enque: The arm implant is hormonal the coil (IUD) isn't hormonal (doesn't contain hormones)....my gynae advised me on mine, cos I wanted to see if my period will regularise after birth and thankfully it did.
Maybe u shld ask a gynae or dr. how much does it cost. |

enque: I have a copper IUD inserted since April 2017. The reason I went for copper was because I didn't want any hormonal contraceptives because I had irregular periods before I concieved. I was asked to come on the last day of my first post-partum period for insertion. The insertion process was a bit uncomfortable, The nurse claimed that normally it shouldn't be, but it was cos I had my baby via CS. , something abt cervix bla bla bla. I felt a bit of pain afterwards (a few doses of panadol helped me get thru this) and I had to use a pad for 2 days after cos I had light spotting)
Side effects I have felt is only heavier periods - I use 3 and half pack of always (blue pack of 7) per period..(I used to have heavy periods before pregnancy tho, but the nurses said heavier periods is a major side effect). Some ppl claim their partners feel it during s.ex, I don't know how true that is cos my DH has never felt it while doing the do.
Disadvantage - Menstrual periods can shift the coil, so u will need to search and feel the strings after each period to be sure it is still there...it's not so difficult sha, they will teach u at the clinic. however, If for any reason, you do not feel it, Pls go back to the clinic to get it checked.
If well inserted, IUD can last for up to 10 years.
P.s - After my 2nd missionary journey, I think I'll just go for the arm implant . Hopefully, I won't be needing to regulate any periods.
cc MamaDG I'll go for implant too after my 2nd journey because what I just read up there scares me but I just have to do something so that I won't come back here to give u stories that touch the heart because I did CS too. I have makeup my mind and do it for the main time. Thank you very much |

feddy27: I have one inserted right now... * painless procedure to get it done..just a slight discomfort * 1st period was absolutely heavy * subsequent ones are normal * no issues whatsoever * only disadvantage is that it will be poking your partner * it's very safe and highly effective; at least my baby is 13months and no pregnancy so obviously it's working Thanks for the information. I am just scared of the inserting thing. |

Onegai: Mupiderm is 2% mupirocin (antibacterial agent). So ask your pharmacist for one with 2% mupirocin, rather than Mupiderm. There should be a cheaper one (N1800-ish). It's from India and I feel it gives off small heat on touch application but it does the same.
Tatacherie and enque, thanks for checking in on me. I took a break from NL (it was such a necessary break, I had been wanting to deactivate since last year when an acquaintance deactivated her account quietly). Sorry I haven't checked my mails in a while (for this account). Thanks I'll check next time I go to the pharmacy. |

enque: Pear puree Very warm water first thing in the morning...i give around 5am Make his cereals lighter Prune Juice (never got to try this) Pear juice I have been looking for pear in all the markets. They said its out of season. I don't think we have prune in Nigeria. I discovered it was the flagyl I was using that is affecting my baby's poo. I have stopped it though.. I now make his cereal light and I tried this early warm water as u advised but my baby rejected it immediately he noticed its not the usual sweet ordinary water. thinking of trying orange juice. |

lululuv: What's the result so far, am interested to know. It dried off the following day. The shell life of the licafor suspension is 10days after opening and i was asked to use it for him for a week. The mupiderm ointment did justice to my baby's skin by returning his skin back to factory settings.

I just left the hospital now, the paed asked me to use licafor suspension and mupiderm ointment for him that it will dry up before tomorrow. each drug cost 2,500. no wonder most people opt for agbo. I don't think I have that patience to be boiling and bathing baby with agbo. |

Hi Mamas, pls welcome me. I have been a senior guest on nairaland since like 5-6 years ago. I officially registered to nairaland yesterday cos of this page. I have been an ardent follower of this page right from the pregnancy thread. I initially registered myself (for my mind o) for March born cos I share the same LMP as nicoleswizz. I have been following her, giddyperson and sansa143 back to back. i was kind of scared when they all gave birth and doctor kept on telling me 'baby's head is not down yet'. story for another day. I want to thank all mothers on this thread for taking out time to provide solutions when its needed. Baby Israel is 6months and 11days |
