Nigeria's embattled Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, vows he will waive his constitutional immunity to clear his name over the N90 billion he allegedly received from the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) for the funding of the 2019 elections. The vice president, through his verified twitter handle, @ProfOsinbajo, said, In the past few days, a spate of reckless and malicious falsehoods have been peddled in the media against me by a group of malicious individuals. The defamatory and misleading assertions invented by this clique had mostly been making the social media rounds anonymously. I have today instructed the commencement of legal action against two individuals, one Timi Frank and another Katch Ononuju, who have put their names to these odious falsehoods. I will waive my constitutional immunity to enable the most robust adjudication of these claims of libel and malicious falsehood. A former deputy national publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, had on Monday claimed the travails of Osinbajo were due to an alleged N90-billion scandal, and that recent developments involving him had nothing to do with 2023 politics. Frank urged Osinbajo to sue him instead of threatening media houses over his latest revelation, saying he was waiting to receive a court summons. He also asked Osinbajo to resign as the vice president to give room for a thorough investigation and unbiased prosecution in court, saying, This is important so as not to influence the judiciary as well as use public funds to pursue the case as a sitting vice president,” Frank stated. The Nigeria Deaf Sports Federation (NDSF) took second after winning eight medals for the country in the maiden Africa Deaf Athletics Championships (ADAC) in Nairobi, Kenya. The federation’s Secretary, Lukman Agbabiaka, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Abuja that Nigeria came second out of 12 countries that participated in the seven days event. He said Nigeria won a total of eight medals comprising two gold, five silver and one bronze at the championships started on Sept. 16 and ended on Sept. 22 at Moi International Stadium, Kasarani, Nairobi, Kenya. We commend our athletes for making us proud in the championships. We are happy that Nigeria placed second with each athlete winning medals which were a good performance”. The host country took the first position by winning a total of 54 medals comprising 20 gold, 16 silver, and 18 bronze,” Agbabiaka said giving a breakdown of the medals haul. We all know that Kenya is always number one whenever they participate in any athletics championships in the continent. We will work harder to maintain our position in the next edition. We congratulate our athletes for the work well done’’ he added. The secretary disclosed that the federation got a loan to be able to send its athletes to participate in the maiden championships. We were able to send five athletes and a coach to participate in the championships. We did not want to disappoint these athletes who have been training for long. We had to go on borrowing pending when we get approval from the government. Fortunately, one of the former athletes from Lagos, who is now based in the U.S. was able to assist with flight tickets for two of the athletes. He also bailed us out on full board hotel accommodation for the whole five athletes and officials. This is to show the level of commitment and determination they have for the development of ‘Deaf sports’ he said. The secretary said five athletes comprising of four males and one female participated in the competition. He gave their names as Nurudeen Badmus, Uche Nwabenu, Temitope Olaniyan, Obinna Egbo, and the female athlete, Assurance Omoria. Agbabiaka listed countries like Nigeria, Ethiopia, Mauritius, Algeria, Uganda, Libya, Cameroon, Tanzania, Botswana, Mozambique, Ghana and the host country Kenya. An Ibadan-based fashion designer, Esther Isaiah, on Wednesday accused her step-father, John Dickson, of raping her and sexually abusing her younger sister. Testifying in a Mapo Customary Court in Ibadan, Isaiah,20, also alleged that her step-father was responsible for her childlessness. Our step-father, started molesting me at age 12 and my younger sister, whenever we visit our mother in her matrimonial home. Whenever my mother is not at home, my step-father will threaten that he will kill me if I don’t allow him to sleep with me. So, I allowed him to live. He raped me so many times. I never told my mother because I didn’t know what will happen, but, I told my friends. He also raped my younger sister. She told me that our step-father comes into the room where she sleeps with a mask and rapes her,” she said. Earlier, Dickson who spoke through an interpreter said that he filed the divorce suit on grounds of abandonment. He alleged that his wife, Mary, abandoned him for three years without any reason. However, Mary, countered her husband’s submission of abandonment when she described him as evil and an animal in human skin. It is true that I left Dickson’s home. He raped my daughter, one of the two children I had before I married him. The girl was afraid to tell me what my husband did to her and she stopped visiting me. In Cross River, where I am from, it is a taboo for a man to sleep with a step-daughter and her mother. Except a certain sacrifice is performed, the step-daughter might never conceive and the mother will die. I am currently sick and need urgent spiritual deliverance,” Mary said. After listening to