Joagbaje: Income doesn't have to be salary . Every one receives gifts and money . Babies at birth , pocket money , uncle dash .
That's a gift, not income. I guess that's why some people never make anything of themselves and are always relying on dash to survive.

alpha conde: This happened in my time while I was in school, now am grown and I can't see any disadvantage in it. The other day some persons started to protest that canes should be abolished in school, whereas we that were caned survived it and learnt our lesson. The question am asking is where is this our generAtion heading to, how do we want to raise our kids,we want to pet them and spoil dem right? I bet you if u don't shame or correct that peeing child now he will keep peeing till he is 15 and u wud keep thinking its just an accident.
Alpha conde
i teach in a school where students are brutalised for the slightest infraction. flogged like goats, in fact any beast of burden would probably lash out if you flogged it like that. yet the students still do bad. all they'll do is say sorry, and cry and beg, and at the end of the day, you'll still flog them again for doing the exact same thing. despite the fact that they were flogged mercilessly, they still had the liver to steal one of the corpers' blackberry. so flogging them does nothing. it just satisfies your anger at the moment. as far as correcting the child, it doesn't do anything.

you may have survived, congratulations. did everybody in your class survive?

cos what i have on my hands is kids who are too scared to think for themselves, to express an opinion and who copy each other for ss1 early day courses.

I would basically apply for a crapload of jobs both in Nigeria and the country where you hold the citizenship. If you found something good here, might make sense to take it. It depends on the total package really and also what you want out of life. Good luck and keep us posted on what you decide.

Back in 1999, I was really into the video game Syphon Filter. I had beaten it and considered myself an expert. So I know dreamt i was playing it with someone and giving them advice. In the game if you shoot fuel tanks you can create a huge explosion that will take out a lot of enemies. So I'm like dude, shoot the tanks. One of the enemies now turned to me, and spoke in a naija accent, even though they were meant to be european terrorists and was like hace, u, why u dey tell am. next thing like 6 of them surround me. i was like dont shoot me, i'm already dead. i now lay on the ground pretending to be dead. grin they just shot me. it was pleasant like pouring warm oil down my body.

In 2000, I was in a boarding school abroad. i was sleeping in my friends bed one weekend. i now dreamt i had a wet dream but in actual fact i was peeing on the bed (in the dream). so in the dream the two dorm heads called me for a meeting. they're like you wet the bed. i'm like hahaha because i was embarassed. it was an embarassed laugh. they're like its not funny. i kept laughing. so they kept on increasing my punishment, and i kept on laughing, till they were like we sentence you to death. then i woke up.

i think dreams are your subconscious brought to life. for instance in the latter dream i was really scared about messing up my friends bed, especially as he was very fussy and it manifested itself in my dreams.
TravelRe: London Metropolitan University's Visa-Licence Revoked by Man51ut(m): 12:26am On Aug 31, 2012
@obadiah777 why lie.

you can't have gone to a uni in the us and to a lesser extent the uk without writing a single essay. and given the writing ability of people on here, who supposedly graduated from Nigerian universities. I strongly doubt that essays are given, and actually marked.

you can't go and sit in a freshman-level science course and come and use that experience to talk about education quality.

If you don't like the idea, don't burder telling us , better still ,don't comment. cos, we are not interest to listen to your trash here. This always surprise me, why is human being so ungrateful.

PoliticsRe: UK Fights Abuse Of NHS By Nigerians by Man51ut(m): 9:43pm On Aug 27, 2012
you guys have no shame. so because they denied you visa that's why someone should go there and give birth and cut and run? did they beg you to try go to their country? did you not see the money was unrefundable before you decided to apply? and seeing that it was unrefundable, why the hell did you not make sure everything was on point. people prove here that they can't even read simple instructions or read an article, then they want to form like they can fill uk visa form. then they'll come and be typing nonsense here.

meanwhile what most of you eeediots praising her and saying naija no dey carry last (except when you're getting rejected for a visa) is that it is things like this that make it hard to get visas in the first place. the next time a pregnant woman decides to apply for a visa, what do you think the response will be?

maybe if you clowns weren't so dodgy and stupid about it to begin with, maybe visa issuance rates would be higher. epic twats.

rant over.
TravelRe: What Are The Most RACIST Countries? by Man51ut(m): 6:43pm On Aug 27, 2012
erico2k2: lol Im going by the English defination of racism here which I think is standard,That is how the british Law interpreats RACSIM
"any group of people who are defined by reference to their race, colour, nationality (including citizenship) or ethnic or national origin".[23]
what's that then?

i agree that by the definition we might not be racist, but your argument is that basically we're not racist, because we don't have anyone to be racist too. racist comments have been made on this thread and loads of people have co-signed them.
TravelRe: What Are The Most RACIST Countries? by Man51ut(m): 10:41am On Aug 26, 2012
erico2k2: GUy are you mixing racism and tribalism together? We have just one Race in Nigeria, that's BLACK
there's no difference. how do you differentiate the tribes? by language? by culture? if you hate your fellow BLACK man because he happens to speak a different language to you, sometimes a different dialect to you, are you really likely to like someone of another race? don't make me laugh. if you're a tribalist, you're probably a racist.

FoodRe: What's Your Worst Cooking Blunder? by Man51ut(m): 6:38pm On Aug 24, 2012
I learned how to cook when I was 18. I moved off campus into private accomodation. My introduction to cooking was basically my mum writing how to make rice and stew, and spaghetti and stew on a sheet of hotel paper. I always had ideas beyond my station though. So I started to experiment. Once I bought a container of imitation crab. god knows what I was thinking.

