Trump made so much noise about christian genocide in Nigeria and then locked everybody in Nigerian both christian and Muslims.
But when white people in South Africa complained of racism and genocide...He sent an airplane and told them they are welcome to seek asylum in the USA. He also welcomed the first batch on arrival to the USA.
Lesson Learnt: Stay in Nigeria and fix your country. Remain sovereign from the USA Borrow less debt, stop embezzling public funds like Farouk |

Where is Peter Obi's Megaphone.
Killing security officials and there is no war going on.
Some people in the east just feel they can target and kill Security officials without any repercussions
But the minute the government acts now......The cries will be loud.
Not a single regional meeting on how to address and curb insecurity. |

For those who are blind there has been a coup de tat within APC since Buhari's death.

lawani: I think to solve the problem the government should impose a tariff on importation for a few years. Not indefinitely. Then those that have invested will be able to sell even at a little bit above market rate or even drive importers out. I also don't support the outright ban of importation. There are many companies producing in the country from iron rods to cable wire and etc and nobody has banned importation for them. They have had to struggle. They can place tariffs for two or three years because if they ban importation what will happen is what has happened in the cement sector. We will be paying double what they pay in China and India despite that we are poorer and labor is cheaper here I agree with your comment. You sound objective and non-biased. |

Jerry2rule: Wrong assessment. Dangote only needs at least 2 more competitors to keep him on the check too....for the fact that he is dragging the price down even it is by #1 means he have the Nigeria populace at heart.....if 2 more competitors comes in then he won't be the only to decide the pms price in Nigeria. The price drag down is all a scam. I hope you are smart enough to realize the game Book mark this post When he is done eliminating all other refineries The price will go even higher. |

owobokiri: Call me a hater, but i will keep saying the truth about this man and his business modus operandi. This man's desperation to force every government agency to dance to his whims and caprices is part of the problem of this country. He has basically stampeded out any potential local competitors in the different areas he invests in. There is basically no regulatory agency that is not afraid of him.
The loose ends in government oversights and management of the private sectors has made the economy so vulnerable and Dangote has been ruthlessly exploiting these. As a result, he may end up the richest man on earth while Nigeria will end up one of the poorest . This man sets sugar prices, sets floor prices, sets pasta prices, sets cement prices and is now the one who sets the pump prices of petroleum products across Nigeria!
This is extremely dangerous! We are now living in "The Federal Republic of Dangote". You are not a hater, some of us see what he is doing, he is snatching up all the lucrative sector in Nigeria and making the government his number one customer. Then he eliminates the regulatory body and the competition, more akin to establishing a cartel than allowing a free open market. |

SeniorGee: This has been my line of thought all along. When Dangote finish with Nigerians, even pant no go remain for una bombom Thank you. I am glad there are other people who can see the game he is playing. Step 1- Collect subsidized dollars to build a big refinery Step 2- Make sure they remove petrol subsidy Step 3- Force out all the importers Step 4-Make sure Nigerians buy 95% of their petrol from him Step 5- Go after the other small refineries, by manipulating the prices and forcing them out of busniess Step 6- Prevent any new refineries from being built Step 7- After 100% Monopoly is achieved ...JACK UP THE PRICES. |

PolyGamous: Lol, it is the absolute step for players that have no competition. Everyone will do that when they find themselves in an industry with no competition.
The marketers of this petroleum products has been doing this for long time, even claiming subsidies from the government beyond what they have in their depot.
When Dangote met bigger player in noodles, where is he now.
I believe the new policy might force some rich individuals to rush into starting industries which I believe might let Nigerians witness what competition truly looks like.
You think Nepa will still be showing us shege if there’s competitions? We all see what happened to MTN when GLO check mated am then. But look at NEPA, We have option of solar and Generator. Some people mix the three Some people use 100% solar in their village homes Some people use 100% generators The government should keep import lines for petrol Also allow local refineries to sell as well, give them quotas, maybe 80% local refineries, 20% import. The day dangote decides to hold us to ransom with price or delayed production.....we tell the import guys to step up. The day the import guys start doing fraud to inflate import prices, we tell Dangote refinery to checkmate them Then everyone will be on their toes. But the day we get rid of one of them, the other one will hold us to ransom. Which is what Dangote has successfully done. |

PolyGamous: Braaaa…. Was Dangote the only one that benefited from the subsidized dollar? You forgot airpeace also benefited and so many Nigerians that did arbitrage with it!? I will keep saying this for those that are not uneducated literates, there’s no monopoly in Nigeria, we just don’t have investors. You all watch and hail America government for putting tariffs on imported products all because they want the population to prioritize buying their own, watched and praised them when they tagged products as threat all because it’s making big waves in their country than indigenous products “that was not monopoly but art of trade?” Nigeria will be great when our institutions produce more educated students than literates that only knows how to cram but understand nothing. Good points you have made, I dont know your age, but i will assume you have followed Dangote's history from when he was selling imported rice, before he went to cement and now petrol. Step one-Get into the business Step two-Seek government patronage and concessions and import waivers Step three- Manipulate the prices and force out all other competitors Step four-Jerk up the prices once full monopoly is achieved.
Go and verify. We are in step 2 now. Go and write it down 5 years from now. We will be in step 4. |
