Softmirror:Those monies are peanuts. Its the exchange rate that makes it sound like a lot of money That was just 100K USD 5 years ago Imagine looting 12billion 30 years ago to share amongst your friends , only for them to come back after 35 years and donate 100k USD ?? The whole thing is laughable. |
Daddyk87:There is nothing genius about it. Everybody knows Abacha was killed. Everybody knows Abiola's mandate was stolen. You can fool some people all the time You can fool all the people some time But you cannot fool all the people all the time. |
A journey in service with multiple stops for looting ? We missed what would have been described as a golden era. Our free and fairest election was cancelled. Our national collective oil windfall of approximately 12 billion dollars, which is about 30 billion dollars corrected for inflation today. Norway, Qatar and Dubai also had the same windfall. And by the way, Nigeria sold more crude oil than (Dubai,Qatar and Norway) during the gulf war !!!!) We made more in crude oil surplus than these countries. Today look at where they are, for managing their resources and not looting everything. |
Ah, the joys of public service! Few acts of governance can match the sheer magic trick that took place during the reign of General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB)—a tenure so dedicated to “service” that $12 billion from the Gulf War oil windfall vanished into a realm beyond forensic accounting. Some say it went on an extended holiday, others whisper that it found itself in deep meditation, contemplating its true purpose. Either way, Nigeria, unfortunately, did not get the memo. A Golden Opportunity for Greatness (That Was Swiftly Squandered) Once upon a time, in the golden year of 1991, Nigeria was handed a gift from the gods of crude oil—a staggering $12 billion in excess revenue. Other nations in similar situations used such windfalls to build their futures. Norway, for instance, created a sovereign wealth fund, now worth over $1.4 trillion. The UAE built Dubai. Qatar constructed a global empire. But Nigeria? Nigeria chose something far more ambitious—a great vanishing act. Where Did The Money Go? Had Nigeria invested that money in a sovereign wealth fund, it would today be worth at least $306 billion—enough to power the economy, fund world-class infrastructure, and turn the country into a beacon of prosperity. Instead, the funds embarked on their own “journey in service”—one that led them far, far away from Nigeria’s development. The official narrative? A masterclass in creative storytelling. The money went into “strategic projects.” The problem? No one can point to a single one. Hospitals? Schools? Roads? None were built. Instead, what we got was SAP (Structural Adjustment Program), devalued currency, economic hardship, and military buddies swimming in luxury. A Selfless Leader’s Self-Reflection (or Image Whitewashing?) Recently, IBB graced the world with his autobiography, a valiant attempt to redefine history with the precision of a heartwarming bedtime story. With great humility, he reminds us that governance was not easy. Oh, the burden of power! The sleepless nights spent contemplating which offshore bank account needed topping up. The sheer weight of ensuring only the most loyal allies got their fair share of the missing billions. But fear not, dear Nigerians! Our leaders did not pocket all of it! They simply ensured that, in the spirit of national sacrifice, the funds were safely tucked away—just not for the benefit of Nigerians. What Could Have Been Had the $12 billion been truly invested: First-class infrastructure would have transformed Nigeria into a Dubai-like hub. World-class education would have created a generation of globally competitive professionals. A thriving economy would have reduced our dependence on crude oil and fueled innovation. Financial security would have shielded the Naira from its current status as a rapidly depreciating currency. Instead, what did we get? Decay, corruption, and a retirement home for former military rulers who occasionally emerge to remind us of their “selfless service.” The Legacy of the Vanishing Billions So here we are, decades later, still wondering what exactly happened to that oil windfall. The truth? It followed the sacred tradition of disappearing into the belly of governance, never to be seen again. And now, as the grand old statesman releases his memoirs, we are expected to believe in his noble intentions, his dedication to the country, and his sheer innocence in the financial sorcery that took place under his watch. A Journey in Service, indeed. If only Nigeria’s wealth had embarked on a similar journey—one that led to prosperity instead of well-furnished Swiss bank accounts. The whole book reeks of covert narcissism. The best thing to do is to ignore the book, the author, the content. If you are smart enough use your brain Someone cannot steal your yam and then 30 years later tell you, he ate the yam because he wanted to see how the new toilet flush will work. So he had to eat something to test the toilet. Forgetting all those that starved and died because someone stole their yam and ate it at gunpoint. |
They wont pass you early because you can take your qualification and move on. They want to use you as cheap free labor for NHS. This is one the most legal scams in the international medical field. |

