The greatest achievement in Lagos will be eradication of traffic. Not this!
If they can Behind up and make the transport system reliable, then less people will use cars and more people will use public transport. After all the same people who'd never take bus in Lagos have no problems doing so abroad. Less cars on the road means less traffic.

Thanks, and yes I am aware that it doesn't make economic sense but my question is will it be an issue at the immigration point?
The two times I've gone to SA. They asked for my return ticket. Make of that what you will. Most tickets are valid for a year anyway. However, since you're a student your case might be different and they might not care but it's usually seen as a good show of faith to have a return ticket.

Did you report to the police and get police report?
Yes, I needed the police report to get an emergency travel document to return to nigeria from our consulate there so that was a major priority. I have also informed the consulate here of the theft via email (although I never heard back).

Good day thread. Hope everyone (in Lagos) is managing to stay dry. I have a question that I hope can be clarified here. Thanks in advance.

On a recent trip to America, my bag containing my passport was stolen at the hotel. I was able to get an emergency travel document to return home. In that passport, I had a 10 year visitors visa with about 7 years remaining. Will I be able to get that visa back or do I have to start from scratch.

I have heard/read conflicting statements. 1. that for security reasons that visa would be cancelled and i'd have to apply freshly. 2. that it is possible to do a Transfer of Conditions where they will transfer my existing visa to my new passport. What exactly is the policy?

Our politicians should encourage our own and should remove sentiments . Imagine when MTN was given license and obasanjo refuse to give GLO license on the ground that adenuga as yoruba man didn't support him for election because the yorubas vowed that they won't vote an EX_convict was he not almost frustrated out of establishing GLO? That was how HITV was frustrated out of business too. That was how startime was frustrated by the present adminstration before they started operation.Innoson is being encouraged by the outgoing adminstration, we pray the incoming will also support them.
So it was due to lack of encouragement that Hitv spunked all their capital on the Premier league rights and didn't consider the rest of their bouquet thus offering some crappy channels no one wanted to watch? Or lack of encouragement that made them go off air for days at a time.

It's very funny that you're asking the pols to remove sentiments when all the complaining about this is on sentimental grounds. Last I checked Multichoice wasn't a non-profit. If people don't like their new pricing, don't buy it, the price will come down if their profits fall.

I mean, What next, will the complainers go and protest outside Eko Hotel that the rooms are too expensive? Or Yellow Chilli because the food is too expensive? You don't have a right to cable TV.

It's not shallow. You don't need DStv. It's a luxury and nowhere is a luxury for everybody. He doesn't need to consider them because in the grand scheme of things DStv doesnt even factor on the hierarchy of needs.

I'm sorry I just don't get the question from your comment. It's all jam-packed. Can you please construct your question/sentences more precisely? This makes it easier for people to answer.
Where is your first destination ? Where do you think you'd need a transit visa for ?
Just so you know, your Schengen visa doesn't admit you into the UK. You need a separate UK visa for that.
Sorry for the confusion.

1. I am going for a conference in Germany. Dates june 3-6. Company is paying for the ticket. Based on that, German embassy gave me a visa for 10 days but valid only from June 1.

2. Because company is paying for a ticket to Germany, i figured I would take my vacation now rather than having to pay for a ticket to wherever in Europe later in the year. My plan was to go to Switzerland and England before the conference. I would only have to pay maybe about 200-300 euros from my pocket. I have a valid UK visa for this venture.

3. The company is only paying for my transport and accomodation to Germany. I'm flying Qatar to Germany, then flying Lufthansa to London. I am doing this on May 21. I will have to get my luggage and check it in on Lufthansa so I am assuming that I will have to go through immigration for this and it will be a problem since my visa isn't valid till the 1st of June.

Summary: I have a German visa that is valid from June 1. I have travel plans to London on May 21 from Frankfurt. I'm flying Qatar airways to frankfurt and then I bought a cheap Lufthansa ticket to London so I will need to retrieve and check in my baggage in Frankfurt which means I will have to go through immigration. Should I get a transit visa? I have a valid UK visa.

Once again sorry for the confusion.
TravelRe: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by Man51ut(m): 11:12am On May 05, 2015
Hi guys. Got my visa yesterday, thanks for the advice.

However, I think I might be a bit screwed. The conference I'm going for is from jun 3-6. My visa is from jun 1- 10. Meanwhile, I had already booked a ticket to Frankfurt from May 20. a company is buying my ticket to Frankfurt so I decided to take my vacation and just pay a bit of money to go to London from Frankfurt from May 20. I told the officer this and even showed her the reservation for the flight to London since I didn't have a hotel reservation until the 2nd.

I'm flying Qatar to Frankfurt and Lufthansa to London so I will probably have to get my luggage which means going thru immigration. So do I need to get a transit visa?