the testimonies, Chief Ademola Odunade, the court’s President, ordered all the parties concerned to ensure that they did the needful since it was a matter of life and death. He held that Dickson might be charged for a felony. The arbitrator adjourned the case till Oct. 15 for judgment. The wives took to their different accounts on the photo-sharing platform to share photos of them with their husband from an outing they had penultimate week. It was recalls there were rumors that the actor, who followed the footsteps of his uncle, late actor and filmmaker, Akin Ogungbe known for having 20 wives and 50 children, reportedly impregnated his wife’s ‘best friend’, Omowunmi, in 2015 when she was an upcoming actress, training at Segun’s film school. However, the filmmaker debunked the report in an interview with Punch Newspaper saying My wives did not know each other before I got married, I have a peaceful household. God has blessed me with wives that understand each other. It is only God that can help a man have a peaceful home. However, for those who think that I would have about 20 wives like my uncle; all I have to say is that they should mind their business, Omowunm Ajiboye shared a photo with the words: Family is golden @segunogungbe_ @atinukeogungbe @yinkaadeniji231 good night guy’s and a sweet dreams” While Atinuke Ogungbe captioned her post: I love my family so much” More photos here; >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>https://maniagist.com/2019/09/25/nigerian-actor-segun-ogungbe-shared-a-series-of-post-with-his-two-wife-photos/

Nollywood actress, Tayo Sobola, popularly known as Sotayo Gaga, recently accused her male colleagues, Saidi Balogun and Mustipha Sholagbade, of introducing her to an alleged fraudster who duped some of her contacts of some money. Making this startling revelation on her Instagram page, Sotayo claims the duo introduced her to a man she identified as Idris Bello, few months ago who allegedly collected the huge sum of N4.7 million from some of her contacts with a promise to facilitate their trips to Saudi Arabia for the Hajj. She further explained that she has tried to get in touch with the said Idris to no avail, just as Balogun has refused to talk her since then, as the former is now on the run. Months ago, I was approached by @saidibalogun and @mustiphasholagbade to join them for the Hajj/Mecca, sponsored by one name Idris. There was a plan to make me an ambassador for his company which I refused immediately. After much questioning @saidibalogun and @mustiphasholagbade, they assured me that they know him well and he’s not a scammer. Then I accepted the offer of travelling with them to Hajj. Now, I was sent a flier to post on my page which is supposed to be the proper procedure to be taken. Now, to cut long story short, this guy took money from some of my contacts and since then, he has neither called anyone nor picked up calls or refunded the money he collected from them. He’s nowhere to be found. Mr. @saidibalogun, I have been calling and sending messages to you in the last few months. Please and please, kindly provide this guy you claim to have known him for ages.” He needs to refund the money he took from my contacts. I have tried my best to keep this off the internet. This will be my first move, don’t test my patience. For better understanding, I’m not in any way fighting Mr. Saheed Balogun. I’m just asking for him to please help me speak to his contact, Mr. Idris Bello that he introduced to me and Mustapha Sholagbade to refund the money he took from my followers or produce him in person. The country is not smiling. 4.7m is not a joke,” she wrote. President Muhammadu Buhari has asked state governors not to fix federal roads if they will eventually demand refund for the rehabilitation. The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, made this known on Tuesday in Abuja when he appeared before the House of Representatives’ Ad Hoc Committee on Abandoned Federal Government Projects (Works) from 1999 till date. According to the minister, the President issued the directive due to the humongous amounts being claimed by the governors after repairing federal roads in their states. Fashola said, “The states submitted a bill of almost a trillion naira when President Buhari was elected. He asked us to work out what was their entitlement and all of that. Ultimately, the BPP (the Bureau of Public Procurement) certified about N44bn – I don’t remember the exact amount now, except for two states; I think Cross River and there’s another state. They didn’t have the documents at the time, which we have sent back to the President. But the decision to pay those inherited debts, including the ones I contracted as Governor of Lagos, was with the caveat that I should tell the governors to leave his (Buhari’s) roads alone. Those were the directives; I was not the one that took the decision. He said, ‘Tell them not to fix my roads again if they’re going to claim compensation. If you want to fix it and not ask for compensation, send me what you want to do. But if you want compensation, go and mind your business while I mind my business because I have inherited enough debts, Fashola, while responding to the conversation by the Francis Uduyok-led panel that the ministry was overstretching itself by handling 472 road projects at once, said that the incessant demands by lawmakers were partly responsible. He blamed abandoned projects on incessant budget cut. https://www.google.com/amp/s/punchng.com/no-refund-for-federal-roads-repairs-fg-tells-govs/amp/

