Pls are people still paying $15,000 for the interview?

Quite unfortunate you were denied. I think the VO was extremely generous with his time with you, as he wanted to issue you the visa, but you failed to convince him. Here's where in my opinion, the problem is.

1. You should have said your trip was two-fold; attend your cousin's graduation and use the opportunity to holiday in the US. Here's why:- The graduation is for one day, why would you need to stay in the US for two weeks? Moreso the person graduating is a COUSIN, not sibling, not child, not spouse.

2. Your travel history:- You have only listed Mozambique, so I'm guessing the other two are insignificant. Again, when they asked what you went to do there, your response was unimpressive. You should have simply told them you went on a holiday. As a lover of African culture and nature, you can enjoy these even in Nigeria. Saying you went on holiday would have been better.

3. The VO asking for the ownership status of your home was a strong indication they wanted to issue you the visa. They never ask this question. If you have landed properties, this was the perfect opportunity to let them know. "I live in a rented apartment, but I have properties in xyz".

It is very almost hard to see B1/B2 visa alert here this day.

U may have a good chance of getting d visa if u are on medical trip or study route or u had travelled before to States without overstaying ur intended days of ur vacation. Others whose cases are different na blue papers dem dey serve them.

If you don't believe me, and u can risk visa fee, go and try it and come back to give us report with ur transcripts.

Hello everyone,

Please advise.

I filled the DS 160 and paid Visa fees to GT bank end of July 2024 for my self and family. On trying to book for appointment I saw the earliest appointment date was in Feb., 2026 so I thought to wait till the new appointment page comes up maybe we will get an earlier date (saw a pop up announcement on the website). I just tried to logon to the new Visa appointment website and it is telling me user is inactive.

I hope we can still proceed to get an appointment.

Hey 🤠

1. The only thing you can tip the USA embassy in order to get your desired visa appointment date especially on B1/B2 is to " Apply for the Emergency Appointment.

2. I won't answer a controversial question like " Is Abuja preferred to Lagos ? But if you say 1+1 is 10 in Lagos and run to Abuja to repeat the same thing then you will score zero in both locations.

3. To use the reschedule option , click on it from your cgi portal and it will take you to available dates and if you don't like the dates it brings out then you log out of cgi. The next day or after few hours you can login and repeat the same till next year until you find your favourable date.

4. Let's assume you have pegged your interview location to Abuja and this is your 1st pick then you can still cancel the appointment and choose Lagos. You can only cancel or change location once otherwise you are on your way to purchasing another visa (MRV) fee.

5. Naturally for B1/B2, if you cancel the 2025 let's say in Abuja and schedule another appointment, your first allocated date is still 95% likely to be 2025. That is the introduction year before you start looking for nearer dates or use your last option which is the emergency appointment.

It depends on the type of Visa and if you do it yourself and you spend 500k or less for visa

I am a frequent traveller with tourist visa I never spend more thank 300k for visa to EU because I do it myself with no Agent.

Flight tickets will not cost you more than 1,5m

Feeding is cheap and accommodation depends on duration of your stay and your budget

You mentioned he will work there meaning he will need work visa / work permit. Agent can’t get you genuine work visa . He will need to get a job here to process work visa from here otherwise na suffer

Note don’t mind people telling you millions for visa process they NEVER TRAVEL before or they patronize agent. I’m talking with experience.

I will not also advise you to send him on tourist visa to seek asylum in EU but if he had someone there to welcome and guide him properly that’s fine.

Note : Agent don’t have power over embassy issuing visa they only do what you can also do by yourself to get visa if you follow the process and with right documents.

Even travel agencies that charge to help you apply and search for date.... the max I have seen is 300k and that is inclusive of visa fees
Abeg ooo.... even that 300k, I cannot pay anybody for something I can do myself

@DecentT You have exhausted ur Rescheduling slots that is why you can't find that option again. So for now you stuck with the date you have. Only on very rare occasion you can one more chance pop up for you to reschedule, it happened to me, after I had exhausted my slots . So keep checking. But currently is October 2024 downward that is available.

Yesterday, I had my interview at 10.45am, which took place at window three. I'm pleased to share that my application was approved. Interestingly, mine was the first approval of the day, as I witnessed the officer deny more than 49 individuals, some of whom had prior travel histories to the US.

During the interview, the officer asked me a series of questions, including the purpose of my trip to the US, details about my occupation, the budget I had allocated for the journey, and where I intended to stay during my time there. Additionally, they inquired about my activities in Canada during a specific month (XYZ Month) and my current earnings, among other things.

For context, I have traveled to 19 countries in the past and currently possess valid 10-year visas for both the UK and Canada. Despite witnessing many denials, I am relieved that my application was successful, and I am now looking forward to my trip to the US. good luck to everyone else.
