Seun: @malc619: The person you're defending is a persistent troll. The account was a troll account "Trouble Maker". I decided to have some fun by changing his name to "peacemaker" instead of just banning him for the 3rd time and waiting for him to create yet another troll account. And yes, he has been banned for posting offtopic all over the forum. The troll in question does not deserve to be defended by you or any other normal person. People like him make the forum inhospitable by insulting people all over the place and derailing threads. I'm sorry because my silence made you feel that your username could be changed against your will. That is not possible because you're not a troll; you are a normal person.

Ok Mr. Seun, thanks for your response.

However, I'm very curious:

1. You said that you've banned him twice and each time he opens a new account, how are you sure it's the same person? Did he Ʊ$£ same username in all 3 accounts?

2. I went through "trouble-make's" (peace keeper's) posts and what I saw there wasn't exceptional. Though he had some confrontations with others, I saw nothing worrisome in his posts. If what I saw is bannable, then 85% of members will be banned by now. So seriously, I doubt ur accusation of his insulting people all over. Except you took exception to his challenging you for changing his username.

3. You said he was banned for off-topic posts. I actually saw some of them and I think it's your fault. He went aboiut threads complaining about ur changing his username. He'd not have done that if you didn't change his username. You set a TRAP for him and sadly, he fell for it.

Mr. Seun, if I may ask do you think it is RIGHT to change a person's username because you SUSPECT that he's a troll??

I think you should look seriously at what transpired and ask yourself if you've been fair and just in the way you handled the matter.

Anyway, thanks for ur response. Even though I wished OAM4J had responded because you do not take criticism lightly, you see it as an affront on your person, especially as the site owner.

Best regards..

@OAM4J:

Good day to you. I wish to express my disappointment in the way you have chosen to treat my legitimate enquiry with a rude silence after promising to address same.

It is sad that the same high-handedness and absolute disregard for the welfare of others which you as a person have severally accused the FG of is what you and Seun are engaging in here on NL.

A member queried why his username was changed, and instead of explaining why you treat such polite enquiry with insultive disdain and disrespect.

I'm even suspecting that he has been BANNED (since he hasn't made any post since then). This is the height of suppression and oppression. I have an interest in this matter as I've on some occassion been a victim of the oppressive actions of some NL Mods(names witheld)

This is the last time I'll raise this issue as your disrespectful silence on the issue has give me the answer I seek. I leave you and Seun to posterity for judgement.

Best Regards..

Politics / Re: The Second Eze Ndi Igbo Parliamentary Office by malc619(m): 3:21am On Feb 01, 2013
odumchi: Biafra was a terrible and bitter experience for not only us Igbo, but for also our fellow eastern countrymen with whom the experience was shared. At the end of the war, our businesses were ruined, our homes leveled to the ground, our brothers and sisters dead, our mothers widowed, our children orphaned, and our lives forever changed.

For our troubles (and as a form of reparation), we were each allotted twenty pounds with which we were told to restart our lives afresh, and we did so. From our distress and sorrows, we picked ourselves up, dusted each other off, and then tackled the world even harder, ultimately achieving new feats of greatness. In doing what we did, we chose not to feel sorry for ourselves nor to contemplate on what could've been, but to work even harder for our people's social well-being and advancement. Ultimately, I believe this is what the "Igbo cause" is.

In my perception, the "Igbo cause" exists entirely separate from Biafra—a tale of our people's near-extinction, and as long as it is continually associated with it, it will be continually rebuffed by those who lack full comprehension of it. However, at the same time, it is also necessary to absorb and retain the lessons taught to us by the Biafran experience, so that the lives of the two million or so of our brothers and sisters that were lost may not have been lost in vain.

In today's world, we must remember our past while realistically recognizing our position in contemporary Nigerian politics and society. Just as it would be unwise for a canned fish to think that it would one-day return to the ocean alive, it would also be unwise for us to continue thinking as is if we were in the sixties. Realistically speaking, Biafra does not seem like a likely option anytime soon (unless Nigeria dissolves overnight). Therefore, in keeping the Igbo "we must survive no matter what" mentality, it is in our best interest to make the best out of our present situation and to wrestle freedom and equality out of the jaws of our oppressors if it will not be freely offered to us. The tale of the Igbo is that of a people who survived near-extinction and thereby developed a mentality that professes survival at all costs and in all scenarios. Therefore, whether in Nigeria or not, we shall overcome.

This is my stance on the Igbo-Biafra issue.
Ndeewo nu.

Well said!!

Your words are wise...

Hello OAM4J,

I would like you to look into an issue I raised earlier on about MODs changing the Username of members on the forum as raised by a member earlier on this thread.

It's sad to note that I went through the individual's posts and found that his complaint was legitimate as his username was actually changed.