There are many things I wanted to write about from last week but I can’t otherwise I’ll end up in jail. Since the Department of State Services charged Omoyele Sowore, Publisher of SaharaReporters, to court for “insulting” President Muhammadu Buhari, among other allegations, the message from the presidency has been loud and clear enough: insult the President, go to jail. A part of DSS’s suit accused Sowore of “knowingly sending messages by means of press interview granted on ‘Arise Television’ network, which you knew to be false for the purpose of causing insult, enmity, hatred and ill-will on the person of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.” Since the issues on which I have an opinion this week will likely cause “ill-will” to the President, I better hold my peace. I wanted to discuss the approval of the Federal Executive Council for a 50 per cent increase in Value Added Tax from five per cent to 7.5 per cent, subject, of course, to parliamentary stamp. Buhari’s loyalists would argue that the increase was first recommended by a presidential technical advisory committee but this is the President’s committee and he had the option to reject the advice. Buhari set up this committee to devise means of funding the new national minimum wage of N30,000; poor workers’ salaries are about to be raised via a VAT hike that will eventually hit them. My conclusion, therefore, is that President Muhammadu Buhari is verging toward robbing Peter to pay Paul. Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state on Monday, September 23, enrolled his six-year-old child, Abubakar, into primary one in Capital School Malali, Kaduna, a public school, in fulfillment of a promise he made in 2017. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that El-Rufai had in a state broadcast in December 2017, promised to enroll his child in a public school when he turns six years. El-Rufai had said: We are determined to fix public education and raise their standards so that private education will become only a luxury. As we make progress, we will require our senior officials to enroll their children in public schools. And I will by personal example ensure that my son that will be six years of age in 2019 will be enrolled in a public school in Kaduna state, by God’s grace. He said: I made that commitment because I believe that it is only when all political leaders have their children in public schools that we will pay due attention to quality of public education. I went to a public school like this. In fact, the school I went to is not as good as this one, but here I am, because of the quality teaching I got. My intention is to ensure that all our public schools offer quality education, and so we are encouraging all our senior public servants to send their children to public schools. Once the public schools are improved to a point they are nearly as good or even better than private schools, no one will waste his money taking his child to private school.” Ummi El-Rufai, the mother of the child, said: l am glad that we are able to send a strong message to our leaders and the elites, that we need to start making things work from within our homes. By the time we start attending public hospitals and send our children to public schools, the system will get better. This is a very huge step.” On his part, the little child said: I am sad that I will miss my old school, my friends and my teachers. But I have to help my father keep his promise. The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, has said future generations would not forgive him if he failed to accord Sango (god of thunder) his pride of place as one of his predecessors. The Alaafin Sango, according to Oba Adeyemi, reigned before he later became a deity. He called on traditional rulers in Yorubaland to uphold Yoruba culture, tradition and heritage in their respective domains. Oba Adeyemi stated this during this year’s World Sango Day, which was held at the Alaafin’s palace, in Oyo town. He said, “Let us teach our children Yoruba culture and tradition. There is a difference between religion and culture, don’t be ashamed to dress in Yoruba attire; our culture should even reflect in the way we eat.” The first class monarch, while talking on the importance of the festival, described Sango as one of the Alaafin of Oyo before he later became a deity. He said Sango possessed the ability of fighting his opponent without a physical encounter. He noted that the beauty of the festival was for the promotion of Yoruba culture and heritage, adding that people should start teaching their children Yoruba language in their different homes and schools. The state Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr Wasiu Olatubosun, noted that the Sango festival was celebrated not only in the state, but all over countries of the world, saying that was why some foreign nationals attended the Sango festival. One of the Sango worshippers in Brazil, who was also at the event, Marli Olubunmi, said although there were other Orisas (deities) being worshipped in Brazil, Sango was important to them. https://punchng.com/why-well-continue-to-promote-sango-festival-alaafin/amp/

