Apparently Nairalanders from a particular section of the country are more interested in people running around in panic due to fake reports of UGM attacks in the SE than actual human beings getting slaughtered under Tinubu's government.

E come be like say na only Igbo lives dey more important in this country.

I'll personally meet Asari and shake his hands passionately for pushing this motion, God knows the biggest gift Nigeria will give to us is to allow us go, let's just go with our "wahala". Whatever becomes of us in a Nigerian-free destination, then let it be so.

I stand with Asari on this, let us go

Achunike Okafor honoured by U.S. school for record-breaking GPA in Newark; gets 40 scholarship offers

Science Park High School at Newark in New Jersey, U.S., has honoured a Nigerian graduate, Achunike Okafor, for his extraordinary performance.

According to TapIntoNewark, an online newspaper, Mr Okafor received an International Baccalaureate diploma with a record-shattering 4.625.grade-point average from the school.

His GPA is the highest among Newark’s 2,649 graduates in the Class of 2023 and the highest ever for the city public school district.

It earned him more than 40 scholarship offers, many from the nation’s top universities: Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Duke, Princeton, Penn State, Stanford, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of Southern California, and Rutgers.

“I am grateful for the opportunities to attend such esteemed universities and to represent my family and community. I do not take lightly the privilege and responsibility to be among the few individuals selected for such honours,” Mr Okafor said.

The 18-year-old plans to attend Harvard University to pursue a neuroscience degree.

“There’s absolutely nothing average him,” Science Park principal Darlene Gearhart said. Achunike is an extraordinary (person). He’s humble, driven, and industrious. He has always been a great kid. He is always eager to learn,” Mr Gearhart said.

Superintendent of Schools Roger León acknowledged Achunike’s exceptional performance as a source of pride for Science Park High, the school district, and the Newark community.

“We are extremely proud of Achunike Okafor. His achievements are a testament to his perseverance, resilience, and dedication to excellence. We wish him continued success at Harvard and look forward to more accomplishments from him in the future,” Mr León said.

Mr Achunike’s father, Godfrey Okafor, said his son’s achievements were also a source of family pride.

“We place a high premium on education in our home. Education, and continuing to learn in life, allows young people to provide for themselves and their families and build their future,” said Mr Okafor, a high school math teacher.

Mr Okafor says his five other children, including two older sons and three daughters, are studying computer engineering, pharmacology, nursing and law, respectively.

Outside the classroom, Mr Achunike was cofounder of his school’s Science Club and vice-president of its Junior Student Council and Stand & Deliver Club. He was also the president of its Future Educators Club and Black Student Union, co-captain of its robotics team, and treasurer of its Environmental Club.

THERE'S NOTHING LIKE OHANEZE YOUTHS! The real Ohaneze group has only one existing body under Chief Iwuanyanwu and they've repeatedly debunked having any other existing splinter group(s) that speak for them. I stay in Imo state and even though there have been ongoing issues in the mostly oil-rich communities of Izombe, Agwa and Oguta between security operatives and some oil bunkering hoodlums, the situation has never escalated to the extent Nations Newspaper (a Tinubu media outlet) are reporting it. Soldiers themselves are involved in the criminality of oil bunkering.

With that being said, Uzodinma is surely making his government increasingly untenable and unpopular each passing day, people are tired of him and can't wait to risk it all come November by voting him out in the guber elections...not even his "Ebubeagu" state sponsored criminal outfit will stop the mandate of the people, Ndi Imo will rather die at the polls than have their franchise truncated again. Enough of this madness, Imo has always been an entertainment hub full of beautiful hotels, women and amazing night life until Uzodinma's APC govt came in through the judicial backdoor and ruined everything. A whole glamorous Owerri is now a shadow of its self.

Music/Radio / Re: Why Are Our Brothers Missing On The International Music Scene? by mancoconut: 2:09am On Jun 26, 2023
Yoruba language due to the Lagos commercial influence has a strong foundation in Afrobeats, that's why it's easier for a mid Yoruba artiste who releases an "okay" song to easily get more attention than his counterpart in the East or South South who drops a hotter tune

Of course that's not taking anything away from the Yoruba language which is undeniably beautiful, which makes it the official language of anything music/art in Nigeria. But the Igbo language is equally soothing and beautiful especially when we use it in our highlife music. The likes of Flavor Nabania, Phyno, Zoro, Ckay (love Nwan-titi),Tekno used Igbo language to become heavy hitters in the music industry...the others like Victony, Crayon, Poco Lee, Rexxie etc used Yoruba cause that's they were born or raised in the SW and had to capitalize on the Yoruba language brand to sell their art.

Yorubas dominate Afrobeats
Igbos dominate the gospel music aspect, Sinachs "waymaker" album alone has sold more top charting copies worldwide than majority of your mainstream Afrobeats songs.

Lastly the South South boys are fast catching up and might overtake the Yorubas soon in Afrobeats, Rema and Burnaboy are currently leading the pack so far.

