My heart goes out to both young parents. Victims of their own selfish acts! After a hard day's work and all d stress, to let off steam, i justTRAVEL to NAIRALAND. The journey is alwaz worth the travel expenses. Imagine, eat pineapple, yam and coconut with peels! ![]() |
INDESTRUCTABLEX: I think I should end this thread. I have had a few clashes with tailors. First when I burnt my suit trousers and needed to go back to school urgently. This guy turned me around. I later found out he was planning his wedding. Aside that m good with them. I just gave the same guy four natives to sew and he did a very good job within 1 week. And he ended the thread! ![]() |

Now, insert your zip, from the tip of your back neckline. You have a completed gown now, but, not your completed Orla Keily gown yet! On the front part of the gown, using tour needle and matching thread, attach your buttons, on the band, directly beneath your darts. As shown on the Orla Keily gown pic. And, voila! You have your own version of the Orla Keily gown to rock! Congratulations ladies! @Efosaval, @Onnari, WELDONE! |
Sorry, i don't hav pictures yet, i hav not started wok on ky own gown yet. But, I'll post my wok in progress pics ASA i start. |
I want to believe we are done making the top (blouse), middle (band) and bottom (skirt) parts. Next, join the top front with the front band using yr 1" allowance, do likewise for back pieces, (remember d back pieces are stil separate, or not, depending where you want to fix your zip). If back pieces are separate, pin together, using your zip allowance. Then, join your front top to the back top, using your bust, empire, and waist measures. Now you have a single top, all joined together. The bottom (skirt can now come in). Join skirt to top using your predetermined allowance, from zip allowance at the back, through the front all the way to the back again. You have in your hands now, a gown, an open gown. Now, close up the gown, by joining at the back, from the bottom of the gown, to the point where your zip should stop, that is, slight below your tail bone. ( on the raise of your bottom, about 3" or 4" below your band.) Remember to backstitch to lock your sewing. Now you have a half open gown, open from the top (neckline) behind. |
onnari :If you want to use a side zip, there's no need to cut your back centre piece into two. |
@Efosaval, u'r just good. Yr tutorials are concise, clear. I'm thrilled @ yr tutoring. I'm just not one given 2 so much words, I'm by nature, more, a practical person, plus I've bn verrrrrrrrry busy, dats y i hav seemed to b quiet on the thread. @Onnari, I'm following, just quietly awaiting my turn for my own inputs. I'll start cutting my own fabric tomorrow, God willing. P.s., i made my own sika wrap dress. I'll upload my finished dress tomorrow. @Efosaval, ****stil tripping**winks |

I grew up wit my Grandma, she used 2 put drops of coconut water on my head. She said it would make me grow tall. I'm d shortest in my house, 5ft4". Only slightly taller dan my mom. Our old people and their fallacies! Even tho it didn't wok for me, I'm glad science had found som uses for it. |
Yomieluv: me, and my fiancee, just like two baba's own, we have weathered several storms together.Insha Allah, we are tying the knots this December after 8 years of courtship.Waaaaaaaat, after 8 years! onnari :@ Onnari, I'm so sory for d silence, I've bn swamped in work. U kno, sallah season. There's so much 2 do in my shop, everyday, i return home wit headache. (i wish u could advice on dat!). I like d idea of sharing different parts of the dress among tutors. Let me kno which part u want me 2 take, I'll do my best to b available, or else, just let me tag along. I promise 2 b more active in subsequent sew alongs, as long as they don't fall into tailors "season" periods. From the look of things, I'll mak my own after Sallah. |
Decryptor: So much for a University Teaching Hospital. The question is will they have the hands to work with it effectively? I learnt that their indigenous lecturers there are so wack!U heard right. Most of them r godfather appointed! Otondo dem! Serious tribal sentiments thriving there, even among their own indigenes. The edifice of the teaching hospital is actually beautiful, attractive aesthetically, but inside, very empty. Devoid of equipments. Those displayed in these pics, u find in just a few rooms, scattered here and there. Mtcheeeeeeeeew. All na politics, when present gov, Gab Su-su as he is fondly called, leaves office, d place will go desolate. No b curse oh! Speaking from d Nigerian experience!!! |
Verrrrrrrrry interesting game, can't wait |
Ah! Me, i don't mind oh, if he claims he wants it for our protection in the home. BUT, he must teach me how to use it before we can keep it in our house! If not, NOWAY! |
D Umaru Dikko who wrote "Hausa By TV"? |
Oh, i tot fabric's supposed 2 b pure cotton. |
Hello People, U see, i am an advocate of healthy living and i especially preach eating lots of vegetables. Considering its rainy season, where practicable, i suggest growing yr own vegetables. There's loads of benefits connected wit dis practice. You hav yr vegetables fresh and handy wen you need them, you can certify the quality of veges u are using, and lots more. And ladies, having a vegetable garden widens your horizon, with regards to varieties of dishes u can make in the home. Vegetables like pumpkin leaves, bell pepper, spinach, scent leaves etc. |
demmy55: On point!Can only b done if her head won't hav 2 b cut off first! See y its impossible? ![]() |
