An Arewa civil organisation has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the move to establish forest guards to combat incessant terrorists and criminal gangs’ attacks across the country. A statement by the convener of the Arewa Think Tank (ATT), Muhammad Alhaji Yakubu, said the move to deploy guards to the country’s 1,129 forests shows that the president is creative and in full charge of the country with the large heart for the well-being of the citizenry. Yakubu also called on all the state governors to emulate President Tinubu in the same direction in order to rid the country completely of terrorists and their nefarious activities. The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Ogun Area II Command, says it has generated over N15billion revenue between January and April. The Customs Area Controller, Bisi Alade, disclosed this at a news conference in Abeokuta, the state capital.
Alade noted that the command’s collective efforts and dedication to duty had yielded remarkable achievements in recent months. He stressed that the revenue was generated through the command’s strategic efforts and unified operations. The area controller added that the revenue collected for the first quarter of 2025, represented 40 per cent increase compared to the over N9billion generated same period in 2024.
“This achievement is a testament to the diligence, commitment and professionalism of our officers and men who have worked tirelessly to ensure we exceed our revenue targets. “It is also indicative of our unwavering commitment to the economic growth and development of our nation.
“We generated over N8billion from Excise and over N7billion from free trade zone,” he said. According to Alade, an unauthorised factory operating illegally was discovered by the command and subsequently brought under excise control. He attributed the success to several strategic initiatives implemented by the Customs area controller in recent months. He appreciated the policy thrust of the Comptroller General of Customs (CGC), Bashir Adeniyi’s principles of consolidation, collaboration and innovation. He reaffirmed the command’s commitment and determination to surpass the performance in the coming months with improved compliance of the trading community.
“We will continue to dialogue and educate the stakeholders and the local business community. We shall maintain success through synergy with other partners while discharging our statutory responsibilities,” he said.
The North West zone of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has endorsed and passed a vote of confidence on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election. The endorsement was made after a stakeholders’ meeting, comprising all Governors of the region, Speaker of the House of Representatives and Deputy Senate President as well as former Governors from the zone.
The National Chairman of APC, Chairmen of State Chapters, state and federal legislators, as well as Ministers, heads of Federal Agencies, including senior political appointees, were also at the meeting which held in Kaduna on Saturday.
In a communique read by the APC North West Coordinating Governor, Senator Uba Sani, after the meeting, the zone reaffirmed its loyalty to the APC and pledged ”full support for President Tinubu’s vision to deliver prosperity, equity, and lasting change for all Nigerians.”

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has announced the interception of a shipment of cocaine concealed in 20 sets of religious books going to Saudi Arabia. According to the NDLEA, the cocaine consignment consisting of 20 parcels with a total weight of 500grams and buried in the pages of religious books was uncovered at a courier company in Lagos on Tuesday 15th April 2025 when officers of the Directorate of Operations and General Investigation, DOGI, were searching through export cargos going to Saudi Arabia at the logistics firm. This was made known in a statement by Femi Babafemi, Director, Media & Advocacy, NDLEA Headquarters Abuja.
The Kebbi State Government has applauded the Federal Government for supplying 6,000 bags of subsidised rice to the state for onward sales to people at N40,000 per 50kg bag.
Hon. Zayyanu Aliero, Commissioner for Special Duties, made the commendation while flagging off the sales in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.
He said the commendation became imperative in view of the fact that the gesture would go a long way in cushioning the scourge of present economic hardship
The commissioner confirmed that the Kebbi State Government had received 6,000 50kg of rice to be sold out to public at a subsidised rate of N40,000 per bag.
Aliero said of the total number, 5,000 bags would be sold to state civil servants while, 1,000 bags would be sold to federal civil servants resident in the state.
He explained that the Kebbi State Government was ever grateful to the Federal Government for its continues efforts to address the plights of the general public.
The commissioner appealed to the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the item for the good of their families.