Why would they not return your document? Just state one reason why your mind is telling you that. its part of the side effects of the "waiting period", your mind will lead you to different weird and strange places. Be patient, When they actually notify you to either come for your visa or for the rejection thereof, all your personal documents apart from the photocopies and visa application forms will be returned to you at the point of collection.
For the average time, it varies. Just wait patiently for their mail.
Lol, it has been a while since I did any visa stuff and I couldn't remember whether they (US/UK) returned the originals. Granted it was never anything this important I gave them. thanks for your reassuring words.

so they'll send a mail to notify us? we had to buy a courier envelope so I just assumed they'd send it. really, thanks for all your help. i'll be looking out for the email then.

Hey guys, thanks for all the advice you're giving on the page. It is very helpful.

I applied for a short term visa last week. About how long will it take for them to process the application. I saw two weeks somewhere but does anyone have any average times?

Also, should I write a letter/send an email to request that an original document be returned, or will they return them with my passport? I foolishly gave them my Company Certificate and now I'm kinda worried that they won't return it.

Stop trolling!
Who's trolling? the stuff you wrote in your post is no different from what i wrote. you state that women were more submissive and should remain submissive and that will reduce the divorce rate. you would prefer women to remain uneducated, unskilled breeders so they have no choice but to be submissive and tied to you and your fortune forever. this is no different to what pro-slavery types were saying back then. it is what racists are saying now, that if africans were still under white rule, things would be so much better (this is something a lot of afrikaaners have been known to say).

the fact is, in life you have to adapt. those days are gone, and they are never coming back. so you can continue looking for your submissive unicorn, but gone are the days when a woman had no prospects beyond getting married have passed. the moment you give people education or enlightenment, you lose power over them. when people started learning shyt and reading, they stopped believing their kings had a divine right to rule. they started questioning shyt and having democracy. if you want a submissive wife, then you have to find someone with no prospects whatsoever but i find it hard to believe that someone who has made it in life enough to build a house will submit to someone just because he happened to be born with a p3nis.

SirShymex:
The whole 21st century woman tripe is just a ruse created for an utopian society. Hence most of them always end up as single mothers. And the divorce rate is as high as it's today. A lot of these women have lost touch with reality, and for Yorubas of yore to have deep proverbs about what this thread is about, despite living in a society where women of that period were perpetually submissive - without divorce and the powers western society has ceded to women these days. That shows they had a perfect understanding of the thought process of the female specie.

Not everything about the 21st century is great. Heck, even people are dumber in today's world than they've ever been. Hence it's so easy to manipulate opinions. And for humanity to survive, the family hierarchical structure has to be kept intact. Especially people of African descent since we've the most dysfunctional families out there, and are at the bottom of the totem pole of everything. Family structure is our holy-grail//hope for survival.
The whole 21st century free black people tripe is just a ruse created for an utopian society. Hence most of them always end up poor and homeless. And their death and incarceration rate is as high as it's today. A lot of these blacks have lost touch with reality, and we should hark back to the old books and sayings that says that black people were subhuman and unable to rule themselves. After all when they were slaves and calling the white man massa- they were not dying or in jail. they understood the unique position of the negroid race and their thought processes.

also they are still making 737s and the age really has nothing to do with it, more the maintenance, after all 787s are brand new and are catching fire all over the place.

No, you can't touch a nerve, mate.

As long as I can read your post and conclude your intellect is way too inferior, I will always have a superiority complex that makes it virtually impossible for your like to touch a nerve. I just get pissed you have a right to vote and can give an opinion and that has nothing to do with your actions, it is incidental.

You are a person!

Is that the normal line your poorly educated, product of a failed educated system try to cling on too: You are poor?

Cretin, I left Nigeria because I was born in GREAT Britain. I was born there because my parents can afford to travel and get professional engagements abroad. I decided to use the privileges that GREAT Britain affords anyone with its citizenship to my benefit. Unlike you I am not stuck with fucktards ruling and destroying your life which has left your brain under-nourished and under-developed to the point your thinking faculty is in a coma. GREAT Britain has done loads for me by giving me education in one of the best universities in the world to achieve the potential of my transcendental brain. The kind of brain that even if I did not go to school at all and you went to university to get a PhD, you would still be intellectually DESTROYED by my dialectics.

