issued cheques which the banks said were duds. It was after I got wind of the policemen in my compound that I was forced to come to Nigeria to find out what was going on.”

A copy of one of the cheques was made available to our correspondent showing N1.5m.

Momodu said when she got back to Nigeria and went to her house, she asked the six policemen she found there that day what they were doing and they said they were guarding Ejike.

“I have told him to leave my house. I even told him to forget the money he owed because I just wanted him out. But he has refused to move. I am actually afraid of going into my own home now,” she said.

Momodu said she had reported the matter at the Bode Thomas Police Division, where the Divisional Police Officer had ordered Ejike to immediately vacate the house. When our correspondent visited the house on Wednesday, two armed police sergeants and a corporal were sitting in the compound.

One of them, Sergeant Aderopo Victor, challenged why anybody would want to take the picture of the house.

He then placed a call to one “commander” to inform him of the presence of journalists despite the fact that Momodu was also present.

Momodu said she had done everything she could to ask Ejike to leave her house but the tenant had refused to leave, as he enjoys the protection of policemen.

When Ejike was contacted, he simply said he had nothing to say.

Saturday PUNCH also contacted the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Dolapo Badmos, who said Momodu’s allegation of being issued dud cheques was being investigated.

“But there is nothing we can do about sending the man out of the house. It is not the police duty to chase out tenants. She should go to court. The policemen seen at the house are attached to a company that the man handles contracts for.”

Christianity EtcHere Is The 'rescued' Bible Of Colombian Plane Crash Survivor by MakeADifference(op): 4:25pm On Dec 08, 2016
The Bible was found at the scene of the tragic plane crash that killed 71 people

A footballer who survived the Colombian plane tragedy was reading a Bible passage about 'being safe in the shadow of your wings' before the crash.

The bible, belonging to Chapecoense centre back Helio Neto, was found at the scene of the crash and has been handed to the footballer's wife.

A bookmark had been inserted next to Psalm 63, which talks about being safe in the shadow of God's wings and about thinking of God in bed.
In detail it says: 'On my bed I remember you; I think of you through the watches of the night; Because you have been my help; Then I will rejoice in the shadow of your wings.

'My soul follows you closely; Your right hand upholds me.'

Video footage shows journalist Roberto Cabrini at the scene of the wreckage and noticing the book, with a note inside saying it belongs to the defender, who is in a critical condition.

The reporter can be seen visibly shaking as he realises what it is.

He reads with a shaky voice the name that is printed on the inside of the cover, as behind him we can see the wreckage of the crash.
Mangled parts of the plane can be seen in the background and Cabrini is later seen taking the bible to the wife of Neto, who smiles as she realises what she is being given.

Neto's condition has been described as 'delicate' by doctors who said they regularly have to 'stabilise' him as he has a 'serious pulmonary infection.'

Science/TechnologyRe-brace Up For For Data Increase - Open Response To The Minister/ncc by MakeADifference(op): 7:45am On Dec 07, 2016
Dear Minister,

Let me start by saying statements such as brace up for data increase are inflammatory (see article at https://www.nairaland.com/3505411/minister-advises-nigerians-brace-telecom). The likes of those statements is what turns Nigerians to disrespect govt personalities online.

Before going too far, let me also tell you to stop threatening us with data price hike. If you are sure of yourself and bold enough, then go ahead and increase it. Nigerians will not die, it is your govt that will die. Sani Abacha did worse things, the first coming of Buhari dealt worse to Nigerians, today they are in the history of 'evils of Nigeria'.

So go ahead and make the cheapest data to be 90k per MB.

In a country where people live under $.40 (40c) a day, 90k data will mean 1GB will be at least N900.

You go on talking about the need to protect small operators, that is not an intelligent argument. Why?

1. Did you (NCC/Danbatta) protect cybercafes when mobile phones came in? Do you know that your mobile telcom operators etc that you claim you want to protect now brought an end to thousands of small businesses (cybercafes) and millions of people in that industry? Where was the NCC then?

2. Did you (NCC/Danbatta/Shittu) protect wired/wireless ISPs from the mobile operators? where is Ross Clayton Limited (1st Internet operator in Nigeria), where is Linkserve? Where is Hyperia? Where is Skannet (Ibadan) and several other guys who invested in your 'bloody' space and brought tech to your space when it was stinking and no one will touch it?

