A political editor for a German newspaper is blasting billionaire Elon Musk over a hand gesture Musk made that has sparked widespread outrage. “A Hitler Salute is a Hitler Salute is a Hitler Salute,” read the headline on a column by Lenz Jacobsen in the German newspaper Die Zeit. “The gesture speaks for itself; it’s documented on video. Those who want to see something else in it, who don’t want to see a Hitler salute, do so at their own risk,” Jacobsen wrote. “At its very core, this is about attention — society’s most contested currency, at a time where every image, video, and soundbite vies to be noticed every second of the day. Trump and Musk excel at this game, especially in turning even bad publicity to their advantage. Case in point.” The column came with a photo of Musk making the hand gesture, which came during a celebration of President Trump’s inauguration in Washington, D.C., on Monday. Musk, a prolific social media presence and key member of Trump’s inner circle, has scoffed at the allegations that he was performing a Nazi salute, saying those making the comparison were deploying “dirty tricks.” “Frankly, they need better dirty tricks,” Musk wrote on the social platform X, which he owns, calling it “just another part of the ‘dirty tricks campaign.’” Musk’s gesture sparked widespread outrage on Monday, with Democratic lawmakers and other observers noting the billionaire’s embrace of right-wing policies and conspiracies. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Tuesday also condemned Musk’s hand gesture, Reuters reported. “We have the freedom of speech in Europe and in Germany. Everyone can say what he wants, even if he is a billionaire. And what we do not accept is if this is supporting extreme-right positions,” Scholz said. Meanwhile, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), a nonprofit focused on combating antisemitism, came to Musk’s defense. “It seems that @elonmusk made an awkward gesture in a moment of enthusiasm, not a Nazi salute, but again, we appreciate that people are on edge,” the ADL said. Nigeria’s Debt Crisis: A House of Cards Nigeria is drowning in unnecessary debt, with nothing to show for it but a depreciating naira, rising inflation, and economic stagnation. What wealth-creating measures do we have in place to justify this borrowing? None! Why This Debt is a Dead-End • No Revenue Growth: We borrow but don’t invest in productive industries (manufacturing, tech, or value-added agriculture). • Debt for Consumption: Loans are wasted on subsidies, bloated governance, and recurrent expenditures instead of infrastructure or wealth-building projects. • Naira’s Freefall: More borrowing devalues the naira, making external debts even costlier. • No Economic Reforms: Instead of fixing taxation, trade policies, or industrial output, we keep printing money and issuing bonds. Liabilities That Won’t Last • Infrastructure Decay: Borrowing without maintenance = roads, power projects, and refineries that won’t last. • Unproductive Workforce: Education and skills development are neglected, creating a weak labor market. • Political Corruption: A significant chunk of borrowed funds disappears into government inefficiencies and shady deals. Solution? Invest, Not Borrow! 1. Massive Industrialization: Invest in manufacturing, refine crude oil domestically, and boost exports. 2. Agriculture Revolution: Move beyond raw exports—process cocoa, palm oil, and cashew locally. 3. Tech & Innovation: Incentivize fintech, AI, and blockchain startups to create global competitiveness. 4. Cut Government Waste: Slash unnecessary spending, reduce legislative costs, and eliminate redundant agencies. Until we stop borrowing recklessly and start generating wealth, this debt spiral will crush Nigeria’s economy. |
Good move. |
They need training on arrest procedures. Some operators probably relying on voodoo bulletproof. Intelligence is better than force....study the guy. Call him to the bank and tell him someone sent a check with his name to withdraw his money, tell him he has to come in person before the check is cleared. Send a delivery guy to his house for surveillance. Send him beautiful girl when he is outdoors to chat him up. So many ways to arrest someone, breaking into peoples house in areas with a lot of insecurity is not smart. If you break into my house. I will shoot you. I don't care who you are. When you meet God you can explain, if your explanation is good enough, he can send you back to earth. |
Best time to carry out a dangerous raid is at the crack of dawn. 5.00am to 6.00am |
At least it wont help to offer, Nigeria can assemble 500 firefighters and put them on the ground in a short record time. Even if the USA turns down the offer it makes diplomatic credit in the future. A friend in need is a friend indeed. Just imagine Nigerian firefighters landing in LAX. Even if its just a 2 weeks eye service. It will also shut the likes of Trump up, when he decides to call all African countries shithole countries. We need to be seen internationally as helpful, not just when we are looking for loans and aids from world bank and IMF.

In a world that is increasingly interconnected, disasters in one part of the globe often have ripple effects that transcend borders. Wildfires in California have become an annual catastrophe, ravaging homes, displacing thousands, and destroying millions of acres of land. As the United States struggles to contain these infernos, a pressing question arises: Why hasn’t Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, extended an olive branch by offering to send Nigerian firefighters to assist in California? The Case for Nigerian Assistance Nigeria, despite its challenges, boasts a well-organized federal firefighting service and a growing emphasis on disaster management. Offering assistance to California would: 1. Strengthen Diplomatic Ties • The United States and Nigeria have a long-standing relationship, especially in trade and security. A gesture of goodwill, like sending firefighters, could deepen this bond. 2. Showcase Nigerian Expertise • Nigeria’s capacity to handle urban and industrial fires is notable. Assisting a superpower like the U.S. in a time of crisis could enhance Nigeria’s global reputation. 3. Set a Precedent for African Leadership • African nations often receive aid but rarely extend it. This initiative could signal a shift, demonstrating that African nations can also step up to support global crises. Why the Silence? President Tinubu’s administration has remained silent on the issue, perhaps due to: • Domestic Challenges Nigeria faces significant internal crises, from economic instability to security concerns. Critics might argue that resources should be prioritized locally. • Limited Resources While Nigeria’s firefighters are skilled, the country may lack the logistics to deploy them overseas. • Political Calculations Engaging in international humanitarian efforts might not resonate with the domestic electorate, especially if it appears to divert attention from local issues. A Missed Opportunity? Failing to act could be a missed opportunity for Nigeria to assert itself as a key global player. By offering assistance, Tinubu’s administration could: • Project Nigeria as a nation capable of providing aid, not just receiving it. • Showcase solidarity with a global partner in need. • Shift the narrative around Africa’s role on the global stage. While it may seem unconventional, Nigeria’s offer to assist the U.S. in combating California’s wildfires could be a defining moment in international diplomacy. It’s not just about sending firefighters; it’s about sending a message. Nigeria can contribute to global crises and, in doing so, redefine its place on the world stage. The ball is in Tinubu’s court. Will he rise to the occasion?