I boiled the rice then added the crab to it. then added a ton of curry and Old Bay to it. good god, it was rancid. and it was like magic, the more i ate, the more there seemed to be. in the end i went out in the middle of the night to throw it away.
WebmastersRe: Nigeria Has The Fastest Internet Speed In Africa? by Man51ut(m): 2:31pm On Aug 24, 2012
AjanleKoko: I wasn't talking about the article. Someone posted results from speedtest.net, showing speeds of over 50mbps. That can't be achieved over UMTS air interface, unless the networks in Kenya have deployed LTE.

We also have ADSL in Nigeria, but far too expensive for consumers.
tell me about it, use ADSL at home- live in a dead zone- and the amount i'm paying for 256 kpbs makes me weep, especially when i think about my connection when I lived in the UK.
TravelRe: What Are The Most RACIST Countries? by Man51ut(m): 4:36am On Aug 24, 2012
Ok even if tribalism (which we're great at) is not racism (your mileage may vary on that), some of the posts on here would not be out of place on stormfront. These posts have been allowed to stand. they have not been deleted, and the posters are merrily skipping through Nairaland like newborn lambs. On other forums, the people would have been banned.

So yes, Nigeria is a bloody racist country, and it's pathetic and childish at that. Waaaa, they were racist to meeee! I'm going to be racist back to them. Waaaaa. Tell me, when your dog bites you, do you bite it back?
WebmastersRe: Nigeria Has The Fastest Internet Speed In Africa? by Man51ut(m): 3:52am On Aug 24, 2012
^^^^^ you are an eeediot. please get drunk and choke on your own vomit.

@Ajanlekoko. I might be wrong, but did the article specify whether it was referring to wired or mobile broadband? If we're getting broadband off mobile providers and Kenyans are getting 50+ MB adsl connections, that's our problem.

To me that argument is like me arguing that my C in maths has merit because I used a normal calculator and 4-figure tables, while you used a TI-83.

gbadexy: The excessive freedom they have in america is doing them harm than good. They do things without boundary and they end being not happy.
I'm not judging the man, but mostly family and relationship matters causes there depression. Imagine a person married to his or her career and doesn't have children and a good wife, if the career suddenly goes, he will find himself alone and lonely.
I think its worse among their celebrities, they either don't marry or change spouses like clothes, since they go for beauty and famous ladies too, at the end of the day, they don't have a happy family to be with and get lonely.
i know you're entitled to your opinion and this place is a forum, but that is a load of BS.

Nigerians don't kill themselves? The ones that killed themselves don't have children and/or a family? Did you also not read that he was working on a sequel to Top Gun with Tom Cruise? Does that sound like someone whose 'career had gone?' Elizabeth Taylor had like 9 husbands, Stan Laurel (of Laurel and Hardy fame) had like 8 wives- they didn't kill themselves. George Clooney has no wife, and seems more normal than some people who are married.

Depression is a disease. It can't be cured by 'happy families' or 'a strong marriage'
EducationRe: Causes Of Mass-Failure In Public Examinations In Nigeria -By Tayo Demola by Man51ut(m): 1:43am On Aug 19, 2012
Poor attitude to education by stakeholders: Govt, School officials, teachers, students, parents.

I am teaching in a public school for NYSC. Now I'm a private school ajebota. I went to Atlantic Hall in the 90s and then I went abroad. It was a bit of a culture shock to see how things were in public schools.

Even ignoring the brutality of the teachers and staff towards the students; they flogged the students like animals. the system is broken. it's set up so that students cram, rather than learn. the teachers talk at the students rather than encouraging discourse. i teach SS1. I was excited cos I was thinking we could have mature discussions...NOT!!! "Tell me about the culture in your village" I almost had to bring out truth serum to get them to talk.

I told them they would form their own notes. They looked like me like I told them they would be sacrificing one of their number to the dark lord.

the teachers also write off the students. imagine one teacher telling the student to his face that the witches and wizards in his village are successful in making him useless. they are all dumb was also a familiar refrain. I don't know whether years of being called dumb affected the students so they actually believe it, because while some of them were indeed fecking eediots, some of them just seemed plain scared to think.

the ministry of education and NUT should have been cool on the scheme to send corpers to schools. what does it say about the teaching profession in Nigeria if people can randomly be sent to teach in schools with no care whether they are qualified or talented at it. why have a national college of education then, why have educational qualifications. then we have the people who are unsuitable to teaching or to even work with young children. on this very site, somebody boasted about banging his students. one of the corpers i worked with couldn't even express herself well, and her attitude was more akin to someone selling bole than a further maths teacher.

the students also dull themselves. but that's just a symptom of everything.

I have realized its the dumbas;s Nigerians born abroad that insult Nigeria more than the Naija born and bred
Naija born and bred, and MMIA is shit. Naija born and breds don't have to insult the country, all they have to do is go and camp outside US embassy to show you how fecked the country is.

Krest247: Aside the state govt pay, does the place of deployment pay you also? I will be going with batch c, is serving in lagos expensive?
state allawee and ppa money are the same thing basically. they'll prolly post most of you guys to schools like they did batch us batch As. it will now depend on whether the school/district will have money to pay you. hint: they won't. try and get posted to a private school sha. if you work in the local govts or some ministries, there is a chance you'll get paid. apparently they promised to pay my gf who is serving in ministry of justice.