An event planned to end with joy and excitement ended in tears and sorrows, as a couple was recently killed in an accident minutes after getting married. Harley Joe Morgan, 19, and Rhiannon Boudreaux Morgan, 20, said their vows in a Texas courtroom and were just driving out of the courtroom when they collided with a pick-up truck. The groom was driving a Chevrolet when he collided with a Ford pick-up truck which was towing a trailer carrying a tractor at 3pm on Friday, according to KFDM. The couple, from the Orange County city of Vidor, were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. However, the male driver of the pick-up truck was not injured, said police. Harley and Rhiannon were childhood sweethearts and always wanted to get married. Harley’s mum Lashawna Morgan and sister Christina Fontenot witnessed the horrific scene as they drove behind the newlyweds. Lashawna narrated how she tried to pull the couple from the wreckage as she watched her child die in front of her. She said she had witnessed her “own worst nightmare” and the image will “haunt her for the rest of her life. The heartbroken mother added that her son and Rhiannon had been in love ever since they met at the age of 13. Lashawna told KDFM: “They had just gotten married. They haven’t even been married for five minutes. Those two babies. The only thing that they wanted was to get married and start their life. The two of them had so many dreams. She added that they were planning a bigger ceremony with all their friends and family on December 20 so they could enjoy a Christmas wedding. Justice of the Peace Joy Dubose-Simonton, who conducted the couple’s wedding later went to the crash scene to pronounce the couple dead, said KFDM. Otunba Olusegun Runsewe, the Director-General of the National Council for Arts and Culture, has said Lagos socialite, Bobrisky, is a national disgrace and will soon be ruthlessly dealt with. He said this in an interview with Vanguardngr, when asked to react to a statement recently credited to him that the cross dresser should be arrested. His response: “Bobrisky is a national disgrace. He started by selling and using bleaching creams, now, he has grown boobs, bums and hips. If a Bobrisky is doing well with his immoral lifestyle, how do you convince Nigerian youths to do the right thing? Bobrisky has the right, but not within the Nigerian environment. There are others like him, but they live outside the country. If we don’t address Bobrisky as early as possible, he will form a team that will spread like wildfire. This will result in a lot of suicide cases, because the typical Nigerian parent would not want to see their child become a Bobrisky. It’s not an entertainment issue, it’s a war to save Nigeria for a better tomorrow. A popular Nigerian recently paid an unexpected visit to his son in England only to discover that the son is a gay leader. The man was brought back to the country on a wheelchair. I’m talking with the strength of information and authority. I have information that over twenty-three Nigerian boys are already starting Bobrisky’s brand. Immediately we started the war, they pulled out because we are going to get them arrested. They cannot destroy this country. Someone said why am I not fighting those involved in corruption- that’s not my job and that’s why we have the EFCC, ICPC and the rest of them. My job is to protect and preserve the fabric of our good culture. Bobrisky is not a role model or icon Nigerian youths should look up to. We should all condemn him so that he would go back to how he was created. He has a right to leave Nigeria for any country that practises and encourages trans-gender lifestyle. If he is caught on the streets of this country, he will be dealt with ruthlessly. Read more here; https://maniagist.com/2019/08/25/bobrisky-is-a-national-disgrace-dg-of-ncac-otunba-olusegun-runsewe/

The Founder and General Overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (Worldwide), Dr. Daniel Olukoya, on Saturday said God gave him the vision to start the church when he was living in one-bedroom apartment. Olukoya, according to a statement by his spokesperson, Collins Edomaruse, made the disclosure during the ongoing international convention and 30th anniversary of MFM holding at its Prayer City, along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. He told the congregation during a sermon entitled, ‘Rearranged for Revival’, which is also the theme of the convention, the revelation came while asleep. The cleric said although he got the messages and the covenant from God, the MFM was not founded until 12 years later. Olukoya said, “I was sleeping in my one-room apartment in the Boys Quarters of a house located on Herbert Macaulay Way, Yaba, in 1977, when I heard a sharp voice. I then woke up and walked towards the door. But I did not see anybody. Again, for the second time, the voice came and as I was wondering whose it was, the Holy Spirit said: ‘son remember the call of Samuel’. Then He started giving the covenant that led to the establishment of the MFM.” Read more here; https://maniagist.com/2019/08/25/god-gave-me-mfm-vision-in-one-room-apartment-olukoya/

Students of Ambrose Alli University reportedly attacked members of the Academic Staff Union of the institution over the rumor that the lecturers are planning to embark on industrial action. The lecturers according to Punch were attacked on Tuesday, August 20, 2019, while holding a meeting on the campus. While the meeting was ongoing, protesting students, who carried placards with such messages as “No more strike”, We are tired of staying at home”, “We no go gree” disrupted the meeting to prevent them from taking decisions that could mean further strike action. Punch reported that some of the lecturers who sustained injuries were later rushed to a private clinic at Ekpoma town for treatment.
