@GNature 30 Credits to get a bachelors degree in America ?What school is that?? I am an American and I do hold a bachelor's degree from an American university and I had to have 120 credits to receive my bachelor's degree. What school did you attend? What did you study? |
@ZuluNation Don't feel bad. I am an American and I can no longer donate blood because I have visited Nigeria. I do understand how you feel and it is very insulting. ![]() |
I am a non-African. I am American, but my husband is a Nigerian. ![]() |
I have been reading this post and I just have to reply here. I am a 25 year old African American woman who is married to a wonderful 26 year old Nigerian man. I am sooooooooooo HAPPY!!!! My husband is the love of my life. He is a true man of God. We pray together, go to church together, we study our bibles together, we cook together, etc, He is the most romantic man I have ever met. Sure at first we had our rough patches, but after having a long talk with his older sis we worked them all out because I began to understand him better, and she opened my eyes to things. Yes he is very, very strong, but I do not see him as being domineering or demanding, I just view him as being strong, and I love it!! I have always wanted a man who knows how to take charge. It is great to not have to worry because you know your man will take care of everything. I know how to keep things in God's perfect order by letting him be a man, and I continue to be a woman basking in ALL my femininity. You see some African American women cannot handle the strength of an African man because we come from a different culture where women exercise more control. We just come from a different culture and there is nothing wrong with that. Not all African men are after African American women for papers, some are generally interested in trying something new. My husband was attracted to me becasue I am a Christian woman, and I answer to a higher calling of God. He also found me witty, intelligent, sharp, outgoing, humorous and full of contagious laughter. Our spirits connected. So Chelley maybe your spirit just connects more with African culture. I have always loved African clothing, music, food and culture, and found it to be very interesting and charming, so when my husband found me I was honored to be persued by an African man. Everytime I go to Africa I feel like I am at home, and I can truly feel the spirit of my ancestors. The best part is his family is truly my family, we are one. I never worried about African American men not asking me out, I simply left myself open to the blessing of having a good man and loving husband, regardless of race or culture. I do not see what the problem or issue is here, we are ALL black. God is no respecter of persons and neither should we be. We, especially African American women, need to let God open our hearts so that we can let love flow freely, because alot of you are going to miss out on the man God has prepared for you worrying about silly stuff that does not matter. |

This should be a lesson learned to the girl. First off do not surround yourself with too many females because they are very sneaky. Some females, especially when they do not have a man, are just waiting for the opportunity for you to slip up with your man so they they can move right in and get all your good stuff. As women we need to stop running our mouths so much. Her second mistake was going back and telling her so-called friend's that the guy was not really fine. If she did not think he was that fine and she knew she still wanted him she should not have said anything anyway. The bottom line here is she talked too much and now she has lost her man to another girl. She needs to just let it go and chalk it up to a lesson learned and hopefully next time she will know better. Never tell anything when it comes to relationships. |
It is none of the churches business. Marriage is a Holy Sacrament and to hold it from people just because they are HIV positive is not a right the church has. People should be allowed to marry whoever they want, as long as the two people involved are okay with it then why should the church be bothered. Also here in America there have been new procedures developed which allow HIV positive people to have children all the time with out the kids being exposed. I do not know if this has been developed in Nigeria yet but it is possible to have children who are not infected with the disease. The church has to know when they have stepped over their bounds and are infringing on people's rights. |
Hell NO!!!! I hate my job and my boss, because I have way more education and I am way smarter than she is.!!! I have to help her with everything, and pick up her slack! The worst part is when something she was supposed to take care of goes wrong, and her boss gets up in her face about why a project she was supposed to work on was not completed, guess who she blames it on? That's right, me. I am just praying for my break through so that I can start my own business and get my butt out of that company ASAP! More power to the people who have jobs they love! ![]() |
I have the same problem. My dermatologist called it Hyper-Pigmentation, which is common among black people. Your best option is to go to a dermatologist and let him prescribe whatever is best for your particular skin, because if you experiment too much, and follow alot of other people's advice you could end up damaging your skin or burning it. Your skin is very delicate. That is what happened to me. But my dermatologist gave me Brevoxyl-8 and Retina Micro, these worked wonders. I don't know your situation, but if you cannot see a dermatologist, the best thing is to wash in the morning and at night with Dove soap for sensitive skin, and at night before bed rub Palmer's Cocoa Butter alll over your face to blend your skin and fade the black spots. I use these products and my face looks great now. Also never, ever use skin bleaches or lighteners cos these products will casue more acne and will burn your skin and make the spots worse, if you use these you will be sorry, trust me I been there and done that. Good Luck!! I hope you find something soon. |