Now to even humiliate your dumbarse more, let me tell you about my background. I am from a bourgeois family in Nigeria where I can claim to be at most 4 degrees of separation from virtually 99% of the elite of Nigeria. Be it Obasanjo, Tinubu, Okonjo-Iweala, Okocha, Soyinka, Ribadu, Wizkid, Dangote, Danjuma, Fashola and whoever in any sphere of life. If I go through my contacts, I would always know someone that knows someone that knows someone that can introduce me. That is how when I decided to meet the High Commissioner of Nigeria in the UK, one phone call (i.e. two degrees of separation) got me sitting in his ambassador's office and having a discussion with him, Fool.

https://www.nairaland.com/434813/nigeria-why-hate-truth-fg/1#5934879

That is how I was sitting in the special sitting room (not the one for commoners) of Chachangi back in the day discussing with him and he gave me a free ticket on his airline.

So your dumbarse should never try insulting my background. You are shiiiit juxtaposed to me in terms of background, life and intellect.

The Nigerians you claim are relatively poor abroad, have a far better life and education than your dumb life. And statistics show you will likely die before them after your miserable life in the shithole you desperately want to be proud of.

Can you see you are dumb now?

Secondly, the girl is 16 years old in SS 2. This means that she will soon be thinking about University. Soon after that, if she's your typical Naija girl, she'll be thinking of settling down and marrying. So really, your interactions with this girl will not be too much. I imagine both of you will be civil to each other because of the man, anything more than that will be a bonus.

HealthRe: Why Do Kidney Transplant Abroad When It Can Done In Nigeria? by Man51ut(m): 2:13pm On Jul 02, 2013
gzib: Same reason why people go abroad for schooling, for masters program, and people go to dubai and other countries for vacation and same reason people prefer to buy toyota and honda buses instead of buying innoson motors from Aba and wear imported clothes instead of Aba made clothes. Above all watching English premier league, spanish league, italian league, eufa champions league etc instead of going to our local stadium to watch our local clubs.etc.
My brother, it is every where. confirm that you have not done any of these.
It's not really the same thing bro. Some of those things you mentioned, like the master's programmes, might be better, or more cutting edge. Ditto european soccer. Unless you're a coach you're watching it to be entertained, would you say NPL entertains you? If you could go and see the best nollywood actors act a play on stage, would you willingly say no, instead I'm going to watch the amateurs from my church? If you would, I commend your loyalty cheesy All those things are a matter of preference, or there is a clear difference in quality. Most people won't wear Aba made clothes, but they will wear Nigerian designers if the quality is good.

Now, in the case of kidney transplants. If the doctor knows what he is talking about, and you too should do research to raise points of concern, why would you spend the extra money and go abroad when there's a quite capable person here? Unlike football, clothes, or education, there is a sort of universal standard in medicine. I mean yeah you have world-class surgeons like that guy in colorado athletes go to see but there is a universal standard that means even the doctors here aren't some cack handed person playing operation with your body.

Those foreign hospitals, its a case of the grass is greener. My sister had surgery as a student in the US and then had another surgery in Lagos last year and they seem to have left some stuff inside. My mum also had surgery in the US, and they didn't give her any antibiotics, it's apparently not SOP there. Can you imagine not getting antibiotics in Naija? She had to be rushed back to the hospital a few days later because of infection. Why pay so much money extra for the same level of (in)competence. Unless you're going to go and be worked on by some guy who might win a nobel prize for medicine because of his research into kidney ailiments, it's all varying shades of the same level of skill.

I could be talking rubbish sha.

As for my cousin, they talked to the guy. Everyone has talked to the guy. Them, countless relations, etc etc, they've all tried to talk to him. Whether they beat him or not, he would still be in this place because really you can't beat sense into somebody.
EducationRe: Female Student Whipped Into Coma In Lagos by Man51ut(m): 3:23am On Jul 01, 2013
Kaycee7: Maybe they don't explain the reason for the beating to the kids. That doesn't stop the fact that a little cane is good for the kids. Honestly, I don't know how I would have turned out if not for the cane. But every cane session was accompanied with explaination and advice session.
My Point: A little cane is good for the kids but it should be followed with an explaination and advice.
In my opinion it doesn't work. If it worked, children would only need to be beaten once or twice in their lives. i have a cousin his parents beat till he crapped himself. do you know how much beating you have to receive till you lose control of your bowels? that's the kind of stuff that happens in interrogation rooms. upon all the beating the guy is 30 years old and has amounted to nothing.

I'm not against beating but there's a big difference between beating and beating someone to a coma.

The curriculum you are referring to was not even composed by TEACHERS it was composed by WORKERS who have not been to a classroom situation and see what this children do. The BIBLE recommend the use of CANE,it say spare the rod and spoil the child. Parent of this days contribute negatively to their children behaviour with their pampered way of training don't forget this children are the leaders of tomorrow and when they are not properly trained they produced a negative results and we start blaming the devil. Pls train your children well and discipline then when it is worth it, play with them everytime and always tell them the reason why you are beating them because some are like devil himself . May GOD help us
which bible are you reading? where does it say use a cane. it's people like you that will abuse children because they are witches.