Politics / Gunmen Kill 20, Burn Several Houses In Plateau Communities by mancoconut: 7:53pm On Jun 21, 2023
Gunmen kill 20, burn several houses in Plateau communities

As gunmen continue their onslaught against communities in Plateau State, at least fourteen people, mostly women, were burned to death, and another six were killed in different communities in Mangu and Riyom local government areas of the state in the early hours of Wednesday.

According to reports, the gunmen suspected to be Fulani militias infiltrated Bwai community around 12:34 am and set fire to a Church of Christ in the Nation (COCIN) and other properties, including motorcycles and vehicles, within the premises.

A source close to the community revealed that the clergyman and his family who lived within the church premises escaped unharmed, while the attackers went on a burning spree, targeting the market near the church.

The source further explained that the assailants moved to the neighbouring community called Chisu along the Mangu-Bokkos road. There, they unleashed terror on the residents, resulting in the death of 14 people who were burned to death.

The people of Chisu, who had received information about the attack on Bwai, sought refuge in the bush. However, some individuals, mostly women, took shelter in the house of the community leader.

“Unfortunately, those who sought shelter in the community leader’s house were trapped as the militias blocked both the entrance and exit before setting it on fire. They ensured that the people inside were burned to death,” the source said.

“When we arrived at the burned house of the community leader this morning, we discovered at least fourteen charred bodies beyond recognition. During the more than two-hour attack, the gunmen also burned down several houses and other properties.”

The source also mentioned that there was prior intelligence about the attack, which was relayed to the appropriate security

“There was an intelligence report yesterday that the gunmen were gathering at Murish, and the report was passed on to the appropriate security agencies. The people of Chisu had laid an ambush for them along the suspected route, but the attackers suddenly changed their path. When they arrived, they started burning before resorting to shooting.”

In another incident, the gunmen attacked Sambak village in Rahoss, Riyom local government area of the state, resulting in the death of six people on Tuesday around 11:00 a.m.

Hon. Bala Fwenji, a member of the State House of Assembly representing Mangu constituency, confirmed the attacks on the two communities and the fourteen people burned to death. He expressed his disappointment with the federal government, stating that the people of the state have been abandoned.

“In the less than one month that we have had a new government in place in Plateau State, we have witnessed several attacks and many lives lost, not only in Mangu but in other communities. Governor Caleb Muftwang’s administration inherited this pathetic situation, and he has made efforts within his capacity to address it,” Hon. Bala Fwenji said.

“However, it seems like we have been abandoned and forgotten by the federal government. We appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to come to our aid, and we hope the new Service chiefs will take immediate action in this regard.”

Efforts to reach the spokesperson of the Plateau State Police Command, DSP Alfred Alabo, proved unsuccessful.

Let's not kid ourselves, nobody is a kid here naive enough to think the SW ALL OF A SUDDEN want Akpabio to be SP because "they care so much about balancing power" or even the South South getting it out of fairness. We all know Apkabio is the popular choice of the SW APC because they want a rubber stamp to be in Tinubu’s pocket and do his bidding, same way Lawan was Buhari’s right hand man in the NASS. And it's absolutely fine, it's politics after all and politics is all about self-interest.

But abeg make una die that absurd narrative that the SW give a shitt about the South, it's all tribal interest for them as always but they can enjoy it while it last. More drama will unfold soon.

Terrorists kill 25 farmers, abduct women, girls in Niger communities

Terrorists have killed twenty-five farmers and abducted several women and girls from various communities in the Rafi Local Government of Niger State.

The attack reportedly took place on Friday in five villages.

A community leader, who asked not to be named, said the terrorists had intensified their attacks on villages in the area in the last two weeks.

Also confirming the attack, the senator representing Niger East Senatorial District, Mohammed Musa, lamented the increasing attacks in Rafi, Paikoro, Munya and Shiroro local governments.

He, however, said he was optimistic the state and federal governments would take charge of the situation.

The Niger State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Wasiu Abiodun, said the police, in collaboration with the military, had been dispatched to Yakila, Tegina, Kagara, Pandogari, Kusherki and other villages to restore normalcy in the area.

The incident occurred a day after the killing of 13 members of a vigilante group and the abduction of several villagers in Kusharki.

Niger State is a hotbed of criminal gangs commonly referred to as bandits. This group terrorises villages and traveller imposing levies on farming communities and abducting residents for ransom.

You Yorubas should choose one Nigeria or divided Nigeria so that you can have Lagos to yourself. You can’t eat your cake 🎂 and have it.
They have to choose now, you can't have it your way and no other other way, Igbos will more than gladly leave your Lagos for you if you lobby your leaders to join in the call to restructure Nigeria, we will need that majority vote in the NASS when all the demands are presented. At least Tajudeen will finally fulfill his long hatched dream of coveting Emeka's shops when Lagos state government under a restructured Nigeria orders him to vacate back to his state.