To make matters worse, demands made on this thread by the member for an explanation as to why his Username was changed were not responded, instead his complaints (as well as my enquiry) were hidden.

This leaves me wondering what the aim of this thread is if not for members to have their complaints and enquiries attended to.

Why would a legitimate complaint made on this thread (in clean and decent language) be hidden.

Please raise this issue with Seun and get back to me as my earlier complaint to him was hidden without any attempt to address the issues I raised.

I hope you handle this matter promptly, giving it the urgency it deserves.

Thanks...

The Lagos Sate Election Appeal Tribunal has returned Adewale Adeniji, the candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, as the Chairman of the Ikoyi-Obalende local council.

The Appeal Tribunal reversed the decision of the Election Tribunal that declared Ibrahim Obanikoro of the Peoples Democratic Party the rightful winner of the election after the Lagos electoral commission had declared the ACN candidate winner.

Billyonaire: Nigeria's decay should not be blamed on PDP, because before Democracy was Military Governments. We have seen many advanced economies that were built by military dictators. Nigeria's problems should be blamed on our psyche as a people. PDP Governments of Akwa Ibom and Cross River States have proven that our problem isnt PDP, it is our regional behavioral stereotypes. Without any insult meant, an average Western Nigerian is a thug, behaves like a thug and rants like a thug, so it will not be surprising if we have a Governor, that promotes the use of thuggery to achieve an aim. It will not also be surprising to have a Governor in the South East who with due respect, will use cheat-tactics to defraud the state treasury cos it is stereotypical for an average igboman to cheat others in business. Will it be surprising then if there is an ACN, PDP or even CPC Governor in the North that will use official fiat to promote the love of Islam and entremisms ? Benin People are known as those guys that are fuccking greedy and alwayss wanna show off at the clubs and they are very good in militancy, so are you surprise if someone tells you the behavior of Ibori in power ? Listen, a people, get the leader they deserve. So irrespective of political affiliation we will almost always find stereotypical behavior promoting certain traits attributable to the ethnicity which the leader originates. OBJ (PDP) was a thug in power with due respect, Tinubu (ACN) was a thug in office, Oji Uzor Kalu (PDP) was a fraud in power. What is the solution to our problems ? We need to build very strong political institutions with tough terms of reference and manifesto and make sure these institutions are not regional so that we can all checkmate each other. Tinubu should not be bigger than ACN, in as much as we hate PDP but I am sorry to tell you that PDP is the only true national party and I am sure PDP will retain power at Federal level till the next 99 yrs 'if' there is no other national opposition party. You all will be here on Nairaland and you will see how PDP will continue to win and win again and again, cos Tinubu will not want to loosen his grip on ACN and Buhari will not loosen his grip on CPC and APGA is still a local champion in the East. I preach today that we should build institutions and stop promoting Tinubu instead of ACN. If Tinubu dare fields his wife as ACN Governorship Candidate, he will hear from Lagosians and I mean it. It will be the end of Asiwaju Company of Nigeria as we know it. I am Lagosian and I have the right to decide who governs me.

@GARRI (X7); That DSP Alamesegha was convicted of corruption doesn't stop him from bringing President GEJ from obscurity to limelight.
If you understand the wide spread criticisms and condemnations that greeted President GEJ nomination as deputy governor of Bayelsa State in 1999 when DSP Alamesegha single handedly picked him from the public service and insisted that he has made his choice of a deputy governor against the prevailing odds at the time which ofcourse provided President GEJ the platform to where he is today.

Being grateful to his benefactor before the whole world is the RIGHT thing to do as a man who doesn't appreciate people that made him is not a grateful man. President GEJ actions shows that he hasn't forgotten where he started off.

Being an Ex-con makes Alams a political leper that all sane public officers must avoid fraternising with in Public.

EFCC seizes 48 properties belonging to Timpre Sylva

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC), on Thursday seized 48 choice properties belonging to the former Bayelsa state governor, Mr Timpre Sylva.

The former governor is being prosecuted at a Federal High Court in Abuja for allegedly misappropriating N6.46 billion state funds during his tenure as governor of the oil rich state.

Confirming this to Channels Television, EFCC spokesman, Mr Wilson Uwujaren, said the commission’s action follows an order on December 28, 2012 by Justice A. R. Mohammed of the Federal High Court, Abuja.

Assets covered by the forfeiture order include: a mansion at 3 River Niger street, Plot 3192 Cadastral Zone AO, Maitama district Abuja and nine units (comprising six one bedroom and 3 two bedroom apartments) at 8 Sefadu street Wuse Zone 2, Plot 262 Cadastral Zone AO2, Wuse Abuja.

Others are 2 units’ duplexes at 5 Oguta Street, Plot 906 cadastral zone Wuse 11 Abuja.

Trial of the substantive suit comes up on 10th January, 2013.