It is not your fault that you are 'jumping gun'; some industry knowledge and an understanding of the market is needed here. You are referencing NITEL as in (He said the NCC did not set any price ceiling but provided a price law.
Dambatta added, “ We stepped in when we noticed a price war in the sector. The price war was already reaching undesirable level that we had to step in to prevent a monopoly like the days of NITEL.”). That is a very horrible argument.

Let us examine the table as it stands.

Is it MTN that is the data monopoly?
Is it Glo?
Is it Spectranet?

I laugh at your thinking and reasoning. Who are the players you are trying to protect? Let me ask you how much 1 Megabit dedicated links cost. Do you know how many GB can flow through a 1mb channel in a day? Do you know how much money data providers make?

When I was buying 64k dedicated links at $1,100 and selling access at N150 per hour who protected me and the thousand others?

See I can go on and on to show you that there are 1,001 and things NCC should be doing; but making 1GB to be at least N900 should be very far from your thinking.

I currently buy 18GB from Glo at 4,000. I waste most of it retrying page loads and downloads. I tried MTN N25 night thing, it was a waste of sleep and I stopped when I won't even get 25MB. I tried Airtel who will take 38MB for a 12MB file I downloaded. I tried Spectranet where I will pay N10,000 for 20GB. It has made me 'poorer'; and I am not into MMM so I have to stop the subscription.

So now you want Glo to charge me +N16,200 for 18GB, and Spectranet +N18,000 for 20GB, that Airtel would be N8,100 4.5GB or so/9GB (when they are happy they claim they offer you double).

I am currently hustling (meaning unemployed). I have to bear with your bro in the other place (CBN) taking away Mastercard which we use to buy the domains and hosting we use. It is only hope in God that is left for Nigerians. That is why those who can't go into crimes haven't commited suicide.

So wherever the three of you and all others who are bent on making life hard for millions of people are, always think of the fact that there are several people who are affected already as things are.

Don't think democracy is the only option. No. Don't think military govt is the other impossible option. Anarchy and chaos is a form of govt. Don't think a NaijaSpring is not possible. It is thinking some things are impossible that made Trump a US president-elect.

If the laughed at, scorned, derided Trump could become America's president, you all may not be in portfolio by end of the year? Talkless of your party winning in 2019.

Like I said, go ahead. We won't die. Make 1GB N3,000. It is your shame, your shameful change legacy. Carry on with it. By the way I nominate you for non-performing minister award 2016.

Yours faithfully
The one and only Priest.

BusinessHow A Data Price Hike Can/will Pay All The 200,000 N-power Recruits by MakeADifference(op): 3:05pm On Nov 28, 2016
It will only take you 30 seconds to read this and get a picture.

Govt finally has made telcos increase data tarriff (as MTN conveyed in SMS)

There are 98 million Internet users in Nigeria

Nigerians spend more on recharge cards than food, we spend N267.8 billion on recharge cards. (Some say N447.8bn)

If they tax / increase your 1,000 recharge by 10% to 1,100 and do similarly to other recharges, they will make 26.7 billion every month from your pocket.

Even if 1,000 is increased to 1,050, they will still make 13 billion.

Now remember your 200,000 brothers/sisters they employed and promised 30k? Their salaries in a month is just 6 billion.

Remove 6b from 26.7b and you still have 20 billion naira left

Why is it the December that the 200k people will earn their salaries that we suddenly get hit with a data hike?

Who told you your government is a dullard?

Now who is the real dullard - you or your government?

WebmastersBloggers Watch It, You Can Be Sued To Death Literally by MakeADifference(op): 8:39am On Nov 19, 2016
I just want to sound a note of warning to people who post anything anyhow.

An example is one post in which church-run universities were said to charge outrageous amounts and that members couldn't afford etc. I was expecting to see millions as fees. Without stress I can mention private universities in Nigerian charging 3x what the listed universities were charging.

Those who wrote that post should be lucky the churches involved are nice or don't care about 'irritants'.

I currently have a situation where someone posted about a university (not in Nigeria). The newspaper has now been sued by the varsity for $50m. Simple story that the university had non-accredited courses has led to a court battle. Can't give more details.

One thing you should know is that when you are sued, it may not even be to win the case. It may only be to make you sweat.

Aside lawsuits, you may be unlucky to have an opportunity in these universities in future. Remember the man who protested at the gates of the National Assembly, calling for scrapping the Senate. Not long after he was there to face screening for a position and you can be sure he now regrets his earlier actions.

Steer clear of baseless assertions. It would hurt you one day.