Anambra people The rate you are kidnapping and assassinating yourself, Your house of representatives and Senators are not calling for a state of security emergency You go home to visit and you have more security than Vladimir Putin Nobody is addressing this issue headlong.... Flagrant display of wealth without verifiable source of income... Its so bad, i am always careful around my friends that have a lot of money and i don't know what you do....How am i sure you are not a kidnapper...I will not wait till you learn my movements and kidnap me. The government has to step in. Organize a confab on South East Security, with stakeholders not noisemakers or political wannabe's. They should seat down and hash out. How to make the southeast safer. |
Thou shalt not Labor in Vain. Eluppppeeee Countdown. Even Peter Obi is waiting for a free VP ticket in a major party. Peter Obi should go back to PDP and run the presidential primaries and win the ticket. Anybody can go to a party without presidential aspirants and turn to a noisemaker. Any party that doesn't conduct presidential primaries is an mickey mouse party. |
Eniolohunda:If you get paid 1 million dollars and the cheapest house you can purchase is 850k. And where you get paid 300k but the houses cost 20k. Do you know a small 2 bedroom 2 bathroom in Australia cost 1 million dollars. |
Contrarian2027:Do you know the difference between ideologically and realistically. I have always believed the push for clean Energy is because USA wants to sell EV (Tesla) to the world. The density of car waste we have outside USA,EU,China is no cause for alarm We don't even have enough cars in Africa, the minute Tinubu removed subsidy on Petrol our CO2 problem disappeared with subsidy. OPEC will always regulate oil especially Saudi. Because in Saudi, it costs $10 to explore and collect a barrel of oil from the ground. In Nigeria it costs $30-$40 due to insecurities and settling the likes of Tompolo. In USA it costs about $30 as there is a lot of horizontal fracking. If Saudi floods the market with cheap oil......All the countries producing oil for $30 or more stands the risk of being forced out of business. Thats why USA is kowtowing to the saudi governement. The Cheapest oil can only be found in Saudi. For the past 100 years. To answer your question. Its not just about discovering oil. There is oil everywhere. But what is the cost of extracting 1 barrel on the average. I think if oil gets cheaper, the number of people using it will increase,Half of Africa will use Generators. Nuclear fusion ....we still haven't mastered electricity after 200 years !!! Nuclear fusion is not a threat. Oil is not going anywhere even in 500 years. |
The Cartel gets stronger. |

A lot of Nigerians are very respected in multiple fields in the Afro-carribean countries. And their currency is very stable. Instead of Jakpa-ing to countries were they will work you like a slave regardless of your qualifications (USA,UK and Canada) If you are a professional in these other Afro-carribean countries you will live a good life. Good food, good weather (no snow), Respect and similar culture and most importantly beautiful feminine women. |

Invested ordinary 3 million dollars....... I couldn't even sleep, everyday checking and praying Talk less of 20 billion dollars. |
Nigerian government should have had him write a statement and sign prior to letting him go. These are rookie mistakes....... Ordinary jobs in America, when they fire you, you will be asked to write a beautiful resignation letter. After which you will sign NDA. You guys just released him like that.....lol You are lucky he is not out saying Tinubu asked him for Gay Sex. |
Nnamdi Kanu belongs in Jail. Where was his family when he was being an instigator of civil unrest in the south east. A lot of lives and properties were lost of innocent Nigerians He enforced this Monday sit at home, that has reduced the IGR of these states that are already struggling economically. A lot of people have lost their lives to his terrorist activities and inadvertent support. He set up a foreign money collection scheme where he was getting money to buy arms for the agitators, taking up arms against the Nigerian state. Where were the family and the South East leaders when all these was happening......And he still has not shown remorse or begged for a plea deal. Nnamdi Kanu is the last person that should be free in Nigeria. Nigerian state should punish those who abuse their freedom. They should calculate how much each state has lost to the sit at home order, calculate all lost lives and properties and he should be asked to refund all these monies to the families and businesses affected. |
Public Service Announcement. If It Was Free Yesterday, It’s Not a Gift Today. Try Again! |
Ah, Valentine’s Day don reach again, and some people—God will judge them—are out here trying to repackage bedroom exercise as a grand romantic gift. My dear, how can something that was freely available on Monday, Wednesday, and even last week suddenly become ‘special delivery’ because February 14th entered the chat? Be honest, if your partner wraps Indomie and gives you for your birthday, won’t you be offended? So why are you presenting the same ‘match’ you’ve been playing all season as a Champions League final? Please, let’s be serious—love is sweet, but at least add small effort. Even if na recharge card, my sister, do something!”

The school cannot contain two of them. One has to go. But we are in Nigeria. |
He needs to be held accountable. If the Nigerian government doesn't discipline him at home and hold him accountable. He will do this nonsense abroad one day and embarrass 250 million Nigerians. I have said it many times, all these guys need to be licensed.......If he doesn't show up in court, seize his license to perform or entertain. Every body booking an artiste in Nigeria, must go through the state board. That way the government can also tax them for revenue. This will create decorum in that space. |
I find this hard to believe..........Not until the day i see it functioning, i will never believe any news of completion about Kaduna refinery. |
If it was kemi badenuch "I learnt to run this fast in Nigeria, because armed robbers and terrorists were chasing us everyday" |
THIS IS THE REAL CORRUPTION.
