are you a goat? you need to be beaten to do good? where are you now sef? what have you achieved in life? not in an insulting way, i'm genuinely interested to know what this wonderful beating, slapping and caning has done to give you a competitive advantage in life. cos i taught at a school where they beat the students like goats, and all i saw was children to afraid to think for themselves. all they did was cry and beg, and then do the same shite the next day, week, year.

these teachers don't know whether the child is ill or not. i remember in the school where i served, one girl died, and all the teachers were now thanking god that they didn't beat her the day she died. (she'd been ill and hadn't done her assignments).

drake2005: That's another way to detect someone faking American accent. Changing the pronunciation from "water" to "wadder" doesn't make it correct either; though it might get you there 80% of the time, but it is wrong. What differentiates American pronunciation of water is they pronounce the "r". The last sound that ends the word water is "r". Try stressing the "r" and you will notice that the "t" becomes silent or sounds more like what we call "flapped t"..it sounds like a "d". So focus on the "r" and leave the "t" silent. This goes the same for words like "motor", "enter" and many others.

if you were to sign up today you would have about 6-8 games, depending on which region you went to, some of which you would have played already. So say you have about 4 games that you want to download. you can 'purchase' those games to your list, and then download them whenever they're ready. they're yours to download forever, as long as you maintain a subscription.

you should deffo think of going for spectranet or maybe cobranet, which has a free downloading from like 12am-5am. Even if the speed may not be so much, if you can guarantee electricity all night, you'll slowly make progress. all those games i listed, i downloaded on mtn dsl 256kpbs. I've never had that problem. As long as you speak clearly, people will understand you. The only thing that really tripped them was how I pronounced water, waTer, instead of waDDer.

I went to Corona and then Atlantic Hall, but I wouldn't even say they thought us how to speak well or anything.

I've been on plus since 2010 I think. Really made use of it since they started giving free games. It's good for ps3 but absolutely awesome for the vita especially if you cn get to a place with free wifi.

@dimdim- it depends. Some PSN games are less than a gig to 3 or 4 gigs. Games that were released on cd seem to be on average 6-7 gigs.

You'll have to remain subscribed to play the games though. But at 10k a year, it's not too bad. I have a lot more than that on my queue but since the Internet in my house crapped out (was unlimited but very slow) I've had to pick and choose my downloads. Luckily you don't have to download instantly.

i have a vita, had it for a year. have a bunch of games on it, although only six physical ones. most other things i got off their store.

my take.

i'm a camera snob so i've never been a fan of using device based cameras as a main camera. i think the camera in the vita was installed for augumented reality stuff as opposed to cataloguing your memories.

battery life is fine. it's closer to 5, which is nothing compared to a ds lite, but ok. considering you can usb charge it, its not terrible.

your last point is fact. it's a gaming device first and foremost. if you want an sony smartphone competitor, maybe get an xperia?

agree with the cost of the memory cards being prohibitive, although if you have the opportunity to shop online and import, you can find slightly cheaper 32gb ones from play asia (i think). not sure what other peripherals you need beyond that. also don't bother with the 3g version. i have heard rumours of it being discontinued and it's pretty useless anyway. you can't play online with it or download stuff, all you can do is possibly browse and maybe upload/download stuff from near. and it prolly is a battery hog too.

i think in summary if you're expecting it to replace your smartphone or tablet you'll be disappointed, but as a handheld (particularly for a ps fan) it's probably the most advanced ever. deep down sha i still loved my ds lite more.

i doubt if a large population of those who play games in africa can be said to be gamers. for me being a gamer goes beyond 'oh, my favourite game is tekken' or 'the graphics in crysis 3 are just too maaaddddd'. it goes beyond PS >>>> Microsoft or Nintendo >>>> All. A gamer should care about the meta aspects of the industry. i'm not saying they should be reading the financial reports of thq, but they should understand the implications of thq going to the wall. they should know about industry trends and how it affects them. for instance, the increasing move to digital gaming or always online functionality in games like sim city or diablo 3. for us in Africa, this could be catastrophic as reliable and decent internet is mostly a pipe dream for now. they should go beyond mindless consumption and piracy.

as to why we don't have professional gamers, how many professional gamers are there in countries that support it? while it's huge in korea and parts of the west, it's still a small percentage of those populations. is it even covered outside of niche channels or youtube? those countries have bigger gamer populations than us, and those who want to/can go professional are a small subset of that so its not surprising that our small gaming community here in africa has maybe 1 or 2 people who want to go pro. i'd wager that most of don't even know that you can do such a thing.

i'd be happy for any site that engenders debate about games and gaming, and gaming culture. i play anything that sounds interesting and generally have interest in anything by the following directors/studios: mikami, suda51, kojima, team ico, amy hennig/naughty dog, insomniac, sucker punch,housemarque and drinkbox. also, konami, and i'm really starting to respect ubisoft for rayman, and watch_dogs looks amazing.

so more grease to your elbows and efforts, ign is one of my favourite sites, so if you can replicate that here for us i'll be singing your praises from the rooftops.

they were discussing the merits and demerits of the vaccine. the rumour that the vaccine sterilises young girls is not a new one, its been going on since at least 2004. polio had been all but eradicated in nigeria before then. so basically, these journalists might have been talking about the rumour not inventing it themselves at least that's how i've read this situation.

Used to live in Switzerland. Lived in Lugano, in the italian part for about 3 years and zurich for another six months. Great country but very expensive.

for the person that asked about schools with english curriculums. USI (universita di svizzera italiana) has some courses in english at both undergrad and masters level. If you can secure funding there are also some American schools that have campuses there like Franklin (where I went) and Webster. Dunno about Webster, but the degree you get in Franklin is dual-accredited, so you get a recognised degree in USA and in Switzerland. Only thing though is the cost, again can't speak for Webster, but Franklin costs a lot. I believe USI should be cheaper.

You should check out all the schools actually, some of the individual courses they offer might be in english.

If anyone has any questions about Switzerland, particularly Ticino (the italian part) feel free to ask. But santino and miss-sweety86 definitely know their stuff.

the organisation is a bit dumb. Ghana v Mali was a bit of a showpiece match on paper, yet it is on in the afternoon. Both matches involving the Ghanians have been afternoon games. today, Nigeria v Zambia is in the afternoon. Such games should be in the evening so that more people have a chance to watch them.

Recent studies show x that there is no difference in these cells. Some swim fast, some swim slow, some are big, some are small. The these characteristics are not particular to any one gender.
