Elai147: There is no need to rush into stock market if you don't have a good knowledge of how it works. This is very important to avoid being discouraged and disappointed. My advice is for you to go through the various posts on this thread. It looks very uneasy but it's worth it as you will find almost everything you need to know here. Read a lot of stock investment books and get yourself prepared first. Here is a thread by stockbull where you can download some e-books.

https://www.nairaland.com/1476501/business-investment-book-directory

You have to be able to do two things to have a successful investment: picking the right company and buying at the right price. These are the two most important parts to investing in the stock market. You also need to determine if you want to be a long term investor or a speculator. Long term is usually the best and safer and if you must do speculative trading, you need to do it with your eyes widely opened as there is high possibility of losing your money. This is why you must get absolute knowledge before you test drive. Lastly, don't trade with money you cannot afford to lose.
Thanks I do appreciate!

Business is all about risk bearing and as a business Student I know calculated risk is what it duh!

Once again thank you and God bless you.

Use ur brain. I was once a student and I know how depressing it is when lecturers go on strike.
But will I because of that blame the lecturers when the govt/school authorities are to be blamed. I will surely not do that.
See me curse ASUU if after implementation of agreement, they refuse to go to classes.
Will be pretty happy if your curse will have an Immediate effect cox you will definatly curse them.

tomzman: I don't see anything special in what ASUU is asking for. It simply shows they don't trust the government. It's a pity that there are many ignorant people on nairaland. It's the normal thing to pay workers the arrears of their salaries in the event of a strike action.
At who's Expensehuh
Students?? If so then both ASUU and FG should pay we students for tramping on our educational right..

The fact that its constitutional to pay them their arrears should not justify their making it a condiction to call of their selfish and greedy Action.

God bless Nigeria!!!

ASUU didn't waste ur future, Jonathan did. ASUU simply wants u to have quality education, retardeen has other priorities. If he had honoured the MOU he signed with them last year, ur future would have been much more secured.
Place ur blame appropriately.
They have crossed the line now they are dotting the eye!

They still remain on the blame side QED.

NIGERIA.It's a really sad thing that we

protest.. we don't need a body for this
( BECAUSE THAT WILL ATTRACT THE
SENTIMENTS OF RIVAL POLITCAL
PARTIES).. the plan is simple we are
goin to use our phones in those various places to record our protest
and upload it on the internet. the
protest will last for a week and it will be
peaceful, WE ARE NOT ASKING THAT THE
GOVERNMENT BE OVER-THROWN
RATHER WE JUST WANT THEM TO TRULLY KNOW THEY ARE NOT HELPING US AND
THAT WE ARE NOT HAPPY.. if we can do
such a thing within 2days am sure even
international news like CNN and BBC
will be compelled to send their news
crew to Nigeria to withness the protest... and our government will
know the youths have awoken. am not
interested in gaining popularity and I
will advice that we don't allow any
body or union or party to join us in the
protest.. the protest is simply for Nigerian youths... just us showing the
world that we need change in our
nationplease don't let this die.. please
share. if there is positive response. we

EducationRe: Updates From President Jonathan & ASUU Meeting by malontee(m): 5:36pm On Nov 11, 2013
Breaking news!!!!!!!

DONE DEAL! President Jonathan shares handshake, smile with ASUU delegation

Yes! Pack your bags!

A source close to top guns in the Academic Staff Union Of Universities (ASUU) has told The City Reporters the lecturers will ditch their four month old strike this weekend so students could resume on November 18 (next Monday).

The source said there was no way the union could reject the new offer of N220bn a year tabled by President Goodluck Jonathan during a marathon meeting with ASUU last week Tuesday.

ASUU had come out of that meeting to tell Nigerians it needed time to deliberate on the new deal and reach a consensus among it members before talking to the press.

A top official of the union,  has however said the government could not be trusted even on the new offer, and that ASUU’s members were divided over the government’s offer. He, however raised a beam of hope by saying the majority still decided to give  the government the benefit of the doubt.

As ASUU executives meet this Wednesday, if the fate of the strike is down to a vote among the striking lecturers, as suggested by ASUU chairman, Nasir Fagge, the four month old impasse may surely end this week.

ASUU went on strike July 1 over the non-implementation of a 2009 agreement it had with the government with a key component of the memorandum of understanding the allocation of 26% of Nigeria’s total budget to education.

Although the government is planning to allocate just 9% of the 2014 budget to education, ASUU now seems set to end the strike after government offers that would surely boost lecturers’ take home pay and improve varsity infrastructure.
