egift: Stop being ignorant. It is the law in Nigeria and every other country: whenever there is a disput between a worker and employee, if it results to strike, the employees will get paid in full with all the relevant benefits as long as they are still validly employed. Shows you what the problem is! |

omenka: Stop sounding like a kid. ASUU stands to gain nothing by prolonging the strike, afteral, it is their members whose kith and kin populate the affected institutions while i can bet my last breath none of the members to the fed executive council have their kid(s) in any of the universities. The salary issue shouldn't be any problem at all since had the lecturers been in school, they would have been getting paid monthly. But since the govt decided to adopt the no-work-no-pay draconian policy to armtwist the lecturers back to the classrooms, i want to believe they didnt, in their typical manner, loot the monies meant to pay the lecturers but stashed them away for prompt disbursement as soon as the strike is called off. But if they didnt, and rather applied the monies for unintended purposes, then they have to find a way of getting it back and giving it to the actual owners. As for the release of 100bill development fund, may Amadioha strike anyone who says the govt doesnt have that kind of money, given the news of sleaze and executive profligacy we are daily inundated with. This govt is awash with deadheads and outright lunatics who give not even a wasp's a$$ how the coutry fares, they are just there for themselves and their families period! What is been asked for is much within the limits of the capability of govt. They should comply asap, and stop trying to make ASUU apear like the aggressor here, afterall, they have shifted grounds and are no longer insisting on strict implementation of the 2009 agreement. And by the way, Wike is an assh@le.Makes No sense.. Park well jorh 1 Like |

Segeggs: you are really the demdemoron that they call you. You want ASUU to get paid while students bear the brunt alone? In a negotiation, nobody gets all; Government loses, students lose so therefore ASUU too. Who are they to be excempted? U sound really daft. An agreement that took years and serious finance to come up with after several compromises and here u are saying even at that govt isn't bound to fulfill. If ur employer promised to pay u a particular amount at the end of the month but after work done at the end he said he wants to reduce ur pay contrary to ur earlier agreement, will u succumb? I wont be surprised if ur foolish kind will. There won't be any strike if govt did what was expected from then. Blame Jonathan not ASUU. |

JAZES: ASUU is beginning to sound like a terrorist to me. The same way boko haram wants Nigeria to be a muslim country(which is impossible), is the same way ASUU is demanding for what cant be done.I swear this is starting to surface as a boko haram-linked flot to crush education |

Super1759: what is this one saying? Who told you about their wards? Take it from me, ASUU have over stepped boundaries, EBSU just left, UNILAG will join soon. And others will follow suit. Don't be deceived, because school authorities asked students to resume doesn't mean lecturers are going back to classes. After all, ASUU went on strike but did they closed down any school? Those that shut the schools decides to reopen. Let those VCs of these institutions go and teach them. ASUU can't stop schools from opening, they are just withdrawing their teaching responsibilities till they are heard. |

Dee60: Our students are aggrieved and need our support to have this strike called off. At the same time, if FG does nothing to meet the lecturers' demands, and the strike is called off, the result will be worse. It is bad enough now that no one wants to take to the profession of lecturing because of the poor perks, and it will get worse as the few good ones remaining will go and look for jobs in banks and bureau de change for better salaries.Lol sorry u de advertise infact take am (҂`_´) < ,︻╦̵̵̿╤─ ҉ ~~~ • • • \ \ ,/ ﹋╯. ..!!!! |

The services they rendered where? How can FG pay them when they were busy at beer parlours? Nigerians don't work at all, get your a55 to a civilized world and see who will pay you for sitting at home. I bet you, if it were to be in the States, those silly lecturers will be homeless by now for not being able to pay their bills. People will be accusing govt of corruption yet they don't want to work to earn their paycheck. Non s ense 1 Like |

What kind of a country is this? A worker who is angry that a promise made to him is not kept, decides not to go work, yet wants to get paid for the period he refused working! If ASUU get paid for sleeping and snoring on their God-forsaken beds, what then is the compensation for the entirety of the Nigerian students? It pains me how some folks who should help fight a good fight are on this thread supporting ASUU on this, simply because they hate anything related to President Jonathan and his government! How can you bargain and want to remain on a winning side when the students are major casualties(so many died in accident on their way home during ASUU strike, others died in the quest of hustling and this was never reported, not to talk of the time wasted at home) and even the government have shift grounds? Even if given 1billion per individual, it will not stop their plagiarism, sales of quack hand-outs, collection of bribes(sorting), sleeping with young girls and married women forcefully! Is that a sign of Blessing or curse on them? @ASUU! 4 Likes |

FG most be insincere if she claims that the communique is not patriotic. Why must they not pay arrears? Why must they delay the payment? Why will they not write something as a show of commitment? If themselves, especially the so-called supervising minster of education knows his left from his right, he will not open his mouth to talk trash? A pity our kids who do not know that ASUU is on their side. May be FG should close down public universities let us all enroll in private. I laugh! |

pcnwamadi: NDDC contract seller, are u aware that Jonathan signed an MOU with ASUU last year where he re-instated his commitment to the 2009 agreement? Let's even assume that didn't happen, wasn't Jonathan a key player in Yaraduas admin? U are really foolish oooo. No wonder many nddc jobs are substandard. |
Re: FG Condemns ASUU's Fresh Demands by tomzman: 10:11am On Nov 26, 2013 |
I don't see anything special in what ASUU is asking for. It simply shows they don't trust the government. It's a pity that there are many ignorant people on nairaland. It's the normal thing to pay workers the arrears of their salaries in the event of a strike action. 1 Like |
