Muhammadu Buhari, presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), says he has been accused of many things, but not corruption, mediocrity and lying.
In a series of tweets on his Twitter handle @ThisIsBuhari on Tuesday, Buhari averred that he “fought corruption, stabilised the naira and shutdown insurgencies” when he was a military head of state.
“People accuse me of many things. But one thing they never accuse me of is corruption. They never accuse me of mediocrity, or of lying,” he said.
“I have led this country and I have a record. We were not perfect, but we were effective; we solved problems, and we made Nigerians proud. We rebuilt industries; Nigerians queued up and treated one another with respect; Nigerians took pride in our reputation for discipline.”
Buhari said because his traducers could not attack his records, they accuse him falsely of being a fundamentalist.
“Because they cannot attack our record, they accuse me falsely of ethnic jingoism; they accuse me falsely of religious fundamentalism,” he said.
“Even as head of state, we never imposed Sha’riah. All my running mates have been either Igbo or Yoruba and always Christian.” The APC presidential candidate, who is giving his fourth shot at the presidency, condemned Boko Haram and promised to end its reign of terror.
“I have and will continue to condemn those who burn God’s places of worship, be they churches or mosques and wish God’s judgment upon them.
“As your president, their punishment will not stop there; we will also ensure Boko Haram and other such elements, are found, are arrested. And, no, it does not matter if you are Christian, Muslim, animist or atheist: we need a new direction under a new leadership.”
While restating his reason for running for the office of the president, he said: “Corruption will be a thing of the past and we will ensure that wealth goes around our citizens in an equitable manner.
“Government will conduct itself in a disciplined and responsible manner; we will identify problems and fix them.
“Let me make you this promise today: We will protect your children. We will protect your wealth. We will make this country work again.”

Like a chameleon, this man is doing everything humanly possible to change himself. See, Nigerians are powerful people, they have succeeded in changing Buhari into many things: from a core Fulani and sharia-propagating Islamic irredentist to a Europeanized, Igbonized, Niger Deltanized, and church-going, hymn-singing Christian, all within a few months.

I hope that Buhari will continue to wear western suits, Igbo and Niger Delta traditional attires, and attend church services every once in a while whether he wins or loses. Otherwise, the chameleon don using Naija people enter one chance.

You have to identify with people if you want them to buy into your ideas and programs. That is why you are always in conflict with others, losing votes and couldn't understand why they're against you. How can you be abusing others culture, religion and region and expect them to be with you. That's the problem PDP is facing. You have Abati, Okupe, FFK, Omokri, Metuh, etc. always castigating those who don't buy a into their thinking, and at the same time wanting same to vote for them. That's impossible.

The constitution clearly states that any public officer vying for the post of the federal Republic of Nigeria will have SSCE or its equivalent at a minimum.

This condition must be met and verified.... there is no two ways around it. Buhari has to provide a certificate (photocopy or original) that would be verified by INEC to ensure he meets the criteria... its not rocket science.

GEJ as a person wont mind having Buhari on the ballot for APC as defeating him is certain. But we will be setting a bad precedence for our nascent democracy. This is the true change Nigerians have been yearning for.... everyone should play by the rules

You are in doubt, and here's not the place to clear your doubt but the courts. Unfortunately, you'd prefer what you wished to be true rather than taking the concrete steps to do the logical.

Then if you are convinced that the law is broken, the next thing to do is to go to court and challenge the submission, and if you are successful then he'd be disqualified.

Unfortunately this is not one of the topics that can be wished away. The constitution is clear on this... either he provides his certificate to be verified or he will be disqualified.

More unfortunate is the drama so far. Even if his certificate surfaces now..... a lot of questions will continue to come up on its genuineness. Besides, why would he say the army has his certs?..... that is far trailing act.

Let this be clear to you. There is no iota of doubt as regards Buhari's qualification and nobody can do anything about it since no law is broken. If anything happens to your documents, or if for whatever reasons you can't access them, the law provides you take an oath stating why they can't be provided. The only issue will be if you are found to lie under oath. We are certain as the sun rising from the East tomorrow that February will come and Buhari will contest. You and the Op (whose purpose is to raise suspicion) are only wasting your time.