The same thing happened to me when I was in college, and I had alcohol poisoning. I felt like I was going to die. Just make sure you eat, especially bread. I know it is hard to eat, but trust me the bread will sort of soak up the alcohol. You will still feel uneasy in the stomach for a few days after, but soon you wil start to feel normal again. It just takes time to wear off. Good Luck!! I hope you feel better soon!! ![]() |
I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE this song!!!!! I have it on video C.D and I listen to it all the time. ![]() |
They look like something I wore in junior high school. No adult woman with any sense of style would wear those. I guess we can all see now why Tina is Beyonce's stylist. |
Well I have dated both black guys and white guys. Sure white guys will buy you things to be romantic, but black men have more passion inside. I mean out of the various races I have dated, none of them have loved me like black men have loved me. White men just lack passion in my opinion, and when they kiss you it is even weak. Black men are strong and they love hard with deep passion. Nothing can compare to the love of a black man, and yes there are still some good ones out there, lol But these are just my experiences, everyone is different. ![]() |
Follow Kenflavor's advice. My fiance did the same thing to me and my ring fits perfectly, and the best psrt about it is I had no idea how or even when he did it. He was so slick. The day he took the ring out I was shocked and surprised at how he got my size, lol!! ![]() |
Let her go honey. She is playing you, and she is fooling around on you with the guy she got out of the car with, and only God knows who else. Sometimes when we are in love it is hard for us to see what is right in front of our faces. You seem like a nice guy, find someone else. She is not worth your time. |

@ hikeman: It was just a joke about the Igbo guys. Ease up man. ![]() |
Well my fiance is Igbo and he is very sweet and generous too. He has always been extremely generous to me. So I guess he is just one of the rare nice Igbo guys, I got lucky, ![]() |
Igbos are the cutest and the sweetest too! ![]() |
Well I think Chioma is prettier than Oge even in these pictures. Oge just has a long weave( and not even a good one might I add) and she dresses like a hoochie mama, not classy at all. Isn't that a sheer white top with a black bra showing? no class. I do not know about their acting but Chioma is way prettier. You all need glasses. ![]() |
I agree with you Rolly. Me and my girl friends here in America who are married to or engaged to Nigerian men find them extremely romantic on a daily basis, but I guess that is becasue we are not looking at romance from the material prospective. It is not about the material things but more about the care and concern they show us. It is more about the protection they provide for us. You see we have to learn to look for romance in the simple everyday things these men do. Romance is making dinner so that when you get home from work you can just eat and relax and not have to stand at the stove for an additional hour. Romance is Helping you with the house chores and the laundry. Romance is making sure that when he goes to the market he remembers to pick up the snacks you like to munch on and making sure the beverages you love are always on hand. Romance is rubbing your feet after a hard day. Romance is cuddling with you and whispering sweet words in your ear(even if they are cheesy). Romance is going 30 to 45 minutes out of his way just to pick up from work because he knows you do not have a car just to keep you from having to ride the bus or call a cab. Romance is callling you everyday just to say he loves you and to see how your day went. Romance is uploading your picture onto his computer desktop just so he can look at you all day at work. Romance is kissing you good morning and telling you how beautiful you are. You see these things are very basic and cheap really but they involve time and care. Ant man can buy things when he has the resources, but that does not mean he loves you, it just means he opened his wallet, big deal! But spending time with you or taking time to remember and consider you now that is real romance. When it comes to romance I would say Nigerian men are wonderful!! Yes Nigerian men really do the things I mentioned. Ladies you just need to open your minds and your eyes. |
@thelastdon: Yes I would definitely like to know more about this. Please by all means invite some Ibo men into the discussion. This is an interesting topic. |
@ goodguy and@ thelastdon:LOL!!!! How do Ibo people behave ? |
No, Snazzy I am no longer a virgin, but I am a born-again Christian and since givnig my life to God I have been practicing a life of abstinence. So picture my surprise when I fall in love with a male virgin whom I am now preparing to marry, lol!! Never saw that one coming when I began to pray for a husband and sould mate. But I am happy and satified and best of all he loves me for who I am just the way I am. ![]() |
My boyfriend says poetry to me and I love it. He even sends it to me in text messages and emails everyday. I think it is a cute gesture. I don look so much at what he is doing to be romantic but I look more at the gesture behind it. I think it is great and I even write poetry to him and recite it to him. I say just give the men a chance even if it does sound cheesy, because think about it if you reject this small gesture then he may not make any more romantic gestures down the road for fear of rejection, and then you will be complaining that he does not even try to woo you anymore even with the poetry you are rejecting. Believe me flowers and candy are nice but I have been there and done that, and most of the times those are just material things with no meaning. Any man can go out and buy something for you to passify you and shut you up, but sometimes the meaning behind it is nothing. I have dated men who buy material things and then do not spend any time with you becasue they are having to work over time to put money back into their accounts and then have extra to continue to buy you more things you want. I personally would rather have the time, attention and the sappy poetry, it speaks more to me. |
